Defining Site Boundaries: A Case Study at University Indian Ruin, AZ BB:9:33(ASM)

Hart, Sharlot Marie Dunfield January 2015 (has links)
University Indian Ruin (UIR), which sits in the eastern Tucson Basin, is a prime example of a Classic Period Hohokam platform mound archaeological site. The University of Arizona owns 13 acres of this site, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places using this acreage as its site boundary. However, multiple investigations have shown that the site is not fully contained within that boundary. This work seeks to answers to two questions about the UIR site. The first is to further investigate to duration of occupation at UIR, beyond the Classic Period. The second is to systematically investigate the extent of UIR into the surrounding residential community. Results include a new, proposed boundary for management by Pima County and the State of Arizona. How archaeologists define a site boundary is also investigated.

Intérieur domestique et mise en scène : la réappropriation du XIXe siècle par la création contemporaine / Domestic interior and staging : the influence of 19th century over contemporary art

Lerichomme, Lise 08 December 2014 (has links)
This dissertation intends to unveil the mecanisms of representation and influence on the domestic interior in installations from the 1950s onwards. It is about questioning reasons and meanings of the presence of 19th century patterns ( social levelling, distinction between domestic and public space, hoarding, promotion of the ornementation...) in contemporary practices. Furtheron, the dissertation tries to establish a typology of archetypal personae in contemporary works.19th century is not only the testimony of the rise of the interior and the standardization of social conventions but also aspring of artistic avant-gardes as well as political, industrial and social revolutions. However, when artists deal withdomestic interior they would rather refer to the conservative figure of the bourgeois and a regulated space. Consequently, has there been structural changes or modulations in the representation of interiors since the 19th century ? If so, do the forms used by these works have the same foundation as when the genre was created ?Through examples drawn from contemporary creation but also from curatorial and museographic practices, sociology, litterature or microhistory, we intend to find approaches in link with the issues raised by these works in order to present their variations and what they imply. A complete report is not intended in this dissertation. The visual art practice is directly related to the research topic. Anecdote is used as a lead because it offers an unprecedented access to historical facts, social changes, mechanisms of domination or cultural productions. It is thanks to its appearence in the interior through the decorative that this object is linked to the research topic.

La Tène and early Gallo-Roman north-west France

De Jersey, Philip January 1992 (has links)
The basis of this research is the compilation of a gazetteer of sites and finds of the La Tène and early Gallo-Roman periods (c. 475 BC - c. 31 BC) in north-west France. Two aspects of the evidence thus collected are examined in detail: settlement and coinage. For the early La Tène period, burial evidence provides the only significant source of information, and at present it is not of sufficient quality or quantity to do more than shed light on a few specific aspects of regional development. Similarly, the settlement evidence from the later periods is also relatively scarce. However the introduction of coinage in the middle La Tène, probably via mercenaries returning from service in the Greek world, provides a much more substantial body of information on developments between the third and first centuries BC. Following a consideration of the theoretical aspects of coin use and function, all the major types of coinage in north-west France are examined in detail, and a number of problems of attribution and interpretation are discussed. It is apparent from the study of settlement and coinage that several traditional interpretations of aspects of the La Tène and early Gallo-Roman periods in north-west France need to be reassessed, in particular questions concerning the development of oppida, and the function of coinage. In the concluding chapter a model of the development of coinage in the region is suggested, illuminated where possible by the application of settlement evidence. The result demonstrates clearly the extraordinarily cohesive nature of this area, which has been termed "greater Armorica", throughout the later Iron Age and into the Gallo-Roman era.

Construction and validation of an instrument for the nursing preoperative visit for breast surgery.

Elizabeth Moreira Mota 03 June 2013 (has links)
The preoperative visit is the first step for the Systematization of Perioperative Nursing Care - SPNC, representing a valuable tool for humanizing nursing care. The use of an instrument allows guiding this visit, where will be recorded the biopsychosocial and spiritual needs of the patient and establishes a communication between the nurses and the surgical clinic, ensuring continuity of perioperative care. This study aimed to develop and validate an instrument to collect data for the preoperative visit nursing (PVN) breast surgery, based on the model Data Set Perioperative Nursing (PNDS - Perioperative Nursing Data Set), which standardized nursing diagnoses in the areas: safety, physiological and behavioral responses of the patient and family. For the construction of the instrument of data collection were considered four phases: 1) literature review and identification of key items, 2) development of the instrument for data collection, 3) evaluation by experts; 4) validation of appearance and content and 5) final reduction of the instrument and statistical analysis. To search for articles in the databases selected, the words used as descriptors were: breast cancer, preoperative, perioperative nursing, performing all possible combinations. After this search, was drafted the first version of the instrument for data collection for VPOE breast surgery consists of 47 items, organized into three sections: structural data, data elements of nursing and nursing data preoperative distributed follows: security area (06), domain physiological responses (28) and behavioral responses (13).To validate the contents, instruments were referred for assessment of 22 judges, experts in the area of the construct: 15 assistant nurses, 04 teachers and 03 of them worked in care and teaching. The agreement among the judges was analyzed by the binomial test as a method of analysis that compares the ratio of views and opinions among experts about the same issues. The level of significance was set at 5% (p >0.05). For the analysis of the concordance of judges responses for the instrument, the analysis of the frequencies of responses was conducted (strongly disagree, disagree, partially agree, agree, strongly agree), and the descriptive analysis of the suggested changes of the judges. The construction of this instrument will guide the preoperative visit, contributing to perioperative nursing care, ensuring a humanized care to surgical patients.
