Trata-se de um estudo sobre a política pública de patrimônio cultural no Município de Ubá, Minas Gerais, entre 1996 e 2004, tendo em vista a temática dos usos da memória e a chamado “delírio conservacionista” contemporâneo, intimamente ligada aos estudos no campo do patrimônio. O tema é recorrente no pensamento de diversos autores, principalmente quando se discute formas de manipulação da memória e o consequente fortalecimento dos grupos que conduzem os processos de patrimonialização. A discussão sobre essa realidade do patrimônio, mas em nível local está no cerne das análises do presente trabalho de pesquisa, que apresenta uma discussão baseada em cinco processos preservacionistas, sendo quatro bens materiais (Paço Municipal “Governador Ozanam Coelho”, prédio da Escola Estadual “cel. Camilo Soares”, Piano de Ary Barroso e Estação Ferroviária) e um imaterial - o registro da manga e da mangada. / The present research was developed within the scope of the Professional Masters in Cultural Heritage, Landscapes and Citizenship. It is a study about the public policy of cultural heritage in the Municipality of Ubá, Minas Gerais, between 1996 and 2004, in view of the uses of memory and the so-called contemporary "conservation delirium", closely linked to studies in the field of the heritage. The theme is recurrent in the thinking of several authors, especially when discussing ways of manipulating memory and the consequent strengthening of the groups that drive the processes of patrimonialization. The discussion on this reality of heritage, but at the local level, is at the heart of the analysis of this research, which presents a discussion based on five preservationist processes, four of which are material goods (Municipal Hall "Governador Ozanam Coelho", State School building "Cel. Camilo Soares", Piano de Ary Barroso and Railway Station) and an immaterial - the record of the manga and the mangada.
