Primeiro, visa incorporar o literato e sua obra à paisagem cultural brasileira, já que ambos permanecem, a despeito de sua importância estético-cultural, lamentavelmente desconhecidos, mesmo pela maioria dos germanistas do país. Segundo, espera avançar noções da recepção crítica do autor, bem como contribuir para a discussão de questões fundamentais da estética em geral, na medida em que, por um lado, o fenômeno jogo de palavra é crucial na obra do lírico, mas até então não conheceu qualquer estudo de maior fôlego, e, por outro, pode ele ser considerado um agente exemplar da expressão artística pelo fato de comportar experiência e exploração particulares do mundo, característica essencial que parece ser igualmente inerente à literatura como um todo. O texto compreençle, então, uma parte inicial, extra-obra, que delineia informações biográficas sobre o autor e tenta traçar os contornos de definição e história do jogo de palavra em si. Em seguida, procura-se estabelecer, à guisa de suporte e organização das reflexões posteriores, um inventário do jogo de palavra na obra de Erich Fried. Os capítulos III e IV são consagrados, por sua vez, à confluência das duas temáticas principais, constitutivas do reuvre frideano: a psicanálise e o engajamento. Referente à primeira, critica-se a aplicação do método genético-estrutural à análise da obra literária e aventa-se um ponto de vista métapsicológico que seja capaz de examinar .. , o papel da arte na economia da vida. No que diz respeito ao engajamento, a redaçãQ almeja evidenciar a opacidade de uma oposição estrita e estéril entre poesia pura e poesia engajada, tanto na obra de Fried quanto na poesia em geral. Finalizando, a dissertação recolhe os fios que ficaram soltos ao longo da exposição para tecer entre os pólos sujeito - linguagem, significante - significado, eu - outro, consciência - inconsciênciafamiliar - estranho, psique - soma e poesia pura - poesia engajada, uma malha que permite caracterizar a poesia como um logro, um simulacro, uma formação substitutiva, investida pelo homem contra uma falta originária: a sua própria transitoriedade / Abstract: This dissertation intents to study wordplay occurrences in the lyrics of the Viennese poet Erich Fried (1921-1988), pursuing two main objectives. First it aims to incorporate the writer and his work to the Brazilian cultural environrnent, since both remained, in spite of their aesthetic and cultural importance, lamentably unknown even to most of the gennanists in Brazil. Second, it hopes to further the critic reception ofthe author, as well as to contribute to the discussion of fundamental questions of aesthetics in general, since, on one hand, even though wordplay is crucial in the writers work, it hasn't been studied sufficiently so faro On the other hand, wordplay may be considered an exemplary agent of artistic expression by encompassing particular experiences and comprehension of the world, which are inherent characteristics of literature in his broadest sense. This text comprises, therefore, an initial part, extrinsic to literary analysis, which delineates biographical infonnation about the author and tries to out1ine the concept and history of wordplay. After that we attempt to establish, as an organising framework for the following reasoning, an inventory of the wordplay in Erich Fried's work. Chapters III imd IV are devoted to the merging of the two main themes in Fried's reuvre: psychoanalysis and engagement. Regarding t~e first, we criticise the genetic-structural method as a tool for literary analysis and suggest a metapsychological point of view, I capable of examining the role of art in the economyof life. As far as engagement is concerned, the text seeks to evince the opacity of a strict and sterile opposition between. pure and engaged poetry in Fried's work, as well as in poetry in general. Finally, the dissertation gathers the threads left loose along the exposition to weave between the poles subject - language, signifier - signified, ego - Oflzer, conscious - unconscious, familiar - uncanny, psyche - soma and pure poetry - engaged poetry, a mesh that allows us to characterise poetry as a hoax, a simulacrum, a substitutive fonnation, invested by mankind against the originary lack: its own transitoriness / Mestrado / Teoria e Critica Literaria / Mestre em Teoria e História Literária

[pt] A poesia de Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen: o poeta e a participação política defende a tese de que a missão do artista consiste em revelar a beleza da poesia inter-relacionada com a vida. Ele desempenha, para isso, diversos ofícios, dentre os quais a crítica da vida mundana no tempo dividido e o anúncio de um projeto poético e político onde aquela beleza seja vivenciada. Nessa missão, o poema assemelha-se a um homem, nascendo e enfrentando obstáculos semelhantes aos deste, sendo também um poeta que se compromete com a mesma causa, aprofundando a contestação social e mantendo o entrelaçamento da poesia com a vida. Assim, o poeta, bem como o poema, é exemplo do modo justo de se relacionar consigo próprio e com os outros, desvendando que a poesia é didática. Esta pesquisa fundamenta-se, não teoricamente, mas sim poética e politicamente, nas ideias compiladas nos ensaios andresenianos sobre a poesia e a arte, nos quais a poesia, o poeta, o poema e a vida possuem significados recorrentes e em contínua implicação. A tese conclui que Sophia Andresen é o exemplo do poeta que realiza a referida missão, através dos mencionados ofícios e da invenção poética de que o poema é um homem, ligando, portanto, a poesia e a vida na própria obra. / [en] The poetry of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen: the poet and the political participation defends the thesis that the poet has the mission of revealing the beauty of the poetry interrelated to life. The poet develops several tasks to accomplish his mission such as the criticism of the perverted life on his concept of divided time and the announcement of a poetic and political project of making the most of that beauty. On this mission, the poem is like a man, who is born and faces difficulties the same way it does; the poem is also a poet that commits to the same cause, deepening the social retort and keeping the alliance between poetry and life. Therefore, the poet, as well as the poem, is an example of a fair way to relate to himself and the others, revealing that poetry is didactic. This research is not based on theories, but on the poetic and political ideas compiled on Sophia Andresen s essays about poetry and art; on these essays the poetry, the poet, the poem and life have recurrent significations and constant implication. This thesis concludes that Sophia Andresen is the example of a poet that accomplishes the mission explained above because of the tasks mentioned before and also the poetic invention which says the poem is a man, connecting, therefore poetry and life on her work.
