As leituras realizadas demonstraram que, apesar do pressuposto usualmente aceito de que os pa?ses da Am?rica do Sul se desenvolveram inteiramente de costas uns para os outros, o subcontinente j? nasce unificado ainda no per?odo colonial em termos de estrat?gias dos atores hegem?nicos europeus. Mesmo o isolamento terrestre das Guianas n?o impediu que primeiro Portugal e depois o Imp?rio do Brasil considerassem a regi?o como fundamental nos seus respectivos pensamentos estrat?gicos. Em verdade, o Brasil herda parte de suas ra?zes pol?ticas e geopol?ticas da estrutura do pensamento estrat?gico lusitano. O interesse lusitano e brasileiro nas Guianas era tanto em rela??o aos limites de fronteira para expans?o territorial, quanto em rela??o ? proje??o de amea?as externas que a partir da regi?o pudessem questionar a soberania portuguesa e brasileira sobre ?reas maiores da Amaz?nia. Nesse percurso tentamos demonstrar que a regi?o das Guianas estava precocemente inserida no contexto geopol?tico Sul-Americano, mesmo estas na??es sendo de matrizes colonizadoras distintas dos demais pa?ses do continente. Visamos esclarecer que a regi?o das Guianas nunca foi um "vazio geopol?tico", como demonstraram os diversos epis?dios de fixa??o das linhas de fronteira pelos portugueses, estes sabendo utilizar muito bem dos princ?pios do Utis Possidetis. No per?odo republicano brasileiro ocorre tamb?m uma amplia??o desse temor de amea?a ? soberania enquanto uso dessa regi?o como plataforma para opera??es cubanas que poderiam transformar o pr?prio Brasil numa zona de influ?ncia do bloco comunista. Na atualidade a IIRSA, a UNASUL e o CDS assumem um papel importante na retomada dos princ?pios estrat?gicos e geopol?ticos historicamente pensados pelo Brasil para o continente Sul-Americano, fomentando projetos de infraestrutura e de melhoria das comunica??es do Brasil com a regi?o das Guianas, e nesta, entre seus vizinhos, integrando agora tamb?m por meios terrestres uma regi?o que j? nasceu integrada do ponto de vista estrat?gico. / To achieve this study conducted a bibliographic study of historical and geographical character on the entry of the Guianas in the Brazilian strategic thinking. The readings taken showed that, despite the assumption usually accepted that the countries of South America have fully developed of a back to each other, the subcontinent is born unified even in the colonial period in terms of strategies of European hegemonic actors. Even terrestrial isolation of Guyana did not prevent first Portugal and then the Empire of Brazil consider the region as critical in their strategic thinking. In fact, Brazil inherits part of its political and geopolitical roots of the structure of the Portuguese strategic thinking. The Lusitanian and Brazilian interest in the Guianas was both for border limits for territorial expansion, and in relation to the projection of external threats from the region could question the Portuguese and Brazilian sovereignty over the Amazon larger areas. In this way we try to demonstrate that the region of the Guianas was inserted early in the geopolitical context South American, even these nations being distinct colonizing matrices of other countries of the continent. We aim to clarify that the region of the Guianas was never an "empty geopolitical", as shown by the many episodes of fixing of boundary lines by the Portuguese, they know very well use the principles of Uti Possidetis. In the Brazilian republican period also occurs an expansion of this threat of fear of sovereignty while using this area as a platform for Cuban operations that could transform Brazil itself in an area of influence of the communist bloc. At present IIRSA, UNASUR and the CSD play an important role in the resumption of strategic and geopolitical principles historically designed by Brazil to the South American continent, promoting infrastructure projects and improving communications between Brazil and the region of the Guianas, and this among its neighbors, integrating now also by terrestrial means a region that was born integrated strategic perspective.
