Foto-Grafia / o debate na frente de esquerda das artes

Figueiredo, Clara de Freitas 24 August 2012 (has links)
Facing the Bolshevik Revolution (1917), the Soviet artistic avant-garde movements were taken to a process of revolution of the very idea of art, process that engendered fierce debates and put in question the traditional distinctions between art and life. It was from this revolutionary atmosphere that the constructivist-productivists emerged. Later on, given the increasing censorship by Stalinist forces on the rise, the avant-garde constructivist-productivist joined other sectors of the leading movements organizing the \"Left Front of Art\" - LEF (1922- 1928). The Front propagated theories, productions and debates through the journals of Lef (1923-1926) and Novyi Lef (1927-1928). Facing the demand for a kind of art in service of the construction of a life arises in a summarized factographic proposal the emphasis on the use of photomontage, photography, film editing and literature of the facts. On the perspective of identifying what had been, maybe, one of the richest approaches between photography and politics, the present work has as its central purpose to investigate the debate about photography in this atmosphere of revolutionary praxis.

Developing an Electronic Film Review for October Sky

Keeler, Farrah Dawn 13 April 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this Electronic Film Review (EFR) Project was to take the feature film October Sky and apply the EFR approach to an ESL setting. By the use of a special EFRaid player, high-intermediate to low-advanced ESL/EFL students access vocabulary and cultural material in short segmented clips in order to improve their listening and overall comprehension of the film. This material was developed and tested by the materials developer of this project.

A report on Arts Administration internship with Christmas in October New Orleans, Louisiana, Fall 1994

Wolf, Andrew 01 May 1995 (has links)
During September through December 1994 I completed an internship with Christmas in October, an organization that uses volunteers and donated cash and supplies to paint and repair the homes of low-income elderly and/or handicapped homeowners in New Orleans. CIO is a program of the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, a historic preservation organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the architecture and neighborhoods of New Orleans. I performed a variety of jobs for Christmas in October including assisting with the daily operation of the office and warehouse, working on promotion and public relations, shooting photographs, and writing a plan for CIO's 1995 promotional campaign. This report discusses my experiences while I worked with the CIO staff and volunteers, discusses some managerial problems that I encountered and makes recommendations for their improvement. I also discuss my short and long-term contributions to the organization.

Allez, Marchez Braves Citoyennes: A Study of the Popular Origins of, and the Politcal and Judicial Reactions to, the October Days of the French Revolution

Jarvis, Katie L. January 2007 (has links)
Thesis advisor: Paul G. Spagnoli / On October 5, 1789, several hundred women first converged on the Parisian municipal government, then marched undeterred on Versailles to demand the king's aid in relieving the dire bread shortage in the city. By the end of the next day however, the women returned triumphantly to the capital not only with bread, but with the entire royal family, the National Guard, and National Assembly's promise to relocate to Paris as well. This revolutionary journée is referred to as the October Days, and this thesis seeks to address its spontaneous and premeditated origins. I argue that although the journée was not the result of an overarching conspiracy, its themes and actions had precursors in the early months of the Revolution and the years before. Also, by undertaking a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the ensuing judicial investigation of the movement, I have attempted to provide a grounding for the October Day's most important primary source through which some of the journée's most controversial aspects can be examined. Finally, I argue that this judicial inquiry significantly contributed to the polarization of the National Assembly as le peuple forced the political elites to take sides over the investigation. Thus, between October 5, 1789 and October 1, 1790 le peuple continued its struggle to reinforce the sovereignty with which it had been endowed. / Thesis (BA) — Boston College, 2007. / Submitted to: Boston College. The Multilateral Standard of Review: Export Restrictions, GATT Exceptions and Exemptions

Schmit Jongbloed, Wouter Pieter Frans January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation argues for the adoption of a new interpretative standard that urges the WTO adjudicator to explicitly take account of the economic heterogeneity of the WTO Membership when construing exemption provisions in the GATT 1994. In particular, the judicial decision maker should construe and interpret exemption provisions using the embedded standard of review, such that the Member States’ economic conditions enlighten the contextual interpretation of the language of the provision. This multilateral standard of review compels the adjudicator to accord conditional deference to developmental policies, as applied by a Member State in expression of its preferred economic strategy to expand the trade and production of goods and services. This dissertation examines the history of the standard of review in the GATT 1947 and GATT 1994 in order to critically examine its application to the construction and interpretation of the exemption provision of Article XI:2(a) GATT 1994. The proposed multilateral standard of review overcomes the post-modern critique of judicial practice by emphasizing the collaborative intent of the Membership, as revealed through the adjudicator’s understanding of the object and purpose of the agreement.
