What impact has a fast fashion strategy on fashion companies´ supply chain management?

Hansson, Maria January 2011 (has links)
This study shows that the supply chain management of a company                                    using the fast fashion strategy is where the company combines their traditional supply chain with the modern demand driven Quick Response and Agile supply chain. In theory so far fast fashion is described only in terms of demand driven supply chain management however according to this research the fast fashion strategy is shown to be applied by fashion companies characterized by a mix of the traditional and modern demand driven supply chain.

QR-koden : ett nytt marknadsföringsverktyg med potential

Karlsson, Eric, Kristiansson, Oskar January 2012 (has links)
Title: The QR code – a new marketing tool with potential Author: Eric Karlsson and Oskar Kristiansson Supervisor: Klaus Solberg Søilen Level: Bachelor thesis, Marketing (15 credits), Spring semester 2012 Keywords: QR codes, marketing tools, interaction, incentives, strategy, Quick Response Codes, marketing, print media, smartphones, advertising, ROI Problem: How should companies use QR codes in their marketing activities? Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to, based on the theoretical framework and a qualitative study of five Swedish companies, identify how QR codes should be used in marketing activities. Furthermore, we strive to identify the advantages and disadvantages of QR codes to see what implications a successful as well as an unsuccessful use have for businesses. Theoretical framework: Here we present different theories for understanding the concepts that underlie and help to define the phenomenon QR codes and the use of them in marketing. The theoretical framework also help us to analyze our empirical data. Method: We have chosen a deductive approach to our thesis where we have studied previous research and information to be able to decide how to formulate the questions to the companies that we want to interview in our qualitative study. Empirical study: The empirical data is presented from interviews conducted with our five case companies. Conclusion: Our conclusion is that QR codes should be used in clear, informative and attractive way based on a clear strategy, and that they can favor companies from a marketing perspective, since a qualitative usage could reach and engage more consumers, and thus increase their sales and the brand awareness. However, the brand can be damaged instead of improved if QR codes are used in the wrong way.

No. of bitstreams: 1 TeseAGM.pdf: 2946187 bytes, checksum: 5394dae1eeb0847b3196cbbccb6d3b76 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2015-11-26 / Não recebi financiamento / In recent decades, the lead time reduction has become crucial to ensure the competition of enterprises. To address this, plus the abandonment of the tradit ional mindset based on efficiency and cost, to a mentality based on the reduction of lead time, companies began to incorporate in production management, principles and practices related, outstandingly, to the Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) and the Lean Manufacturing (LM). In this context, this work aims, according to companies located in Brazil, Europe, and in the USA: (I) Verify if the degree of knowledge of the exclusive principles of QRM approach is equal to the degree of knowledge regarding common concepts to LM and QRM, (II) Verify if the degree of knowledge of the exclusive principles of QRM is greater due to factors such as training, dissemination, and awareness, (III) Check if the mindset based on economies of scale and cost reduction is still the main obstacle in the degree of knowledge of the companies surveyed, (IV) Verify if the concepts / elements / exclusive practices QRM less adopted by companies are those related to the change of economies of scale and cost-based mindset, still fairly entrenched in enterprises, (V) Verify if there is a significant difference between the degree of implementation of QRM practices due to the region studied, and (VI) Check whether the use of concepts / elements / practices of LM favors the adoption of QRM. For this, it was carried out an exploratory survey with an intentional sample of companies in these regions who wish to reduce the lead time. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests. Concerning to the knowledge of the companies surveyed about the QRM, it was concluded that the level of knowledge about the exclusive practices of QRM is lower than in relation to the common practice at LM and QRM. The companies’ knowledge degree about the exclusive principles of QRM is possibly greater due to training, dissemination, and awareness and such factors are present more at the region of US. The mindset based on economies of scale and cost reduction is possibly the main barrier in the degree of knowledge in the companies surveyed. Concerning to the application of the QRM practices by companies surveyed, it was concluded that the extent of implementation of practices regarding the key concept "power of time" is lower than the other key concepts; there was not observed any statistically significant differences in the degree of implementation of QRM practices due to the region; the LM practices helps and contribute to the effort of implementation of QRM in companies that seek to reduce the lead time and; the concepts, elements and practices of QRM less adopted by companies are those related to the abandonment of the mindset based on economies of scale and cost reduction.

