Εξομοίωση της αρχιετκτονικής PiSMA στο περιβάλλον εξομοίωσης SIMICS

Στη διπλωματική αυτή υλοποιήσαμε την παράλληλη αρχιτεκτονική Pisma στο περιβάλλον εξομοίωσης Simics. Η αρχιτεκτονική PiSMA αφορά τη διασύνδεση επεξεργαστών και μνημών πάνω στο ίδιο τσιπ σε μορφή σκακιέρας έτσι ώστε κάθε επεξεργαστής να είναι συνδεδεμένος με τέσσερις μνήμες και κάθε μνήμη να είναι συνδεδεμένη με τέσσερις επεξεργαστές. Αυτή η διάταξη επιτρέπει σε κάθε επεξεργαστή να επικοινωνεί άμεσα διαμέσου των μνημών με οκτώ γειτονικούς του επεξεργαστές. Η επικοινωνία με κάποιον επεξεργαστή εκτός των οκτώ γειτονικών γίνεται με τη μετάδοση μηνυμάτων μεταξύ των μνημών. Η αρχιτεκτονική Pisma είναι επεκτάσιμη σε αυθαίρετο αριθμό επεξεργαστών και μνημών και το κύριο πλεονέκτημά της εμφανίζεται σε εφαρμογές που παρουσιάζουν μεγάλη τοπικότητα καθώς έτσι τα δεδομένα μπορούν να επεξεργαστούν από περισσότερους επεξεργαστές ταυτόχρονα ενώ παράλληλα μειώνεται και το overhead της μεταφοράς των δεδομένων μέσω των μνημών. Στη διπλωματική θα δοθεί επίσης περιγραφή της σύγχρονης, αξιόπιστης και ολοκληρωμένης πλατφόρμας εξομοίωσης Simics. Συγκεκριμένα θα περιγραφούν τα εργαλεία που προσφέρει για την υλοποίηση των διάφορων εξομοιώσεων μέσω των κλάσεων που διαθέτει, ο τρόπος λειτουργίας του και ποια συστήματα έχουν εξομοιωθεί και έχουν προστεθεί στο περιβάλλον μέχρι τώρα. / In this thesis we implemented the parallel PiSMA architecture on Simics simulator. The PiSMA architecture forms an expandable toroidal grid with alternating processors and memories so that its processor is connected to four memories and each memory to four processors. This structure enables every processor to communicate through the common memories to other eight adjacent processors. The communication between remote processors is performed by message passing. PiSMA architecture is scalable to hundreds of processors. The most important advantage of this new architecture is that it can process applications that can divide in independent granules more efficiently by mapping them to as much as many processors this can be done on the grid. Simics is an efficient, instrumented, system level instruction set simulator. It implements a lot of tools and provides the user with many capabilities as much as system simulation is concerned. In this thesis an inclusive presentation of Simics simulator is given.

Univerzalno pismo – modernistička utopija ili savremena komunikacijska potreba / Universal Type: Modernist Utopia or Current Communication Requirement

<p>Sa ciljem da se ponude odgovori u širem kontekstu disciplina, disertacija je segmentirana u dva dela. U prvom delu, tj. u poglavlju pod naslovom Stanje u oblasti istraživanja, hronološki se razmatra poimanje i atribuiranje univerzalnog u tipografskoj praksi modernizma i postmodernizma,i introspektivno analiziraju istorijska mišljenja i prakse, okolnosti i refleksije. Na osnovu konstatovanih suprotstavljenih mišljenja i do kraja ne određenih odgovora na ova pitanja, u drugom delu teze, konkretizovana su istraživačka pitanja i izdvojile hipoteze koje su testirane eksperimentalnim putem. Na osnovu rezultata istraživanja dati su odgovori na istraživačka pitanja i potvrđene alternativne hipoteze.</p> / <p>Aiming to provide answers that will cover broader discipline context, this thesis is segmented in two parts. In the first part i.e. The State of the Research Field section, comprehension and attribution of the universal in the typographic practice of modernism and postmodernism has been chronologically examined, with additional<br />introspective analysis of historical thinking and practices, circumstances and reflection in order to find answers to questions synthesized in the title of thesis. Based on the presented opposed opinions, and questions that have not<br />been completely answered, in the second part, this thesis focuses on research question and hypothesis which have been empirically tested. Based on the results of the research the answers to the research questions have been provided, and the alternative hypotheses have been confirmed.</p>

Model efektnosti tipografije u štampanim oglasima / Model of typography effectiveness in print advertisements

<p>U okviru disertacije predložen je nacrt za generisanje efektne kompleksnosti<br />štampanog oglasa na osnovu generisanja kompleksnih tipografskih odlika i<br />generisanja kompleksnosti slike. Predmet disertacije predstavljao je razvoj<br />modela efektnosti tipografije u štampanim oglasima na osnovu uticaja<br />semantičih odlika, odnosno kompleksnih odlika formalnih atributa slovnog<br />znaka. Predložen model dopunjuje postojeći prilaz uloge tipografije u<br />oglašavanju u okviru segmenta uticaja kompleksnih oblika tipografskog pisma.<br />Na osnovu predloženog modela projektuje se onlajn aplikacija za procenu<br />efektnosti odnosa između kompleksnih tipografskih odlika i slike koja ima<br />praktični značaj za proces grafičkog dizajna.</p> / <p>This dissertation proposes a framework for generating effective complexity of print<br />advertisements based on the generated complexity of typeface properties and image<br />complexity. The subject area of the dissertation was a development of a model for the<br />effectiveness of typography in print advertisements. The model takes into account the<br />effects of typeface semantic properties i.e. complex features of the letter&rsquo;s formal<br />attributes. This approach updates the existing model of the role of typography in<br />advertising. Specifically, it updates the category on the influence of the form<br />complexity. Furthermore, based on the proposed model, a concept fora n online<br />application is presented. The purpose of the application a practical assistance for<br />graphic designers which provides information on the effectiveness of the relationship<br />between the complex typeface properties and image complexity.</p>
