This is a qualitative research. The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire and a semi-structured interview script, applied in five couples, one without children, one with a small child, one with teenage children, one with adult children and one elderly couple, ). Through the study, it has been observed that there are different ways for couples to organize themselves financially and that information about money is transmitted through transgenerational inheritances. These messages shape the way couples create a picture of the meaning of money and how they manage their finances. Regarding the gender issue, there is an inequality in the way women and men use their financial resources and women's spending on personal use is disqualified when compared to men's personal spending. In this respect, it is possible to conclude that women have more difficulties in investing their income. Regarding the money communication, it is clear that this is a little discussed issue between couples, and there is also a certain imbalance of power between the spouses. It is concluded that there are different ways for couples to have their financial resources, however, there is no certain way of managing them. It is suggested that this management be clarified within the marital relationship, especially in the changes in stages of the family life cycle, since the phase changes in the family life cycle demand a reorganization and redistribution of financial resources. / O objetivo desse trabalho ?? compreender como os casais em diferentes est??gios do ciclo de vida familiar se organizam financeiramente. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa. Os instrumentos utilizados um question??rio s??cio demogr??fico e roteiro de entrevista semi estruturado, foram aplicados em cinco casais, sendo um sem filhos, um com filho pequeno, um com filhos adolescentes, um com filhos adultos e um casal de idoso, moradores de Bras??lia (Distrito Federal). Com o estudo, observou-se que existem diferentes formas dos casais se organizarem financeiramente e que as informa????es a respeito do dinheiro s??o transmitidas atrav??s das heran??as transgeracionais. Essas mensagens modelam a forma como os casais criam uma representa????o sobre o significado do dinheiro e a forma como gerenciam as suas finan??as. Referente ?? quest??o de g??nero, observa-se uma desigualdade na forma em que as mulheres e os homens utilizam seus recursos financeiros e que os gastos femininos de uso pessoal s??o desqualificados se comparado aos gastos masculinos de uso pessoal. Neste aspecto, pode-se concluir que as mulheres t??m mais dificuldades em investir seus rendimentos. A respeito da comunica????o sobre o dinheiro os resultados desse trabalho, demonstram que, esse ?? um assunto pouco discutido entre os casais, havendo, ainda, certo desequil??brio de poder entre os c??njuges. Conclui-se que existem diferentes formas dos casais dispor de seus recursos financeiros, contudo, n??o existe um jeito certo de seu gerenciamento. Sugere-se que esse gerenciamento seja esclarecido dentro da rela????o conjugal, principalmente nas mudan??as de est??gios de ciclo de vida familiar, visto que as mudan??as de fase do ciclo de vida familiar demandam uma reorganiza????o e redistribui????o dos recursos financeiros.
