Nors šiuo metu Lietuvoje kairiarankystė tapo labiau toleruojama nei prieš keletą dešimtmečių (mokykloje vaikams leidžiama dirbti ta ranka, kuria jiems geriau sekasi), kairiarankystė dėl visuomenėje įsigalėjusių stereotipinių nuostatų dar neretai traktuojama kaip neįprastas reiškinys. Mokslininkų išvados apie kairiarankių gebėjimus yra prieštaringos: vieni teigia, kad kairiarankiai yra gabesnės ir kūrybingesnės asmenybės, kiti atvirkščiai – teigia, jog kairiarankių intelekto koeficiento vidurkis yra žemesnis nei dešiniarankių. Išsamiais tyrimais paremtas kairiarankių individualumo pažinimas gali padėti rasti neprievartinių pedagoginių priemonių, padedančių jiems adaptuotis dešiniarankiams pritaikytoje aplinkoje ir visapusiškai išskleisti savo gebėjimus bei talentus. Tyrimo objektas – pedagogų požiūris į vyresniųjų klasių kairiarankių akademinius gebėjimus ir mokinių psichoemocinės būklės ryšys ugdymo procese. Tyrimo tikslas – nustatyti, vyresniųjų klasių kairiarankių psichoemocinės būklės vertinimą: akademinių gebėjimų kontekste. Darbe keliamos hipotezės: 1) tikėtina, kad kairiarankiai yra intraversiškesni nei dešiniarankiai; 2) kiriarankiai yra jautresni negu dešiniarankiai; 3) tikėtina, kad ugdymo procese išryškėja kairiarankių ir dešiniarankių akademiniai gebėjimai. Tyrime dalyvavo 140 vyresniųjų klasių mokinių iš septynių Marijampolės apskrities vidurinių mokyklų. The conclusion of scientists about the abilities of the left – handed is contradictory: some of them claim that the left – handed are more gifted and more creative individuals, the other on the contrary say that the avarge of intelligence quotient of the left – handed is lower than the intelligence quotient of the right – handed. The cognition of the left – handed individuality based on thorough investigation can help to find nonviolent pedagogical ways in order to help the left – handed to adapt in the surroundings which are ajusted for the right – handed and to allow them to develop their abilities and talents.
