Because the technology allows publishers to get information to readers quickly and efficiently, it is causing major changes to the publishing industry as we know it. Nearly every publishing and media company in the world has some type of website and provide a large amount of web-based content. This paper is concerned with situation and future prospects of the lithuanian electronic sports periodicals. Subject of the paper are web sites of the electronic periodicals. The aim is to describe present situation of the ecetronic sports periodicals and evaluate future prospects concerning economical, technological and social aspects. The diploma thesis deals with corporate magazines, namely those that are aimed at customers. Customized corporate periodicals include selected magazine ČiliChili. It is examined in terms of marketing and media communication. The paper summarizes the history and current situation in the field of corporate periodicals, available literature and theory. The methodical basis of this thesis is quantitative content analysis and qualitative method - oral history method. The analysis focuses mainly on linking editorial and marketing content. The editorial part examines the scope of contributions, text and image structure, themes, the presence of marketing tools, their language, and so on. The work also examines the trends of the magazine from 2004 to 2016. The interview method with witnesses complements the work of otherwise inaccessible information. The results of the quantitative analysis are summed up together with the information obtained from the interviews with the witnesses.

This diploma thesis The image of American Movie Production in Czechoslovak Media of 1970's focuses on how the Czechoslovak media in the 1970's created the public perception of movies which had come from the American distribution to Czechoslovakia or were projected in the cinemas among the years 1970-1979. This thesis analyzes the manner in which selected national print media, influenced by the political trends, being partly designed for the general public (daily newspaper Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie) and partly addressed to specific target groups (film periodical Film a doba, Filmový přehled, Kino), reflected the issue and the contribution of individual movies; all of that under specific political and cultural circumstances. The main theme is the usage of the movie production and its presentation as a contemporary propaganda tool. The analytic part is based on examination of several articles and reviews found in some selected media and connected to the movies or its actors and makers. The analysis is focused on important arguments and assessments in the frame of the contemporary political development. The comparison of how the issue was perceived by the daily newspapers and by the film journals hopes to bring a new aspect and a new point of view to the film and history studies. .

This master's thesis entitled "Magazine Praha in 1970-1979" deals with the monthly magazine Praha, which was published by the National Committee of the City of Prague in the period from 1970 to 1991. This was a regional magazine for the inhabitants of Prague as well as for visitors to the capital, which kept its readers abreast of current events in the metropolis. The main topics covered were city administration and construction, urban transport development, Prague culture and history. The introductory chapter covers the historical context - the situation in Czechoslovakia in the 1970s, the system of state administration with a focus on the administration of the city of Prague, and the media environment of that time. The following chapter describes the emergence, development, characteristics, and thematic focus of this periodical and the position of the editorial staff within the framework of the Prague National Committee. The aim of this thesis is to provide a detailed description of the magazine's first ten years - with particular analysis being given to the contents of the magazine, its internal arrangement, continuity and the transformation of the individual columns and main themes, the composition of the editorial staff and the layout. The diploma thesis deals with the way in which the three most read printed and three most read online media reported on coronavirus in the beginning of its spread in the Czech Republic. Specifically, it monitors whether and to what extent the media outputs from these media on the four selected events coincided with the outputs on these events issued by the Czech Press Office (ČTK) and at the same time whether these media adhered to the principles of objectivity. In the theoretical part, the author analyzes media routines, journalistic ethics and other concepts such as moral panic or self-fulfilling prophecy, with which she also works in the practical part of the theses. For the purposes of the research, the author chose a content analysis and defined four research questions, which she answers through the results of this analysis. In total, she analyzes 149 media outputs and 101 outputs of the Czech Press Office. The conclusions of this work prove that the media used ČTK as a source in only 15 % of cases. Online media referred to it more often. 56 % of the media outlets were similar to the ČTK outlets only in the main announcement. The aim of this work is to evaluate the current procedures and to indicate the development of the cataloging practice towards the RDA rules based on research and analysis of bibliographic production serials in selected Czech and foreign libraries. The diploma thesis is divided into several chapters. After introducing the issue of serial documents follows the chapter devoted to the standards and resources for cataloging the continuing resources that the catalogers should know. The next chapter deals with the FRBR and its application to the serials. Part of the chapter dealing with RDA rules from the serials perspective is also the analysis of these rules according to the FRBR structure available in the RDA Toolkit. Three chapters are devoted to the analysis of bibliographic processing, first in foreign libraries, then in Czech libraries, and in the last chapter there is a comparison of selected periodicals in foreign and Czech libraries. At the end of the thesis are presented the impacts of application of the FRBR model and RDA rules on serials cataloging. Puppeteer, World's Oldest Periodical Focused on Puppetry (1912-2009) Diploma Thesis Eva Pivodová Abstract This thesis focuses on the history of the magazine Czech Puppeteer (Český loutkář), or Puppeteer (Loutkář), the world's oldest continuously published periodical of its kind. The first 3 chapters describe in detail the magazine's transformations between 1912- 1950, its further existence is described more briefly in the final chapter. The resource material consisting primarily of the published issues of the magazine served as the basis for historical analysis. The text also puts the history of the magazine into context with the development of puppetry and it includes references to relevant theatrical literature. The magazine was founded by Jindřich Veselý in 1912 in Prague. In the first period of its existence (1912-1913), it helped to integrate the Czech puppetry community and it emphasized the values of genuine Czech puppet theatre. After 1917, Puppeteer (Loutkář) continued to publish both theoretical and practical articles. In 1940, it was replaced by Puppet Theatre (Loutková scéna). But Puppet Theatre was soon cancelled as well and so the only periodical focused on puppetry published during war was a simple cyclostyled bulletin. This master thesis deals with the phenomenon of journals published by local municipalities, defined in a recent amendment to the Press Act in the legal order of the Czech Republic as "journals of territorial administrative units". According to the press law the purpose of these journals is to deliver information about the self- governing unit while providing adequate space for presenting opinions and views of all ideological spectrum of the local council. These journals were recently criticized for being abused by the ruling political representation and being misused as a form of political PR rather than an independent news platform. My research is focused on their gradual professionalization that was recently encouraged by the changes in the Czech law. The research is based on a survey of editors of these journals. In the survey I investigated the background of the content production of these journals, various aspects of their organization, details about staff editors and their reflection on the topic, as well as control mechanisms that are set to ensure the statutory requirements of objectivity and impartiality. This master dissertation "Czech Electronic Book Market -- Obstacles and Opportunities" analyzes Czech market with e-books. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current situation on the market in terms of technologies, distribution models and legal issues. It describes commercial, free and illegal sources in the market, including a description of digitisation projects in Czech libraries. The thesis also includes a theoretical introduction to e-books and their development in the past. Details are discussed, focusing on technology, modern electronic readers with electronic ink. For comparison, the thesis also analyzes the U.S. market with e-books. In analytical part the individual portals with e-books on the market, their supply and user interfaces are compared. The real example analyzes the costs of an e-book and its comparison to costs of a printed book. At the end of the thesis, alternative models of distribution requirements for establishment of a new portal with e-books are characterised, the Creative Commons licenses are described and the current trend of e-journals is mentioned. Finally, I suggest recommendations especially for sellers on the Czech market describe the advantages and disadvantages of e-books in terms of individual roles in the distribution model and estimate the future market development.
