Burian, Jaroslav January 2012 (has links)
OF PH.D. THESIS - RNDR. JAROSLAV BURIAN Abstract in English "Implementation of geospatial technologies into modeling of urbanization processes in strategic planning of city development" PhD thesis represents original author's approach to the modeling of urban processes by using GIS in Olomouc region. In theoretical part, urban processes and spatial structures of the cities are described in connection with geospatial technologies and digital data for studying, analysis, modeling and simulation. Practical part is divided into for separated parts to fluently binding and creating homogenous thematic block. The first part of the thesis analyses development of Olomouc city by using functional areas derived from historical urban plans (since 1930). The development of urban processes, spatial structures of the city and impacts of urbanization and suburbanization are evaluated. Second chapter describes identification, analysis and quantification of suburbanization in Olomouc suburban space. The main result is Toolbox "Suburban Analyst" in ArcGIS software that use multi- criteria evaluation method and allows identifying and quantifying suburbanization in municipalities' level. Third part analyses the readiness of municipalities and cadastral areas for suburbanization. The final values of readiness represent...

Method for specifying and modeling software factory\'s processes using RM-ODP and BPM.

Panigassi, Rogério 03 April 2007 (has links)
As consequence of many new incorporation of information systems usage on such different and innovative areas of the modern life-style, the actual software production demand will still face exponential growth (SHAW, 2000). In order to fulfill such demand new software production models, that can scale and support quality, are needed. Scale software production through a Software Factory model has been researched as an alternative worldwide on recent works. (LI, 2001) This work evaluates the Software Factory theme, explores its domain and investigates the challenges faced by the software factory\'s processes definition. It essays about a conceptual model for software factories\' processes definition which is denominated in this dissertation as Software Factory Processes\' Development Life Cycle. This work also instantiates this proposed conceptual model using industry models and standards, such as Open Distributing Processing (ODP), Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN), Capacity Maturity Mode integration (CMMI), and ISO/IEC12207, and builds a method that is later verified by its application on a case study. This dissertation brings contributions for real model alternatives for Software Factory\'s processes development.

Study on the use of microalgae and cyanobacteria for the fixation of carbon dioxide and production of raw materials for industrial applications.

Cruz, Rui Vogt Alves da 08 November 2011 (has links)
The use of microalgae and cyanobacteria for the production of biofuels and other substances of commercial interest has been widely advertised as an extremely promising sustainable technology, due to the high areal productivity, potential for fixation of CO2, possibility of using non-arable land and alternative sources of nutrients such as brackish water and agricultural and industrial effluents. The commercial production of cyanobacteria in open raceway ponds was studied through the combination of a mathematical model for the algal growth with technical, economical and sustainability evaluations. A macromodel was developed to simulate the ponds, and it was used to assess the impact of environmental variables, such as light and temperature, and to optimize the process conditions for operation and harvesting. A detailed economic analysis demonstrated the impact of capital, operation costs and energy consumption, also highlighting the importance of revenue from high value products to process viability, considering the current technology. The transformity, emergy sustainability and environmental loading indices obtained by emergy analysis are comparable to other second generation biofuels, but the high construction and operation costs and energy consumption by the harvesting and extraction steps still represent major challenges to sustainability. The sensitivity analysis and evaluation of both technology improvements and alternative business models enabled the prioritization of future research areas, based on economic and environmental impact.

Furthermore, they also face many administrative difficulties, particularly in issues surrounding labor and manpower hiring. Such occupations require a broad range of abilities, including manual labor jobs and jobs which require skilled technician duties. These factors associated to the stable nature of the sugar cane culture cause huge complications in its cost accounting. The purpose of this work is to examine the use of action research methodology as well as methods and techniques of business processes modeling to identify manpower cost drivers and to support a system development for distribution and allocation automation of these costs within the accounting.

Modélisation des processus de soins : vers une implantation de nouveaux services à valeur ajoutée / Modeling of healthcare processes : towards an implementation of new value-added services

Benabdejlil, Hajar 15 December 2016 (has links)
Today, the actors of public health face many challenges related to the ever-changing needs of an aging population and the increasing number of chronic diseases. These needs and the related cost, lead to rethink the care management and rationalize the patient healthcare pathways to make them more efficient. Our thesis work has the following main results.First a general introduction of the health system is presented, followed by an analysis of the evolution of the health system, its principles and its challenges. Next, we provided an overview of trends and organizational innovations in response to these challenges.Secondly, based on a bibliographic, we presented our definitions of pathways (healthcare, health, and life), their relative positioning and their influence on the challenges mentioned above. To model the pathways, we analyzed the concepts mentioned in the preceding definitions and we structured them into a meta-model. Then we used it to enrich an existing enterprise modeling language (GRAI Extended Actigram) and thus obtain a language totally suited to our needs. The latter was used to represent the heathcare processes of two examples of diseases, influenza A (H1N1) and COPD. In the frame of this presentation, methodological aspects were discussed (information resources, translation, etc.).Finally, on the basis of a state-of-the-art of the offered services by current computer platforms, we proposed a methodology for defining value-added services providing an improved access to information and improving the dynamics and efficiency of healthcare based on the modeled healthcare processes.
