Siektebelewing by die Pedi : 'n verkennende studie in siekepastoraat

Jordaan, G. J. (Gabriël Jacobus) 01 1900 (has links)
Summaries in Afrikaans and English / Text in Afrikaans / Hierdie skripsie is 'n verkennende studie in siekepastoraat. / This study explores the field of pastoral care of the sick within the frame of the sick person's traditional environment. This research study was only directed at the Pedi. Little material exists on the Pedi's experience of sickness because of the general lack of research. Furthermore, pastoral care of the sick demands specific notice of the cultural background as well as their religious views. Bearing this in mind the purpose of this study is to find a frame work of the Pedi's thought to which the pastoral care could be linked. With the help of qualitative methodological research, in depth interviewing, participation and observation the researcher tried to obtain a frame work of the Pedi's experience of sickness within their traditional situation. Through the means of the qualitative emperical research strategy these stories were described. It is found that most respondents emphasise the meaning of their sickness largely within the cultural framework of the Pedi tradition. This is important for pastoral care because on these thoughts pastoral care could link up. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / M. Th. (Praktiese Teologie)

Improving the Ministry of Pastoral Care during a Transitional Change in Leadership at a Catholic Church

Blanchard, Kelly 01 June 2018 (has links)

The pastoral care ministry in one Catholic parish recently experienced transitional leadership changes. The assignment of a different parish priest and new coordinators of the Pastoral Care Ministry presented the opportunity to explore new and diverse ideas for improvement in process, faith formation, and sustainable change. Implementing an action research inquiry (AIM) was a perfect opportunity to create synergy and cohesion for all involved and to explore what additional resources and support are needed with the ministry. Our results identified many improvements to continue to work on, but more importantly, through cycles of action and reflection we built relationships and developed a community of practice (COP) with the coordinators and the pastoral care ministers. Trust was established, allowing for vulnerability, new ideas, and confidence in our efforts to seek improvement, training, and faith formation within the group.

Loss and grief in African families : a narrative pastoral counseling approach

Sotobe, Solomzi Ferguson 18 October 2011 (has links)
This research case was divided into five facets (amacala) and was carried out in Mthatha at the Eastern Cape Province and in the University of Pretoria in Gauteng Province. The first phase of this project was aimed at introducing a general introductory chapter to this study, the second phase was a research methodology, the third phase was literature review of the related publications, the fourth phase was the pastoral therapeutic process and interviews, the fifth phase was the final phase that cycled off this dissertation with the summary of findings and the conclusions of the research project with recommendations. The uniting factor to help these weak three grouping families would be the theocentric family based on Trinitarian unconditional love covenant, grace, empowering and intimacy. The pastoral care narrative counseling should be based on narrative therapy supported by the Word of God basically in Acts 4.10&12, John 1: 12-13. The marriage question seemed to be source or relationship counselling which also needed theocentric approach to return to family origin of God. The Eurocentric, Africentric and Asiacentric approaches are not the answers to the infected and affected African families experiencing loss and grief and both European and Asian families have the same origin as that of African family, the theocentric family of God. This need further investigate especially to the extended family in Africa and Asia and Asiatic family on Asiatic side. Polygamy also would need much attention since it could be a source of traumatic event to both African and Asian families. Church involvement to counselling was not yet clear how parishioners were trained to help the pastor in the therapeutic activities. / Dissertation (MA(Theol))--University of Pretoria, 2011. / Practical Theology / unrestricted

A Study Describing Pastoral Counseling Among the Christian Church ministers in Oregon, with special emphasis on the counseling Training That They Received at Northwest Christian College

Woodruff, Thomas O. 01 January 1973 (has links)
Pastoral Counseling is recognized by many people with the Church as one of the expected duties of the Minister. It is built into his role as Spiritual and moral leader of the people within the Congregation. Although this concept of the Minister varies among denominations and churches, it appears to be fairly consistent within the Christian Church. It was out of an interest and concern for both the Christian and mental health, that a study about Pastoral Counseling was conceived. It was hoped that such a study would clarify what was involved in Pastoral Counseling and how it was related to other kinds of Counseling. There was relatively little information on the general subject of Pastoral Counseling, and nothing could be found which dealt specifically with Pastoral Counseling among Ministers of the Christian Church. Although mos't of the literature was written within a basic Protestant framework, much of the work was aimed at instructing Ministers O!l how to be Counselors rather than to describe the nature and extent of Pastoral Counseling. In order to obtain that descriptive information it was determined that a survey would be made of a sample of Christian Church Ministers in Oregon. By holding the variables "denomination" and location constant, it was felt that more inferences could be made from the sample to the total population.

Reaching grief: public mourning made sacred through ritual, remembrances, and relationship

Cedrone, Julie Lynn 23 May 2023 (has links)
The problem of grief has been described as the pandemic within the pandemic. This project believes that the church can provide a holistic response to the bereaved through inclusive events, education, and a devotion to embracing a changing spiritual landscape. Through memorial ritual, proactive education and supportive relationships, grief can be transformational and nurture a positive spirituality grounded in welcoming Christianity. This ministry is applied at the First Congregational Church in the town of West Boylston, Massachusetts, a small mill town outside of Worcester with a long history of communal loss prior to the loss of the pandemic. / 2025-05-23T00:00:00Z
