With the purpose to evaluate the radiographic influence of soft tissues in the diagnosis of periapical bone lesions, was realized a study in six segments of swine mandibles divided in three groups: 1°-) Soft tissues Group; 2°-) Dry with Soft Tissues simulator Group and; 3°-) Dry Group. Artificial bone lesions were created in different sizes and gradatives and periapical radiographs were obtained using three systems of images acquisition , being the conventional and the digitals Digora and DenOptix. Three observers analyzed the images e they could manipulated the brightness, contrast and zoom in the digital systems. To the interexaminers evaluation utilized the Friedman Statistical Test and the intraexaminers the Kappa Statistical Test. The results showed that there was no significant statistical difference between the systems of images acquisition and between the groups in the diagnosis of periapical bone lesions in swine mandibles(P<0.05). The DenOptix System and the Dry with Soft Tissues Simulator showed greater agreement in the diagnosis of periapical bone lesions in swine mandibles with Kappa values of 0.3-0.51 between the systems of images acquisition and between the groups. To conclude, the soft tissues had not influenced in the diagnosis of periapical bone lesions in the swine mandibles on periapical radiographic images and the manipulations of brightness, contrast and zoom of the images had not influenced in the diagnosis of these lesions / Mestrado / Mestre em Radiologia Odontológica
