Para tanto, partindo de uma descrição analítica dos nove Sermões de Santo Antônio de Vieira, estabelecemos comparações entre estas prédicas e narrativas hagiográficas antonianas medievais e modernas, a fim de demonstrar que, ao apropriar-se destas, o jesuíta ressignifica a figura do taumaturgo lisboeta / Abstract: The present dissertation investigates how the portuguese jesuit Antônio Vieira (1608-1697) represents Saint Anthony in the sermons that were dedicated to him. The objective is to understand why Vi eira attributed certain meanings to Saint Anthony in that historical period.
