In 1998 they founded an association of breakers to combat the burning of the, whole coconut fighting in defense of the traditional culture of poconut oil, the environment, and seek to offer income alternatives to extractive workers in the village. By fighting this new practice, which according to them does more harm than good, they're looking for a process that is not new in this community, but conestron previous decades, when the Great Carajas Project was accomplished in the Amazon. Because of this, his work begins with this Project as oc starting point for a set of socio-cultural changes in the region. the community of Petrolina receives some of these influences, changing, in part, their habitus. In this sense, the traditional village goes hironger several changes. It is a reaction against some of these changes that this dissertations tries to show.
