In order to achieve this goal, the study was based on memories of life stories of immigrants who lived in the neighborhoods of Coqueiral de Aracruz and Barra do Riacho, both located in the municipality of Aracruz, in north of the State of Esp?rito Santo (ES), Brazil, between the 1970s and 1980s. In the study period of time, those transformations were commonly attributed to industrial development and migrant influx. Therefore, it revealed the influence and predominance of these phenomena (industrialization and migrant movement) on the path of these psychosocial and urban transformations. For this purpose, the study addressed the creation of these neighborhoods, their history and, through comparative analysis, we presented aspects that consolidate the transformations identified from the 1970s to 2010. The research permeated qualitative aspects by allowing us to understand the reasons, interactions, actions and group relationships. The methodology employed for gathering and analyzing data is grounded on Social Psychology, supporting the Theory of Migrations and Study Field of Social Memory. / O presente estudo identificou transforma??es psicossociais e urbanas em Aracruz examinando-as ? luz da Psicologia Social. Para o alcance desse objetivo tomou-se por base as mem?rias contidas nas hist?rias de vida dos migrantes residentes nos bairros Coqueiral de Aracruz e Barra do Riacho, ambos situados em Aracruz, munic?pio do norte do Estado do Esp?rito Santo/ES, entre as d?cadas 1970 e 1980. Comumente, no per?odo temporal pesquisado, atribu?a-se tais transforma??es ao desenvolvimento industrial e movimento migrat?rio. Desvelou-se, portanto, a influ?ncia e preponder?ncia destes fen?menos (industrializa??o e movimento migrat?rio), no percurso destas transforma??es psicossociais e urbanas. Para tanto, discorreu-se sobre a funda??o os bairros, sua hist?ria e, por meio de an?lise comparativa, foram apresentados aspectos que consolidam as transforma??es identificadas a partir da d?cada de 1970 at? o ano de 2010. A pesquisa permeou metodologicamente aspectos qualitativos por propiciar discernimento que se referem aos motivos, intera??es, a??es e rela??es grupais. A metodologia aplicada no levantamento e an?lise de dados firmou-se na Psicologia Social, sustentando-se na Teoria das Migra??es e Campo de Estudo da Mem?ria Social.
