Πύλη υπολογιστικού πλέγματος

Φουστέρης, Δημήτρης 11 January 2010 (has links)
Allowing Grid users, a widely accessible, homogeneous and easy to use graphical environment is the main objective of developing a grid portal. The design and implementation of these gates with a good and friendly, user manner, could trigger the dissemination of grid technologies, promoting their shift of from research to industrial application. This paper highlights the key issues in the development of Grid portals and attempts to build such a portal, based on the EGEE infastructure, utilizing the widespread use of Internet technologies. At the same time, an overview of grid technology is presented in order to understand the function and architecture, which will allow us to get an overall picture of the requirements and the method to be followed when creating the portal.

Extending Adoption of Innovation Theory with Consumer Influence: The Case of Personal Health Records (PHRs) and Patient Portals

January 2012 (has links)
abstract: A long tradition of adoption of innovations research in the information systems context suggests that innovative information systems are typically adopted by the largest companies, with the most slack resources and the most management support within competitive markets. Additionally, five behavioral characteristics (relative advantage, compatibility, observability, trialability, and complexity) are typically associated with demand-side adoption. Recent market trends suggest, though, that additional influences and contingencies may also be having a significant impact on adoption of innovative information systems--on both the supply and demand-sides. The primary objective of this dissertation is to extend our theoretical knowledge into a context where consumer influence is a key consideration. Specifically, this dissertation focuses on the Personal Health Record (PHR) and patient portal market due to its unique position as a mediator between supply (ambulatory care clinic) and demand-side (patient and health consumer) interests. Four studies are presented in this dissertation and include: 1) an econometric examination of the contingencies associated with supply-side (ambulatory care clinic) adoption of patient portals, 2) a behavioral assessment of patient PHR adoption intentions, 3) an integrated latent variable and discrete choice evaluation of consumer business model preferences for digital services (PHRs), and 4) an experimental evaluation of how digital service (patient portal) feature preferences are impacted by assimilation and contrast effects. The primary contribution of this dissertation is that adoption (and adoption intentions) of consumer information systems are significantly impacted by: 1) supply-side adoption contingencies (even when controlling for dominant-paradigm adoption of innovation characteristics), and 2) demand-side consumer preferences for business models and features in the context of assimilation-contrast (even when controlling for individual differences). Overall, this dissertation contributes a new understanding of how contingent factors, consumer perceived value, and assimilation/contrast of features are impacting adoption of consumer information systems / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Information Management 2012

Data Transformation Portal

Andersson, Sara January 2010 (has links)
The purpose with this report is to present the findings from the thesis work performed at Ipendo Systems. The goal was to develop a methodological support for the migration process and implement a web portal for migration of data. When a company acquires a new application to perhaps replace a legacy system, or to improve their efficiency and there by their competitiveness, the company’s data need to be transferred into the new application. The process of transfer the data from a source to a target is called data migration. Because the source and target systems probably have a somewhat different architecture some transformation to the data has to be made. The thesis is divided in two parts, a theoretical part where I learned about data migration and developed a methodological support for data migration projects. The second part of the thesis work was practical designed and I developed a data transformation portal. Data migrations are often a somewhat forgotten activity in a project. It is sometimes carried out without a proper plan or structure. To bring some structure to this important process I developed a methodological support. The methodological support is made like a guide for how to conduct data migration projects. The purpose of the methodological support is to make data migrations more visible as an own project and add more structure to it. The methodological support is divided into five phases. The five phases are planning, analysis, design, implementation and validation. Every step has its own milestones and deliverables so the support could be used as a sort of checklist during the project. have also developed a web portal in SharePoint. The purpose with a data transformation portal is to gather all data migration to one common area without a third-party migration tool and minimize the technical complexity associated with data migration projects. I have developed two modules for the portal. The first module concerns migration from an Excel document to a SharePoint list. The second module handles upload of documents to a SharePoint document library. The portal has functionality like data mapping, validation and setting of metadata. Migration of data is a specific process, depending of the type of data that should be migrated it requires a somewhat different approach. A data transformation portal which can visually monitor, filter, transform and import various types of data to and from various data sources would facilitate the migration process.

A Priority-Based Admission Control Scheme for Commercial Web Servers

Nafea, Ibtehal T., Younas, M., Holton, Robert, Awan, Irfan U. January 2014 (has links)
No / This paper investigates into the performance and load management of web servers that are deployed in commercial websites. Such websites offer various services such as flight/hotel booking, online banking, stock trading, and product purchases among others. Customers are increasingly relying on these round-the-clock services which are easier and (generally) cheaper to order. However, such an increasing number of customers' requests makes a greater demand on the web servers. This leads to web servers' overload and the consequential provisioning of inadequate level of service. This paper addresses these issues and proposes an admission control scheme which is based on the class-based priority scheme that classifies customer's requests into different classes. The proposed scheme is formally specified using -calculus and is implemented as a Java-based prototype system. The prototype system is used to simulate the behaviour of commercial website servers and to evaluate their performance in terms of response time, throughput, arrival rate, and the percentage of dropped requests. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly improves the performance of high priority requests but without causing adverse effects on low priority requests.

Benchmarking educational web portals : an application of the Kano method

MacDonald, Catherine Ann 30 March 2010 (has links)
The Kano method1 was used in order to determine the benchmark requirements of an educational web portal. A comprehensive list of possible specifications for an educational portal was constructed by examining the characteristics of educational portals globally. This information was used to develop a questionnaire in accordance with the Kano method. A number of hand-picked expert users were asked to answer the questionnaire. The results obtained from these questionnaires were used to categorize the importance of each component of a web portal as a “one-dimensional”2 , “must-be”3 or “attractive”4 requirement. The components categorized as “must-be” requirements were used to generate the benchmark of the minimum specifications of an educational web portal.
