and Keywords The aim of this thesis is comparison of 6 selected somatic words (head, eye, nose, ear, mouth, heart) in Czech and Japanese idioms based on the data collected from available idiomatic dictionaries in both languages. The theoretical part explains the approach to idiomatic and phraseological units in Japanese and Czech language (definition and characteristic features of idioms including their classification), followed by presenting the cognitive methodology used for analyzing the corpus incorporating semantic categories for idiom classification based on their somatic words in a role of idiom components. The practical part is structured into chapters focusing on the selected somatic words successively, where a dictionary definition precedes the introduction of semenatic categories for each somatic word, including the background information for practical use of those idioms. The final part presents the summary of the semantic class analysis limited to gathered idiomatic data, and conclusions that we could reach after the analysis was completed. Este trabalho avalia as concentrac~oes diarias de Material Particulado Inalavel (PM10) para a Regi~ao da Grande Vitoria, ES, Brasil, para os anos de 2003 e 2004, utilizando processos SARFIMA-GARCH, modelos que capturam as propriedades de longa depend^encia, sazonalidade e volatilidade condicional variavel no tempo. Para veri-car a e-cacia da metodologia, realizou-se estudos de comparac~ao de predic~ao e previs~ao a modelos usuais da literatura, e os resultados evidenciaram que o modelo proposto, SARFIMAGARCH captou melhor variabilidade dos dados em termos do erro quadratico medio.

Coiler drums are integral components of the Steckel mill reversing hot strip rolling process. A Steckel mill produces hot rolled strip steel from cast slabs, which are heated before being converted, via roughing, to a transfer bar, of which the thickness is subsequently reduced to the desired gauge by means of a reverse rolling process performed by the Steckel mill. Coiler drums are located inside two Steckel furnaces, which are positioned on both sides of the mill stand. As the strip thickness is reduced during each pass, the length increases. In order to obtain high rolling speeds and retain temperature, the strip is successively coiled and uncoiled, under tension, onto and from the heated coiler drums during processing. As coiler drums have a high unit cost and a significant impact on the quality of the finished product, coiler drum performance is important to Steckel mill operators. The high cost is associated with the high alloy composition of the casting and the specialised manufacturing process required for the production of coiler drums. Deterioration of the coiler drum condition over its service lifespan can adversely affect the quality of the final product, namely coiled strip. This investigation was therefore undertaken to gain insight into coiler drum failure mechanisms, which will benefit Steckel mill operators, mill suppliers and coiler drum suppliers. / Professor R.F.
