Mek Stans 07Lundgren, Andreas, Möller Nielsen, Alexander, Frisk, Anders January 2007 (has links)

Mek Stans 07 is a machine developed for Tetra Pak in Lund as a 10p candidate theses project at Halmstad University. The commission behind the project involved development of a machine that punches holes in packages for the inspection division at Tetra Pak. The task for the machine was to facilitate the process of making openings for testing in the company’s other equipment.

Researches on different methods of cutting, types of automatization and possible designs were made. To implement the project a design and construction from the base where chosen. A construction based on a fully automatic design with conveyor belt powered by electric motors and a grip / centring system based on pneumatics.

The packages are placed on a conveyor belt in the machine. After that a hole is punched and the packages are emptied of its contents, all done fully automatic. Finally it’s just to remove the punched and finished packages from the other belt.

A lot of energy has been used to make the machine as automatic and easy operated as possible. A minimum of instructions are needed to operate and use the machine, it’s also built to be able to handle most of Tetra Pak’s different packages.

A centring system that is able to handle all types of packages was one off all the smart solutions that were developed. By punching the packages from below, a number of problems were solved, for example the emptying and the problem with the flaps that is punched out gets caught inside the packages. However the greatest benefit was the waters weight, inside the packaging, that assisted the punching. By its mass it held the paper in the package flat while punching.

Everything on the machine where constructed from the ground, both the mechanics and the electronics. The project has resulted in a complete and fully functional machine that will be used at the inspection division at Tetra Pak.

Tetra Pak is also interested in building another equivalent machine that their sister company Tetra Recart can use. This shows that Tetra Pak is satisfied with the result.

A Study on the Strategic Alliance of Travel Industries-With PAK Alliance as an ExampleJen, Hsia 13 July 2006 (has links)
The travel industry is located at the midstream of the tourism and plays a crucial role in the integration of resources. However, due to its susceptibility to the season, business prosperity, and natural or man-made disasters, the market demand in travel industry is fairly instable. Moreover, the entry-barrier is rather low in this industry, which makes it so competitive that no single enterprise can predominate over others. Consequently, to form a strategic alliance has become an imperative to survive, and a PAK alliance has been proved to be effective in practice for many years. Many travel agencies in Taiwan have taken advantage of a PAK alliance to achieve goals like a high corporate achievement or product-line expansion¡Ketc.
This research discusses chiefly about what attitude the scale of business have when joining in a PAK alliance, including their motives, partner-selection, and performance improvement. Furthermore, this study probes into key factors of the success of a PAK alliance and looks into the prospect of tourism.
The major findings of this research are listed below:
1. Large-scale businesses participate in a PAK alliance mainly in view of the ¡¥¡¦motive of resources¡¦¡¦, and put much more emphasis on the ¡¥¡¦market strength¡¦¡¦ of their partners. However, an alliance offers nearly no help on the part of ¡¥¡¦financial performances¡¦¡¦.
2. Middle-scale businesses participate in a PAK alliance also mainly in view of the ¡¥¡¦motive of resources¡¦¡¦, and put much more emphasis on the ¡¥¡¦ consistency of business culture¡¦¡¦ between they and their partners. Besides, an alliance can substantially assist them in gaining ¡¥¡¦market strength¡¦¡¦.
3. Small-scale businesses participate in a PAK alliance mainly in view of the ¡¥¡¦motive of economy¡¦¡¦, and put much more emphasis on the ¡¥¡¦ consistency of business culture¡¦¡¦ and ¡¥¡¦network¡¦¡¦ between they and their partners. Besides, an alliance can substantially assist them in the ¡¥¡¦accumulation of organization competence¡¦¡¦.
4. Small-scale businesses pay much attention to the influence of ¡¥¡¦human factors¡¦¡¦ on the success of a PAK alliance.
5. All types of businesses consider it plausible and inevitable for alliance members to cause damage to the overall benefit, and when it does happen, they deal passively with it.
6. In the future, businesses would place little importance on PAK alliance; instead, they are supposed to think highly of the potentiality of their main products if they are competent and the market allows them to do so, and PAK products merely serve to increase the diversity of products.

Integrated Management Techniques Used For Cogongrass ControlChesser, Zackary B 15 December 2007 (has links)
Invasive weeds are becoming a greater problem throughout the southeastern United States, which calls for drastic means of location, classification, and management in order to halt these undesirable invasions. Three experiments were initiated in 2005 and 2006, two of which were to examine the effects of additives, NIS, Dyne-a-Pak, AMS, and Valor used in cogongrass [Imperata cylindrica L. Beauve] control and the other to evaluate the effectiveness of a ropewick applicator applied to established cogongrass in juvenile longleaf pine stands. Through these experiments, it was found that Dyne-a-Pak can provide greater enhancement in cogongrass control compared to non ionic surfactant, and that imazapyr can provide greater control than glyphosate when applied to cogongrass. The ropewick applicator was found to be an effective application technique for selectively controlling cogongrass. A fourth experiment was initiated in 2005 to evaluate the application of remote sensing techniques in classifying cogongrass from other vegetations along Mississippi highway rights-of-ways using high spatial resolution multispectral aerial imagery. Results from this study indicate that supervised and unsupervised classification techniques can successfully identify cogongrass along highway rights-of-ways.