Saes, Elizangela Veloso 20 August 2010 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-06-02T19:51:45Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 3196.pdf: 1584882 bytes, checksum: e87305ed1643450b13fc00d6bac58c63 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2010-08-20 / The approach Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM) has been proposed in the late ninety, and since then, has been successfully deployed in many companies, achieving promising results in reduction of lead time in environments with high product variety. This approach, although already established abroad, mainly in the United States, is poorly known in Brazil as not to have official records of its practice, thus providing a vast new area of research. From this context that this dissertation aims to explore and understand the general ways to reduce lead time based on QRM and propose a practical application of this approach. For this objective to be achieved, we sought, first, the comprehensive review of the literature concerning the reduction of lead time, describing the tools and principles to reduce lead time in the QRM approach and then propose to implement some of the principles and tools of QRM in the production area in a business of writing. This proposed implementation of QRM is analyzed and validated by simulations that visualize the interactions of variables from the factory floor and the effects of these variables in the percentage of use of sectors in the intermediate level of inventory (WIP) and lead time. It is hoped that the practical implementation of the proposals to reach a 55% reduction from the current level of WIP company and up to 77% in the average lead time of its products. Thus, this research contributes to the theory and practice in management of manufacturing systems, showing the importance of reducing lead time and the effects and benefits of implementing QRM in a Brazilian company.

Pedro Claudinei Perin 25 August 2005 (has links)
This research proposes to build a methodology for standardization activities of a manufacturing process. The methodology consists of a selection of tools from lean manufacturing systems and of application method. The development of this methodology occurred in parallel with his application, when conceptions and tools are revised and adapted. The standardization methodology is based on kaizen event and whole application takes two months. The kaizen event is used at the first week, when the bets practice are defined and implemented. The rest of the schedule is used for follow up and improvement action implementation. The two last week are dedicated for results analyzes. At science literature, publications about manufacturing activities standardization are not much available. Considered that, it might affirm this research has academic contributions for the theme and organization can find some basic requirement for standardization work application. One of the important phases of the methodology is to define the best practice. The labor participation is one of the requirements for implementation successes. Their participation at the validation of task operator distribution and cycle time definition, ensure the maintenance of standardized work. A standardize process enable distinguish one normal condition of abnormal one. Then corrective action can be defined and implemented. This methodology presents a simple method to define the real install capacity andthe labor and machine utilization of the manufacturing cells. The application occurs at assembly supplier company. During the application, lean manufacturing concepts are disseminated and the people are instigated to find the waste into the process. This methodology is result of more than fourteen applications and one of then is used in this dissertation to describe the methodology.

Adjustment of default parameters in the Quick Response System package (QRS II) for developing communities in ORMET

Sikiotis, Lucas 20 May 2014 (has links)
M.Ing. (Transportation) / This reseach focused on a quick response transportation planning software package called QRS II which was developed by A J Horowitz at the Centre for Urban Transportation Studies, University of Wisconsin, United states of America. The programme achieves its quick response by incorporating, inter alia, a large number of default parameters within its formulation. Several of these parameters define the typical travel characteristics of the population within a study area and as such, suggest a particular socioeconomic, political, cultural and behavioral profile as existing in that area. These typical conditions may be representative of the behavior in many areas in the United States but may not adequately reflect conditions beyond that. This study has set out to determine whether the default parameters used in QRS II are different to those that would be appropriate in Black towns in areas such as the East Rand Metropolitan Transport Area (ORMET) in South Africa. Local parameter values were identified and compared with the default values in QRS II. It was found that these values were significantly different. More research is required before QRS II can be considered fully adapted to conditions in Black urban areas within a Metropolitan area such as ORMET. However, the new values suggested in this study will go a long way to improving the appropriateness of QRS II applications in South Africa.

Trial application of a computer based transportation planning network : Muncie, Indiana

Guisse, Amadou Wane January 1989 (has links)
The purpose of this project was to apply the Quick Response System II (QRS II), developed by Alan J. Horowitz, Center for Urban Transportation Studies, University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin, to the city of Muncie, Indiana. The QRS II model is one example of recent computer models intended for micro-computers, which may be useful for smaller cities with limited planning staff or computer capabilities. The main point is to be able to forecast the impacts of urban developments on highway traffic and the impacts of highway projects on travel pattern.QRS II determines the total number of person-trips generated by each zone of the study area. It accomplishes this step for three trip purposes: home-based work, home-based nonwork, nonhome-based trips. It then distributes these trips from any given origin zone to any given destination, converts highway person-trips to vehicle-trips and assigns them to the links in the highway network based on travel time, and finally split the number of person-trips between transit and automobiles. QRS II also was used to determine the impact of new construction on the surrounding street system. The purpose of the pro t was not to do a complete transportation study. It was rather a test application of QRS II using the 1980 census data of the city of Muncie. We simply tried to get QRS II set up, running, and calibrated according to the findings of the model. The following chapters show the theory behind it, the different outputs, the advantages and limitations. / Department of Urban Planning
