I’m Your Fan – Engaging in Celebrity’s Social Media Page with the Mediation of Parasocial Interaction and Parasocial Relationship

Zhuang, Jiahui 22 March 2018 (has links)
Social media enable celebrity to interact with their followers and enable followers to build the relationship through the interaction. Former research has found that openness and perceived interactivity are antecedents for parasocial interaction. In order to investigate the way to increase user’s engagement in celebrity’s social media page, this research examines the relationship between celebrity’s posts employ openness and perceived interactivity, other user’s posts employ openness and perceived interactivity, parasocial interaction, parasocial relationship, and social media engagement. Survey data were collected from 595 followers of one Chinese celebrity through an online survey. The results indicate that neither celebrity’s nor other user’s posts employ openness and perceived interactivity direct lead to user’s social media engagement. However, PSI and PSR, which increased by celebrity’s and other user’s posts employ openness and perceived interactivity, have a positive relationship with user’s social media engagement. It provides support for the mediating role of PSI and PSR to social media engagement.

Hemorragia pulmonar de esforço e o desempenho de equinos PSI (Equus caballus) em corridas de galope no Jockey Club do Parana

Eppinger, Marise January 1990 (has links)
Orientador: Ivan Deconto / Contem 2 fots. coladas / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal do Paraná.

Stanovení výživné hodnoty granulovaných krmných směsí pro psy / Nutritive value determination of granular feed mixtures for dogs

VOMELOVÁ, Lucie January 2008 (has links)
The aim of the diploma paper was to consider a nutritive value of the maintenance granular feed mixtures for adult dogs. The nutritive value was determined in the five complete maintenance dog foods. The dog foods were chosen from different classes of quality. The consideration was made especially on the basis of following indicators: moisture content, determination of nitrogen substances, fat, sugars, fibre, ash, calcium, phosphorus and protein digestibility. There was also determined digestibility and palatability in one of these dog foods. This diploma paper was solved in conjunction with the company Dibaq a.s.

Selective analysis of petroleum fractions by mass spectrometry

Zhu, Haoxuan 22 March 2017 (has links)
Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) is a fast and sensitive technique that is ideal for detecting low concentration species of interest within complex mixtures. Because ESI-MS simply transfers charged species to the gas phase, only ions pre-formed in solution are visible. Accordingly, the charged tag, 3-(4-(bromomethyl)benzyl)-1-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, was designed and synthesized to allow selective detection of phenols in petroleum fractions. Pressurized sample infusion (PSI) was optimized and used for time dependent analyses. PSI ESI-MS was applied to measure O-alkylation of the phenol species leading to rate information about the overall reaction along with dynamic information about reaction progress. The relative intensity of the charged tag was used to determine semi-quantitatively the presence of phenols in different petroleum fractions. Other derivatization methods in petroleomics were also explored. 1-[3-(Dimethylamino)propyl]-3-ethylcarbodiimide methiodide (EDT) derivatization followed by PSI ESI-MS analysis was applied for the selective measurement and identification of naphthenic acids in petroleum fractions. The reactions of standard naphthenic acids and EDT were studied by PSI ESI-MS to assess the efficiency of EDT and the rate of reactions. The same petroleum fractions were analysed by cold Electron ionization (Cold EI) gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and classical EI GC/MS. The combination spectra from the subtraction from cold EI spectra to classical EI spectra provide us a new dimension to cold EI analysis of complex matrices. Meanwhile, a Python program was written to rapidly screen cold EI GC/MS data for routine tasks, such as retention time comparison on different instrument parameters for single petroleum sample and spectrum comparison on the same retention time for different petroleum samples. / Graduate

A quantitative examination of ostensibly extrasensory experiences occurring spontaneously and in laboratory conditions

