Comportement à l'impact et post-impact d'un composite lin/polyamide 11 élaboré par thermocompression / Impact and Post-Impact Behavior of Flax/Polyamide 11 Composite Processed by Thermocompression

Lebaupin, Yann 16 December 2016 (has links)
This PhD work deals with the impact and post-impact behavior of a fully bio-based composite made of flax fibresand Polyamide 11. The first goal was to optimize the hot press moulding parameters for manufacturing this composite. Two types of unidirectional flax fabrics (A and B) and two forms of Polyamide 11 (powder or film) were tested. At first, the pressure and temperature process values were optimized using a first set of composites made of flax A and Polyamide 11 in the form of powder. Then, an optimization of material components was conducted using a second set of composites. All the manufactured composites were tested by means of tensile tests, DMA and porosity measurements. Finally, an optimum configuration was determined: the composite flax B/PA 11 film manufactured with a temperature value of 210 °C and with gradual levels of pressure until 65 bars. Moreover, damage mechanisms were evaluated by acoustic emission and SEM observations during tensile tests. Four mechanisms were identified for the [0]4 and [90]4 composites and five for [±45]s composites. The second goal of this study was to study the effect of an impact of 3.6 J on the compression and tensile behaviors of four stacking sequences of this composite: unidirectional [0]8, alternated [0/90]2s, sandwich [02/902]s and multidirectional [45/0/- 45/90]s. The damage created by the impact in these four lay-ups was characterized thanks to different techniques: visual observations, topographic and C-scan measurements, and micro-tomography. It has been shown that the configurations with the smallest damage were the alternated and multidirectional composites. Then, impacted composites were tested by tensile and compressive loadings, and results were compared with the properties of non- impacted composites. Acoustic emission and digital image correlation were used to identify the damage and strain mechanisms of each type of composites. The results showed that, thanks to the presence of the ±45° plies, the multidirectional composite has the best post-impact behavior. Finally, a finite element model has been developed for simulating the post-impact behavior. As a first approach, a lower value of modulus has been implemented in the impacted area. It has allowed us to compare numerical and experimental strain fields for the different stacking sequences.

The polymetallic Igarapé Bahia mineral deposit (Cu-Au-Ag-Mo) is hosted by the low-grade metavolcanic and metasedimentary roeles of the Igarapé Bahia Group in the Carajás Mineral Province, northern Brazil. The Igarapé Bahia Group consists mainly of basic volcanic and pyroclastic rocks, psamo-pelitic sedimentary rocks and iron formation, which follow a general NNW strike with a dip of 7(1 ENE. These rocks are overlain by a lateritic sequence which hosts the largest gold deposit in the area. The present study reports a petrographic and lithogeochemica1 investigation on the basic volcanic rocks of the Igarapé Bahia deposit, as well as petrographic results on the primary sulfide mineralization associated with these rocks. A total of 23 rock samples were analyzed for both major and trace elements by XRF, ASS and other analytical methods available at UNICAMP and UNESP. REE contents were determined on 8 selected rock samples by ICP method at GEOSOL. These rocks were also studied by conventional optical microscopy and the ore paragenesis were recognized in a total of 25 polished-thin section. Lithologica1 types are: metabasalts, metabasalts with granophyric intergrowths, meta-andesites to metadacites, country rocks with interlayerings of magnetiterich rocks, which host massive sulfide lenses, and intrusive basic rocks crosscutting the volcanic-sedimentary sequence. In general, the Igarapé Bahia volcanic rocks have been hydrotermally altered at greenschist facies conditions. All types, except the subvolcanic basic rocks contain variable amounts of chlorite, carbonate, quartz and epidote. The incompatible element and REE patterns obtained for these rocks resemble those of Continental Tholeiites probably, with relative enrichment for Rb, Ba, k, La and Ce. These enrichment may be due to the hydrothermal alteration or crostal contamination. The primary sulfide mineralization of the Igarapé Bahia deposit underwent local remobilization during hydrothermal alteration events at greenschist facies and was also affected by shearing within a more brittle regime / Mestrado / Mestre em Geociências

Classical elements in early Christian depictions of the afterlife

Graham, Sarah Jane January 2018 (has links)
This thesis is entitled ‘Classical Elements in Early Christian Depictions of the Afterlife’. Taking an approach influenced by Reception studies, it explores some key moments where Christians engage in a dialogue with their pagan predecessors. The focus is primarily on Latin literature, although a limited selection of art and Greek literature has been included where particularly revealing. The aim of this work is to use a series of case studies in order to demonstrate the cross-pollination of ideas and to show that in late antiquity, Christian authors in the Latin West were reacting to their pagan antecedents in a variety of different ways. Through close readings of several key texts this thesis will examine moments of cultural interchange and allow us to think about some specific and illuminating examples of a complex and nuanced relationship. In the first few centuries AD Christian ideas about what happens when we die were still fluid, so the afterlife provides a particularly fruitful basis for exploring wider questions about the relationship between paganism and Christianity.

Jansson, Johnny January 2007 (has links)
