Fog Protocol and FogKit: A JSON-Based Protocol and Framework for Communication Between Bluetooth-Enabled Wearable Internet of Things Devices

Lewson, Spencer 01 June 2015 (has links)
Advancements in technology have brought about a wide variety of devices, such as embedded devices with sensors and actuators, personal computers, smart devices, and health devices. Many of these devices are categorized as “wearables,” meaning that they are intended to be carried and used on one’s body. As this category increases in popularity and functionality, developers will need a convenient way for these devices to communicate with each other and store information in a standardized and ecient manner. The Fog protocol and FogKit framework developed and demonstrated for this thesis address these issues by providing a set of powerful features, including data posting, data querying, event notifications, and network status requests. These features are defined as convenient JSON formatted messages which can be communicated between Bluetooth peripherals using an iOS device running FogKit as router and server.

Zabezpečení VoIP sítí a jejich testování / Protection of VoIP networks and their testing

Ulický, Ivan January 2013 (has links)
Main goal of creating this diploma thesis is existence of increasingly amount of potential threats against IP voice networks (VoIP). The thesis is devoted to testing of various types of attacks and provides some possible solutions for this systems as well. The work points out to a various types of current attacks against either insecure or very little secure structures. The theoretical part is dedicated to analyse and description of wide spectrum of VoIP protocols including signaling protocols (SIP, IAX2), transport protocols (RTP, RTCP) and security protocols (SRTP, ZRTP, IPsec, SDES). Further attention is dedicated to the one of possible open source IP PBX solutions called Asterisk. There is shown a variety of possible attacks against this system due to its openness, because open systems always tend to be more susceptible for various attacks as they need an advanced administration and endless need for searching of new trends in area of security. The last block of the theoretical part is focused on common threats and types of attacks against VoIP networks. The practical part is about design and creation of web application called ,,VoIP Hacks using PHP” written in PHP scripting language and ist main task is to execute three basic attacks: eavesdropping, call drop and call flood. There is also a possibility of port scanning of selected network which is added as supplementary part of this application. The application can be comfortably managed from web browser user interface. All captured data can be displayed directly into the web browser. Tests of the application were performed on Google Chrome and Mozzila Firefox browsers. There is an accent placed on cooperation between the application and terminal linux programmes such as Tshark, BYE Teardown, INVITE flooder or Nmap, which all accept commands from web interface and interpret gained output values back to the web browser.

Effects of thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone on laryngeal motion during oral laryngoscopy in healthy dogs

Smalle, Tesh Michelle January 2016 (has links)
Objective: To compare the effects of thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone on arytenoid cartilage motion and establish dose rates to achieve a consistent oral laryngoscopy examination. Study design: Prospective, randomised, blinded crossover study. Animals: Six healthy adult beagle dogs. Methods: Each dog was administered three induction agents in a random order with a one week washout period between treatments. No premedication was used prior to induction of anaesthesia. Thiopental, propofol or alfaxalone were administered at 7.5 mg/kg, 3 mg/kg and 1.5 mg/kg, over 1 minute to effect, for induction of anaesthesia, respectively. If the dog was deemed inadequately anaesthetised then top-up boluses of 1.8 mg/kg, 0.75 mg/kg and 0.4 mg/kg, respectively, were administered over 10 seconds, repeated every 20 seconds, until an adequate anaesthetic plane had been reached. Continual examination of the larynx, using a laryngoscope, commenced once an adequate anaesthetic depth had been reached until recovery from anaesthesia. The number of arytenoid motions and deep inspiratory efforts (vital breaths) were counted within three time periods and compared over time among treatments. Data were analysed using Friedman test, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rho, linear mixed model with post-hoc pairwise comparison with Tukey correction. Results interpreted at a 5% level of significance. Results: The median (range) induction time was 2.8 (2.0, 3.0), 2.7 (2.0, 3.3) and 2.5 (1.7, 3.3) minutes for thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone, respectively (p = 0.727). The median (range) dose rate required to achieve an adequate depth of anaesthesia was 6.3 (6.0, 6.6), 2.4 (2.4, 2.4) and 1.2 (1.2, 1.2) mg/kg/minute for thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone, respectively. Therefore, the median (range) total dose administered over the induction time was 17.8 (13.2, 18.8), 6.8 (5.3, 8.3) and 3.2 (2.3, 4.1) mg/kg for thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone, respectively. There was no significant difference for the total number of arytenoid motions (p =0.662) or vital breaths (p = 0.789) among induction agents. The median (range) examination times were 14.1 (8.0, 41.8), 5.4 (3.3, 14.8) and 8.5 (3.8, 31.6) minutes for thiopental, propofol and alfaxalone, respectively (p=0.016). Conclusion and clinical relevance: There was no significant difference in the total number of arytenoid motions among the induction agents. However, at the dose rates used in this study, propofol provided adequate conditions for evaluation of the larynx within a shorter examination time which may be advantageous during laryngoscopy in dogs. / Mini Dissertation (MMedVet)--University of Pretoria, 2016. / Companion Animal Clinical Studies / MMedVet / Unrestricted

Generalizations of the Diffie-Hellman protocol : exposition and implementation

Van der Berg, J.S. 21 April 2008 (has links)
A generalisation of the Diffie-Hellman protocol is studied in this dissertation. In the generalisation polynomials are used to reduce the representation size of a public key and linear shift registers for more efficient computations. These changes are important for the implementation of the protocol in con- strained environments. The security of the Diffie-Hellman protocol and its generalisation is based on the same computations problems. Lastly three examples of the generalisation and their implementation are discussed. For two of the protocols, models are given to predict the execution time and it is determined how well these model predictions are. / Dissertation (MSc (Applied Mathematics))--University of Pretoria, 2007. / Mathematics and Applied Mathematics / MSc / unrestricted
