Den djupa väljaropinionen : En studie av väljarnas preferensordningar och förhållandet till väljarnas minskade partiidentifikation

Johannes, Andersson January 2017 (has links)
One of the main goals for political parties is to attract as many voters as possible. The competition for voters among the parties is especially relevant in a multiparty system. A voter in such a system may choose between several parties and can order them in any way he or she pleases. Thus, the voter has an order of party preferences. In this thesis, I argue that differences in a voters’ first and second preference order can be used as a resource to discover unique patterns in the voters’ party identification. To address this conjecture, I have used the Super-Riks-SOM dataset to study such patterns between the years 2005, 2011 and 2013. The results show that along the points of measure, the Swedish voter has become less willing to vote for the middle parties. Hence, the pattern indicates that the party identification in the second preferences is more balanced in 2013 than in 2005.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the political behavior and party preferences of the voters at the 3 November 2002 elections in terms of the concept &ldquo / New Political Behavior&rdquo / . The structure of this thesis is as follows: In the first chapter, the basic theoretical framework of the concept political behavior is examined. In this chapter, the concept &ldquo / new political behavior&rdquo / is discussed in detail. In the second chapter, the political environment, institutions, traditions and transformation of the Turkish political system are analyzed. The empirical part of this thesis has examined the applicability of the concept &ldquo / new political behavior&rdquo / on 3 November 2002 with an analysis of the interviews which are made in Tire. The main conclusion of this study is that, the traditional approaches remained limited in explaining the picture that has emerged after 3 November 2002 elections, and the consequences of 3 November 2002 elections can be evaluated as evidence of a just occurring phenomena &ldquo / new political behavior concept&rdquo / , by emphasizing the similarities rather than differences between the findings and the concept.

Student Political Attitudes at McMaster University

Smith, Brian C. 07 1900 (has links)
This thesis is a report of a survey of a political attitudes at McMaster University. The results are based on the data obtained in interviews with 193 undergraduates chosen in a random sample of the undergraduate population. This information was used to examine the level of interest in politics among the members of the sample, and the different ideological attitudes and party preferences of the students interviewed. The different levels of interest in politics were related to ecological factors such as family and school background, socio-economic status, sex, group involvement and place of residence. Political preferences were related to such factors as socio-economic status, religion, family preferences and academic interests. The more interesting conclusions might be summarized as follows. The students as a whole are more apathetic towards politics than might have been expected. Those who have an above average interest in politics tend to be found among those studying Arts subjects at Honours level and whose parents also have an above average interest. They also tend to be male. Students also tend to agree with their parents’ politics, except those who have a high level of interest in the subject. Finally, the interested students tend to be more radical (at least by the scale set up for this survey) than the apathetic. / Thesis / Master of Arts (MA)
