Para tanto, concebemos a existência de uma complementaridade entre o cursus honorum desse senador e a sua carreira jurídica. Nosso estudo parte da compreensão da atuação do Senado na organização políticoadministrativa e judicial durante os governos dos imperadores Domiciano (81-96 d.C.), Nerva (96-98 d.C.) e Trajano (98-117 d.C.). Tal abordagem se justifica, visto que, mesmo após a sua entrada no Senado em 90 d.C., este senador, permanece atuando tanto no Tribunal do Centúnviros como na Corte Senatorial. No que tange a carreira jurídica de Plínio, centramos nosso estudo nas defesas e acusações perante o Tribunal dos Centúnviros e na Corte Senatorial. Partindo da interpretação dos processos sediados nas cortes de justiça mencionadas, objetivamos apresentar um contexto de compartilhamento do poder entre o Senado e o Imperador. Para tanto, utilizamos como documentação as epístolas de Plínio que fazem referência a sua carreira política, assim como o seu discurso Panegírico a Trajano / The main aim of this paper is to analyze the political career of Pliny the Younger (61/62 AD - 111 AD). Thus we conceived the existence of a relationship between the Senator's cursus honorum and his legal career. Our study begins with the understanding of the Senate's role in the politico-administrative and judicial organization during the governments of the emperors Domitian (81-96 AD), Nerva (96-98 AD) and Trajan (98-117 AD). Such an approach is justified since, even after entering the Senate in 90 AD, this Senator remained active both in the Roman centumviral and senatorial courts. Regarding Pliny’s legal career, we have focused our study on his defenses and objections, before the Roman centumviral and senatorial courts. Based on the interpretation of the processes held on the aforementioned courts, we aim to present a context of power sharing between the Senate and the Emperor. Hence we have made use as documental reference the Pliny’s Epistles, which make reference to his political career as well as his Panegyric speech to Trajan.

Para tanto, utilizase dos pressupostos advindo das contribuições metodológicas elaboradas pela Histórica Cultural, em especial pelo conceito de representação adotado por Roger Chartier / This dissertation conceives a brief reconstitution of studies about Pliny, the Younger in Brazil and in the World, showing the majors researchers of this area. Approach problematic of the civil man’s representation according to the discourse presented by Pliny, the Younger in him books I to IX. Through this epistolary, we make a analysis of the contribution of the fides and the virtus, as well as the image created by the autor about himself and about the princeps in the constitution of the civic man’s model while 96 to 113 a.
