This thesis focuses on the "superficies solo cedit" principle, known since the times of the Ancient Rome and further adopted in civil law codexes, and according to which buildings are considered a part of the land on which they are built. The "superficies solo cedit" now becomes - after more than sixty years - a part of Czech law again thanks to the Section 506 of the NCC. This thesis divided into two main sections. The first section deals with historical aspects of the above principle through a timeline. In this section the Author explores the causes of the above principle in the Roman-law, investigates the regulation contained in the in the Austrian ABGB and looks at the efforts to implement the above principle into Czech private law in the period following the First World War. This section also covers the era following the Second World War when the efforts to implement the above principle came to a halt thank to Communist's successful rise to power and subsequent ideological changes resulting in complete abandonment of the above principle in Czech law. The Civil Code from 1964 for example completely lacked the above principle. ABSTRACT The largest part of this thesis is a novel called Still Life, which explores the mourning process of a mother who loses her baby, and the effect it has on her life and her marriage. The novel alternates between the present and the past (which is 23 years before) so that it illustrates the mother’s reaction to the death of her baby at the time of the death, and her personal development (or lack thereof) many years on.The second part of the thesis is an essay, which reflects on grieving in general and the expression of grief through literature, as well as some of the aspects of the writing process, with particular consideration given to the development of plot,the choice of point-of-view, symbolism, the ending and the choice of writing in a second language.

A partir da Teoria dos Cronotopos, concebida por Mikhail Bakhtin, esta tese busca mostrar os modos pelos quais a fusão de tempo/espaço determina o enredo e as posturas das personagens em sua interação com o Outro, na obra Os Senhores, de Gonçalo M. Tavares. Vivendo como indivíduos descentrados, segundo lógicas próprias, as personagens também apresentam problemas identitários e de relacionamento com a alteridade. Além disso, por meio da análise dos elementos composicionais dos discursos e do estudo dos protogêneros pretendemos estabelecer o sentido final da obra, conectando-a à realidade do homem contemporâneo. / From the ideas conveyed by Mikhail Bakhtins Theory of Chronotopes, we seek to demonstrate the ways through which the fusion of time/space determines both the plot and the characters postures in their interactions with the alterity, in the series Os Senhores, written by Gonçalo M. Tavares. The fact of living as off-centered individuals, with their peculiar forms of logic, also causes them to present identity and relationship problems with the Other. Besides, through the analysis of the elements which constitute their discourses, parallel to the study of the prototypes, we intend to establish the ultimate meaning of the contents in the stories, connecting them to the contemporary mans reality.

This diploma thesis is focused on the legal regulation of individual institutes which mean the restriction of disposal of subject of the right of ownership. For the purpose of this diploma thesis the subject of the right of ownership means the land, respectively the plot within the intention of the Act No. 256/2013 Coll. on Land Register. The plot is an individualized part of earth surface which is determined by a boundary. In accordance with the above it is presumed that where the author uses "land", she means the plot. The aim of the diploma thesis is to present the detailed analysis of individual legal regulations which manage restrictions of plot ownership. It is clear that the topic of the diploma thesis is quite comprehensive, so the author has decided to present the basic concepts at first. The basic concepts are a land, real estate, plot and parcel and right of ownership. The author has build on the part of right of ownership the chapter two, which is about the restrictions of right of ownership that are laid down in the constitutional order and Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code. 迴歸分析通常被用來描述兩個或兩個以上變數間的關係，或藉由一群自變數來預測某一應變數的相關資訊。然而，通常我們只知道自變數會對應變數造成影響，至於兩者間真正的函數型態為何，卻不得而知。因此，本文試圖介紹不同型式的殘差圖，諸如：簡單殘差圖(simple residual plot)、加變數解釋圖(added-variable plot)、部份殘差圖（partial residual plot或component-plus-residual plot）、增加部份殘差圖(augmented partial residual plot)，藉由圖形所提供的資訊，希望能更有效率地找出適當的函數關係，將資料作轉換，使線性迴歸模式適用於轉換後的資料。 / The primary goal in a regression analysis is to understand how a response variable depends on one or more predictors, and to predict the value of response variable according to the predictors. However, most of the time, we only know that the predictors will have effect on the response variable, but not the true function of them. Therefore, some different forms of residual plot are considered in the study, including simple residual plot, added-variable plot, partial residual plot (or component-plus-residual plot), and augmented partial residual plot. In view of these residual plots, we can visualize easily the dependence of a response on predictors. Hence, after transforming the data using an appreciate function suggested by the plots, the data can be better fitted.

<p>This thesis is focused on the improvement of an existing implementation of a waveform visualizer. The problem area handled in this work has its focus on how to reduce the number of points to be plotted. The given waveform visualizer was extended by the use of two additional algorithms. First, a Level Of Detail (LOD) algorithm that gives the subset of points that are necessary to plot the waveform in the current zoom level. Second, a straight line identification algorithm to find a series of points aligned in a straight line, only leaving the end points and then drawing a line between them. These two optimizations are the main focus of this work.Additionally, an exporting functionality was implemented to export the plot data into several different data formats. Also some improvements of zooming, panning, some GUI design, and a new drag and drop functionality was constructed.</p>

Within Quality Control, process capability index is a common measure to oversee processes. Safety Region Plots were introduced to do this graphically. In Albing & Vännman (2010) the concept of Safety Region Plots is expanded to incorporate an elliptical shape. The method of Elliptical Safety Region Plots assumes a normally distributed data. In this paper we are looking at the robustness of the Elliptical Safety Region Plots if we can assume a symmetrically, but non-normal, distribution. In the results we can conclude that an adjustment is required for symmetric, but non-normal, data if the method in Albing & Vännman (2010) is going to be used. An eventual adjustment is discussed in discussions. To easily be able to use the Elliptical Safety Region Plots mentioned in Albing & Vännman (2010) we have developed a program in RExcel.</p>

Fatigue crack growth in ±-Zirconium phosphate/epoxy nanocomposites was investigated. A new fatigue testing technique was implemented for miniature samples. Two different methods “strength of materials and Rayleigh-Ritz - were used in determining the bending stress. The fatigue stress and fatigue life of different nanocomposite specimens were plotted in a traditional stress-life (S-N) curve. It was inferred from the S-N plot that the values obtained from both the methods compare well. The experimental results showed that fatigue life of filled epoxy nanocomposite is more than that of the unfilled epoxy composite. A model for bending stresses, ultimate strength and the number of cycles to failure was obtained to predict a component service life without conducting elaborate tests. Scanning electron examination of the fractured surfaces revealed that the crack takes a tortuous path during its propagation course, indicating crack blunting and crack deflection roles of ZrP and CSR nanofillers, which consequently improve the fracture resistance. In case of the M-ZrP-epoxy systems, delamination of ZrP platelets from surrounding epoxy matrix was proposed as the reason behind crack growth. The improved fracture resistance of these nanocomposites was attributed to the delamination of ZrP platelets and deflection of crack direction. The superior behavior of CSR-ZrP-epoxy composites was attributed to the cavitation process and void coalescence due to CSR particles delamination.
