The master's thesis focuses on project management. The basic terms of project management, the lifecycle of a project and project stakeholders are decribed in the theoretical part of the thesis. The EVM method and survey are characterized in the methodological part of the thesis. Afterwards Komerční banka, a.s. and its project management practice are presented. The essential part of the thesis consists of the analysis of a selected project and a survey in Komerční banka, a.s. The final part of the thesis presents recommended measures resulting from the analysis.

This research project focuses on understanding the reasons why projects executed within Denel UAVS do not meet the objectives as set out in beginning of the project and inevitably, the project fails. The aim of the study is to meet the following objectives: 1) To evaluate the effect the current project management process practiced within Denel UAVS has on project success. 2) To evaluate the effect of size and complexity of projects executed within Denel UAVS has on project success. 3) To establish the most important interpersonal skills required by project managers, within Denel UA VS for project success. 4) To evaluate the influence the current organisational structure within Denel UAVS has on project success. The research method for this research project consists of two phases: namely phase one - Literature Review and phase two - Empirical study. The Literature review was conducted to evaluate the common reasons for project failure and to gain a better understanding of defining project success. A survey questionnaire was distributed to employees of Denel UAVS to obtain quantitative data as part of the Empirical study. The research provides information on results obtained and specific analysis of data collected from employees within Denel UAVS. The research also provides information on the reasons for project failure within Denel UAVS. The formulation of performance measurements for software development projects

M.B.A / The performance of project delivery in the software development domain has a poor history of successes. This research focused on identifying some of the reasons for this poor performance for software development projects in order to propose a possible framework for measuring and evaluating a software development project's performance. The proposed framework is intended to link individual project performance into the strategic performance measurements for an organisation and hence includes the aspect of being able to evaluate an individual project's performance relative to other projects within a programme, organisation or industry. The research was conducted through in-depth interviews and literature studies. The following three Key findings resulted from this study: • Firstly that unless an organisation establishes upfront what the intended use of the measurements is, as well as how they as an organisation and project define "project success" in terms of their overall objectives, any measurements taken will be oflittle value. • Secondly that there is still strong support for the generic measurements of Time, Cost, and Quality all within good customer relations, however, these need to take into account the aspects of project complexity, project management skills, the team fit and the accuracy of the estimates. • Thirdly that the ultimate framework adopted by an organisation for measuring and evaluating project performance should be simple without being simplistic and hence should be generic and easy to implement across a broad range of projects.

A research report submitted to the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Engineering. Johannesburg 2017 / Following the involvement in a project where a bank implemented an electronic inventory management system, a need was identified for further research into the human elements influencing the success of such projects. An initial high level study of some available literature supported the idea of human factors playing an important role. The subsequent research question formulated was: What are the major human factors that influence the implementation of electronic systems to replace their manual paper-based counterparts, if any? From literature the major human factors to be analysed were identified as:  Leadership  Communication  Environment and culture  Change readiness By employing a mixed method research approach and analysing the change readiness assessment surveys, post-implementation surveys, project team observations and site key performance indicators (KPIs) of 3 implemented sites, these were all confirmed as factors influencing such implementations. These conclusions were graphically depicted in a proposed framework showing the relationship between leadership as the driving factor to influence culture and change readiness through communication. / MT2018

Thesis (M.DEV.) --University of Limpopo, 2013 / Recent changes in Modimolle Local Municipality have placed new external pressures and challenges on project managers change their ways of managing community projects in their sphere of operation. The above challenges had necessitated the researcher to investigate the challenges faced by managers in managing community projects in Modimolle Local Municipality of Limpopo Province. The management of community projects in Modimolle Local Municipality is fraught with challenges such as financial resources, lack of focus on economic development, improvement of livelihood, community participation, sustainability, delegation and also not adhering to Public Financial Management Act and Municipal Financial Management Act. To understand the total context of the challenges faced by managers in managing community projects, an in-depth study of this problem was done by means of relevant literature review, empirical study and variety of other suitable research techniques. Data was collected by means of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, from project managers who had an experience of community work in the area of the study. The studies have revealed that the management of community projects is not determined by one factor. It emerged that there are various factors that prohibit managers to manage community projects in their sphere of operation, hence the recommendations for improvement stated in chapter five.
