Team process of college students' information system development projects

Sheu, Woan-Chyi 27 June 2000 (has links)
Project course is the necessary course of MIS departments of domestic universities at the present day. A team is composed of many students who are led by team advisor to apply the professional knowledge they learned and the human relationship skills they have. Team members develop information systems by communication¡Bcoordination and collaboration. In this research, the understanding of operation and critical factors that affected among members are studied. Our research found that the factors affected operation of team members are characteristics of team¡Bnorms of organization, and characteristics of project.. In detail, characteristics of team include the composition¡Bmotivation¡Bexperience of team members and the leading style of advisor. Norms of Organization include the standards of the course. Characteristics of project include the nature and the work structure of the project. Characteristics of team¡Bnorms of organization, and characteristics of project could affect the communication¡Bcoordination and collaboration of the team. Norms of organization would also affect the forming of characteristics of team. The process of team building would affect the achievement of task and the degree of satisfaction of team members.

We found that : (1) working design¡Ateam culture and leadership are positive effect in project performance. (2) team norm and leadership effect in performance management. We analysis different team for the public and the private company. We found that¡G team norm and leadership are positive effect in project performance for the public company . (2) team norm and leadership effect in performance management for the private company. They have leadership common factor in performance management. Engineering in a mountain resort town

Waters, Eric W 10 October 2008 (has links)
This Record of Study (ROS) summarizes the experiences and lessons learned while serving as an intern with Peak Land Consultants (PLC) in Vail, Colorado. The objectives of the internship were designed to provide benefits to myself, the United States Air Force Academy, and PLC. The first objective was to develop a business plan for a similar company in a mountain community. This provides a useful tool to begin a second career after retirement from the Air Force. The second objective was to build lesson plans based on the experience at PLC for the Air Force Academy cadets. Through the use of real engineering examples and by integrating civil engineering subjects across the curriculum, Air Force Academy cadets will be better prepared for their professional life as a civil engineer. The last objective was to provide PLC with an objective management review. The management review highlighted good practices and provided recommendations for further improvement in areas such as marketing, communication, project management, training, and company goals. Each one of the objectives was tested. The business plan was provided to a loan officer at Wells Fargo bank. The loan officer remarked that the plan was well researched. He also indicated that the bank was willing to provide a loan for the business. This positive result indicated that the objective to develop a business plan for a similar company in a mountain community was met. The second objective to build lesson plans for the Air Force Academy was also met. These plans were presented to a senior class in April 07. The cadets liked the idea of seeing how an engineer solves problems in the private sector. In addition, the cadets recognized the usefulness of AutoCAD in solving problems in their other classes. Finally, the objective for providing a management review of PLC also proved to be successful. PLC has already implemented a number of recommendations from the review and is using the review to build new company and employee goals.

Construction industry has been like a locomotive in leading Taiwan¡¦s industrial growth and influencing the development of Taiwan¡¦s economy. In facing current fierce competition and external environment, organizations not only have to strive for sustaining the business but also ensure the construction quality, project management and after-sales services for maintaining the corporate image and becoming a source of future profit. How to continuously improve the effectiveness and quality of each individual construction project has been an eventual goal to achieve Public constructions engineering have been the major business contributing to most of the civil engineering and construction companies. Once the firm wins the bidding case, quite many processes will be kicked off including material previewing, procurement, on construction and final acceptance. These processes are inherent with risks causing the obstacle in monthly payment of the engineering project fee. Government law of public procurement has been exercising for many years and creating process visibility to a certain extent with least bribery case. This research report is to elaborate the situations of citing and interpreting these Government laws of public procurement and general rules of the civil law to ensure the activities in the whole project life cycle are law-abiding. This research studies include respective bidding scenario of ¡§the-Lowest-price-gain bidding¡¨ and ¡§bidding by panel review decision¡¨ bases on cases of T-city. This report is to provide a project management framework of public construction case and personal suggestions for the existing firms or new comers from a stand point of contractors¡¦ point of view. Key words: Construction industry, public construction engineering, government law of public procurement, the-Lowest-price-gain bidding, bidding by panel review decision.
