Evaluating remuneration and reward systems at lobels bread, Zimbabwe

Mtazu, Pauline Sibusisiwe January 2009 (has links)
To gain workforce support and commitment, organisations should offer remuneration and rewards that are internally and externally equitable, as inequity in remuneration is the source of employee discontent and turnover. To succeed, organisations have to communicate the total value of rewards allocated to employees. Communication is the foundation of reward management and organisational success. Communication helps employees to understand that the rewards they receive are worth having. Remuneration and rewards communicate the value that organisations place on their employees. To deliver the proper messages, remuneration objectives and strategies should be aligned with the overall business strategy of the organisation. Alignment enables organisations to deliver the right type of rewards to the right people, at the right time, and for the right reasons. The only way the organisation can deliver the correct reward and remuneration, is to implement a total reward system together with a total pay system. Effective total pay system covers base pay, skills and competency pay, variable performance pay, recognition, and benefits. Total reward system cover investment in people, development and training, performance management, and career management. To motivate and retain employees, and to improve organisation’s profitability, a right mix of total pay and total rewards should be made available to employees as employees’ needs differ. With this information, an empirical study was developed and conducted at Lobels Bread in Zimbabwe. The results of this survey indicated that Lobels Bread uses traditional base pay system and benefits as a way of motivating and retaining its employees. This pay system seems to be insufficient to motivate and retain employees. To motivate and retain employees, the company should implement a total reward system, which includes total pay system, investment in people, career enhancement, open communications, involvement, and performance management.

Design and Implementation of a Framework for Performance Measurement in Service Oriented Virtual Organizations

Kamali, Seyed Mohammad Amin January 2012 (has links)
Management of Virtual Organizations faces new challenges that traditional approaches cannot address. This research proposes a performance measurement framework for service oriented virtual organizations including a structural and a procedural component. The structural framework aligns the activities of partners in a virtual organization at three different layers. The first layer is designed for partners’ strategic alignment through coordination of the value creation network. In the second layer, performance dimensions of partners’ collaboration are defined and mapped to the service choreography model. The third layer focuses on assessing effectiveness and efficiency of partners’ domain specific services, which is designed based on ITIL V3 service level management guidelines. In order to consolidate the structural framework, these three layers are integrated using a method for extracting service choreography model and SLA aggregation patterns from the value network. The procedural framework, on the other side, defines the processes required to design the KPI structure, implement the solution, communicate the results, and derive improvements. We propose an implementation architecture that enables inter-organizational performance management in collaborative environments. Then, the IBM products for business process and performance management (IBM BPM, Business Monitor, and Cognos BI) are employed to implement the proposed architecture. The conceptual framework along with the implementation architecture provides an integrated solution for decentralized performance measurement without the need for a central authority. We demonstrate that the proposed solution enhances flexibility, scalability, and interoperability, and supports transparency of partners’ performance information at an agreed-upon level as a basis for mutual trust.

Kritéria hodnocení nástrojů pro tvorbu dashboardů v řešeních BI / Evaluation `s criteria of the tools for creation dashboards in BI solutions

Chrást, Tomáš January 2008 (has links)
Extensive solutions of Business Intelligence consist of wide range of projects. One of them is generating of reporting layer whose part is setting of dashboards. This diploma thesis deals with dashboards and tools serving to their formation. In the first part of the thesis there is explained the theory of dashboards in current company informatics. Consequently there is created a set of evaluative criteria helping with mutual comparison of the tool for the forming of dashboards, which is the primary aim of the thesis. In the last part of the thesis there is a presentation and evaluation of one selected tool (Dashboard Designer) according to the criteria stated in the thesis. During the evaluation of the tool it is possible to verify some of the criteria on the basis of practical experience. That is why the demonstrative implementation of Dashboard Designer over the test data is shown. Thus the second aim of the diploma thesis is completed. Aforementioned targets are achieved on account of pieces of knowledge about dashboards coming especially from the literature published by authorities in the line of business and from background research concerned with contemporary approach to the evaluation of tool for the forming of dashboards. In addition to formed criteria this diploma thesis can be instrumental to further discussion about dashboards and their role in current company informatics.

The target of my thesis was to show that personal management is one of the very important activities of every successful company, including also performance management. The necessary part of this performance management is objective, fair and efficient appraising of performance and finding the ways how to ease off functionless parts of operation and how to reach improvement. Also assessment in concrete company declared that performance must be directed, pursued and appraised. Otherwise there is very small probability that human resources will be used at the most efficient way. In my thesis I described theoretical concept and modern trends in the area of performance management and on the base of them I put mind to the concrete company and its organization.

Koucký, Jiří January 2009 (has links)
Corporate Performance Management (CPM) is a broad concept focused on managing performance of companies and is related to information technologies like Business Intelligence (BI). CPM and its associated technologies are currently one of the most tracked areas in the field of business informatics. The reason is the growing market competition, globalization, the dynamic changes on the market and the growing need for companies to effectively manage their performance. The aim of the theoretical part of the thesis is to familiarize readers with this concept, with its components and link to business informatics. The work focuses on a specific area of CPM, which is monitoring and analysis, i.e. dashboarding. In the thesis there is analyzed monitoring and analytical functionality of the software Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 (PPS). Furthermore, there are identified dashboard and scorecard concepts and analyzed the characteristics and categorization of dashboards. There are various best-practices approaches to deployment of dashboarding into business. In the thesis there are mentioned some of these practices and basic rules for proper dashboard design. At the end of the theoretical part of the thesis there are evaluated the world's leading suppliers of CPM solutions. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is design and documentation of CPM dashboarding solution based on the real business data of the company that provides consulting services and develops BI software. The solution is designed in the PPS software and its purpose is to support the company's management in terms of monitoring the effectiveness of internal and external projects and business activities of the company. The solution is not a definitive CPM solution, but a step by the company to reveal possible weaknesses in the organization and encourage efforts to develop its own holistic CPM solution.

Možnosti využití Competitive Intelligence v exekutivních IS / Possibilities of Competitive Intelligence serviceability in executive IS

Horáková, Markéta January 2010 (has links)
Executive information systems or Business Intelligence (BI) systems are implemented in the majority of companies today. Contemporary trend is to focus these systems on the Corporate Performance Management (CPM), in which special processes, methodologies and metrics necessary for measurement and management of the business performance are used. This thesis explores how principles and tools of Competitive Intelligence (CI) may be applied in these systems. CI is another discipline useful for strategic management of a company. In the theoretical part of this thesis are briefly described principles of BI, CPM and CI. The main aim is to analyze the possibility, whether we can extend a potential of the executive information systems through the usage of Competitive Intelligence principles and technologies. This part is based especially on technical literature and other relevant sources. The practical part of the thesis explores these questions on a real system called the Business Navigation System (BNS). The aim is to analyze BNS in a viewpoint of Competitive Intelligence serviceability and to design new functionality. The contribution of this thesis in the theoretic area is the consideration; whether it's possible to derive benefit from the principles of CI in the executive information systems. The practical contribution is an evaluation of BNS and the suggestions, how to involve technologies of CI to the some modules of this system.
