From the possible paths given by Comprehensive Sociology, interconnected with Michel Maffesoli and Massimo Canevacci´s thoughts, we understand that the notions of imaginary can be related with the concept of communicational metropolis. Through images and other codes presented by the film Sal de Prata, the path is structured, identifying different enviroments and situations that lead to the city´s imaginary. Registrations about geography, habits adopted by the population and the city´s infrastructure are relevants at the film narrative, since they reveal characteristics of Porto Alegre city – elementary substracts for the development of this research. / Este trabalho desvenda os aspectos da construção do imaginário da cidade de Porto Alegre inseridos no conteúdo do filme Sal de Prata, dirigido pelo cineasta gaúcho Carlos Gerbase em 2005. A partir dos possíveis caminhos dados pela Sociologia Compreensiva, interligando-os ao pensamento de Michel Maffesoli e Massimo Canevacci, entende-se que as noções de imaginário podem estar vinculadas ao conceito de metrópole comunicacional. Através das imagens e de outras linguagens apresentadas no filme Sal de Prata estrutura-se o caminhar identificando diferentes ambientes e situações que remetem ao imaginário da cidade. Registros sobre a geografia, os hábitos adotados pela população, a infra-estrutura, são relevantes na narrativa fílmica já que identificam características da cidade de Porto Alegre – substratos elementares para o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa.

The proximity between the abode and the work, with the attractive possibility of a job in the promissory industrial district of the city, has been fundamental for the formation of a community with a great ethnical and associative diversity in the present local. The existence of a broad field of forms highlights its diversity and expresses the companionship manners based on distinct social contents; its spatial structure, distinguished by its plurifunctionality, resulted a center part where the mixture, associated to the variety of uses, characterized its occupation. To the process of urbanization and modernization of the area followed some gradual modifications in the abode spaces and in the way of living next to the productive, cultural and social activities that formed it. / A presente tese enfoca a assimilação das transformações sociais, culturais e arquitetônicas nos anos 1900 até 1950, em Porto Alegre, centrada nas adjacências da rua Voluntários da Pátria. A proximidade entre moradia e trabalho, tendo como atrativo a possibilidade de emprego no promissor distrito industrial da cidade, foi fundamental para que se formasse neste local, uma comunidade de grande diversidade associativa e étnica. A existência de uma variada gama de formas ressaltava sua diversidade e expressava tipos de convivências baseadas em conteúdos sociais diferentes; sua estrutura espacial, marcada pela plurifuncionalidade, resultou em um núcleo onde a mescla conjugada à variedade de usos caracterizou sua ocupação. Ao processo de urbanização e modernização da área, seguiram-se gradativas alterações nos espaços das moradias, e ao modo de viver junto às atividades produtivas, culturais e sociais que a formou.

Our specific objectives are (I) to verify during the present investigation the weight of words that, in the usage of the utterances, interfere with the constitution of the image of Porto Alegre, and (II) to analyze dialogic relations, checking how several discourses interact and initiate different senses. The bibliography used in our research focus on the dialogic constitution of discourse, and therefore is based on the studies by Bakhtin and his Circle. To the Circle, the relation I/other is constitutive, for every discourse is interrelated to other discourses, initiating different sense relations (dialogic relations). As for the methodological procedures, we selected for analysis different sections of the hotsite Seleção Brasileira de Cidades that the internet user could choose from: the language option webpage, the city option one, the Porto Alegre visualization home page, the profile webpage, the photo one, the video webpage and the one that showed destinations close to Porto Alegre. To analyze the selected material and taking into account verbal and visual elements, we focused on the weight of the words and on the dialogic relations established both in the utterance itself (verbal and visual dimensions) and in the relations with other utterances. / Este trabalho tem como objetivo geral analisar como se constrói discursivamente a imagem de Porto Alegre no hotsite Seleção Brasileira de Cidades, observando relações de sentido instauradas na circulação dos enunciados. Como objetivos específicos, visa (I) verificar, no decorrer da investigação, acentos valorativos de palavras que, na circulação dos enunciados, interferem na constituição da imagem de Porto Alegre e (IIi) analisar relações dialógicas, observando como diversos discursos interagem e desencadeiam diferentes sentidos. O referencial teórico que fundamenta a pesquisa, tendo em vista o pressuposto da constituição dialógica do discurso, baseia-se nos estudos desenvolvidos por Bakhtin e seu Círculo. Para o Círculo, a relação eu / outro é constitutiva, pois todo discurso está interrelacionado com outros discursos, desencadeando diferentes relações de sentido (relações dialógicas). Quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, foram selecionadas para análise as seções do hotsite Seleção Brasileira de Cidades percorridas pelo internauta: página de escolha do idioma, página de escolha da cidade, página inicial de visualização de Porto Alegre, visualização do perfil, das fotos, do vídeo e dos destinos próximos de Porto Alegre. Para a análise do material, considerando a relação entre elementos verbais e visuais, são observadas a força valorativa das palavras e as relações dialógicas instauradas tanto no próprio enunciado (dimensão verbal e visual), como em relação com outros enunciados.