Roberts, B. L. H. January 2013 (has links)
Parapsychological research, including the examination of the anomalous process termed ‘psi’, is highly controversial, with the existence of psi not accepted by mainstream science. The aim of this thesis was to study one aspect of psi, extrasensory perception (ESP), to examine whether evidence for ESP could be obtained or whether ostensibly extrasensory experiences can be attributed to purely psychological processes. Three studies are reported. The first obtained reports of spontaneous cases of ostensible ESP from 94 participants, using an online survey. Participants described their experience and responded to a series of questions regarding the aftermath of their experience and their reasoning for a paranormal interpretation. Results demonstrated several patterns that replicated earlier findings, including the predominance of female percipients, serious events, and close relationships between the percipient and target person. Negative emotions were common, including shock and confusion, particularly at the point of ostensible confirmation of the experience; the most common long-term response was an increase in paranormal belief, although some participants were relatively unaffected. Approximately two-thirds of participants had considered viable normal explanations for their experience, including coincidence and expectation of likely outcomes. Paranormal explanations were commonly attributed to the lack of a viable normal explanation, the striking coincidence between the experience and event, or the unusual nature of the experience. Many cases were weak evidentially; findings overall suggest that many ostensibly extrasensory experiences may have non-psi explanations. Two subsequent studies examined ESP in laboratory conditions, using the ganzfeld paradigm. Based on findings from spontaneous case research and previous laboratory studies, it was examined whether success was related to the emotional bond between pairs of participants, or to their sexes. The first study employed 30 pairs of participants, each taking part once as sender and once as receiver. Picture postcards were used as targets, and an emotional connectedness scale was used to assess pairing closeness. Direct hits and binary hits were above mean chance expectation (MCE); both were non-significant, although binary hitting was only marginally so. Results were suggestive of improved performance for closer pairings and mixed-sex pairings, but were non-significant. The second study was a partial replication, with 40 pairs of participants and using video clips as targets. EEG recordings were taken from the frontal midline (Fz) site of both participants. Approximately half of senders experienced stroboscopic stimulation at 6Hz throughout the trial in an attempt to drive theta rhythms associated with a hypnagogic state, mirroring the state expected in receivers due to ganzfeld stimulation. Direct hits were at MCE, while binary hits were non-significantly above MCE; binary hitting across the two studies was significant. There was no effect of pairing closeness or sexes on success, and hitting was not associated with any EEG features or with strobe usage. Overall, laboratory findings appeared promising in terms of significant binary hitting but continued a trend of inconsistency within and between ganzfeld ESP studies. This inconsistency, together with the many weakly evidential spontaneous cases collected, point more strongly to a psychological interpretation of ostensibly extrasensory experiences, rather than the elusive psi.

Pavement management system to improve local road administration using PCI, IRI and PSI for pavement failures identification

Quispe Sagastegui, Jose Andy, Rioja Schilder, Luisiana, Silvera, Manuel, Reyes, Jose 30 September 2020 (has links)
El texto completo de este trabajo no está disponible en el Repositorio Académico UPC por restricciones de la casa editorial donde ha sido publicado. / A pavement management system (PMS) is a tool that supports decision-making specialists to maintain the pavement at an optimal service level. The absence of a PMS could lead to inadequate decision-making, a disorganized road inventory, poor selection in road maintenance techniques and inefficient technical support to justify the execution of maintenance activities. For these reasons, this research proposes the application of a PMS, with the objective of improving and standardizing the processes for evaluating the condition of roads that are under the jurisdiction of low-budget government organizations, guaranteeing the selection of the most appropriate type of maintenance. As a case of study, a 1.1 km local road located in one of the districts of Lima was evaluated, which was divided into 11 sections. With this evaluation, it was obtained that 2,605.43 m2 of the total road is in poor condition, due to the presence of functional failures. For the identification of failures, the pavement condition index (PCI), the international roughness index (IRI) and the present serviceability index (PSI) were used to determine the condition, roughness and serviceability of the pavement. In conclusion, it was identified that the proposed PMS is adequately adapted to the way of working and available budget of a local administration, since if it is applied it would only spend 20.55% of the fund that would be destined to a total reconstruction of road.
