Performance analysis of transmission protocols for H.265 encoder

UMESH, AKELLA January 2015 (has links)
In recent years there has been a predominant increase in multimedia services such as live streaming, Video on Demand (VoD), video conferencing, videos for the learning. Streaming of high quality videos has become a challenge for service providers to enhance the user’s watching experience. The service providers cannot guarantee the perceived quality. In order to enhance the user’s expectations, it is also important to estimate the quality of video perceived by the user. There are different video streaming protocols that are used to stream from server to client. In this research, we aren’t focused on the user’s experience. We are mainly focused on the performance behavior of the protocols. In this study, we investigate the performance of the HTTP, RTSP and WebRTC protocols when streaming is carried out for H.265 encoder. The study addresses for the objective assessment of different protocols over VoD streaming at the network and application layers. Packet loss and delay variations are altered at the network layer using network emulator NetEm when streaming from server to client. The metrics at the network layer and application layer are collected and analyzed. The video is streamed from server to a client, the quality of the video is checked by some of the users. The research method has been carried out using an experimental testbed. The metrics such as packet counts at network layer and stream bitrate at application layer are collected for HTTP, RTSP and WebRTC protocols. Variable delays and packet losses are injected into the network to emulate real world. Based on the results obtained, it was found at the application layer that, out of the three protocols, HTTP, RTSP and WebRTC, the stream bitrate of the video transmitted using HTTP was less when compared to the other. Hence, HTTP performs better in the application layer. At the network layer, the packet counts of the video transmitted were collected using TCP port for HTTP and UDP port for RTSP and WebRTC protocols. The performance of HTTP was found to be stable in most of the scenarios. On comparing RTSP and WebRTC, the number of packet counts collected were more in number for RTSP when compared to WebRTC. This is because, the protocol and also the streamer are using more resources to transmit the video. Hence, both the protocols RTSP and WebRTC are performing better relatively.

Portálové řešení IPTV / IPTV Portal

Pápai, Michal January 2011 (has links)
This master's thesis is focused on IPTV based on multicast technology. The main aim of this work is to provide detailed analysis of system for watching TV over IP network. It also describes components of IPTV architecture. This master's thesis also discussing about authentication and administration of settopboxes, deals with efficient distribution firmware for STB over multicast and tries to propose and implement portal which provides customer services. It describes the interface development as web service for interconnecting with another management, monitoring and billing information systems. The solution is implemented as a modul into an existing IS of commercial internet service provider.

Two different designs based on ISMA's recommendation are constructed and evaluated. The designs have different levels of complexity and the more complex design is found to be better due to its extended functionality. During the design process a number of problems related to this kind of set-top box are discovered. It is believed, however, that many of these problems will be solved within the near future.

Datenübertragung per RTSP

Lötzsch, Steffen 07 June 2002 (has links) (PDF)

Live Video Streaming from Android-Enabled Devices to Web Browsers

Bailey, Justin M. 01 January 2011 (has links)
The wide-spread adoption of camera-embedded mobile devices along with the ubiquitous connection via WiFi or cellular networks enables people to visually report live events. Current solutions limit the configurability of such services by allowing video streaming only to fixed servers. In addition, the business models of the companies that provide such (free) services insert visual ads in the streamed videos, leading to unnecessary resource consumption. This thesis proposes an architecture of a real-time video streaming service from an Android mobile device to a server of the user's choice. The real-time video can then be viewed from a web browser. The project builds on open-source code and open protocols to implement a set of software components that successfully stream live video. Experimental evaluations show practical resource consumption and a good quality of the streamed video. Furthermore, the architecture is scalable and can support large number of simultaneous streams with additional increase in hardware resources.

Um modelo para a implementação de vídeo sob demanda em ambientes corporativos / An Implementation model for video on demand in corporative environments

Feitosa, Eduardo Luzeiro January 2001 (has links)
Based on technological development, the applications of video multimedia related to video on demand (VoD) have been more and more used. Since it has been applicable to commercial, entertainment, and educational field, video on demand is, or will be, used in a corporative environment. Multimedia data, especially video, require such quality of service and guarantees, but the problem is: how to get such assurances into corporative networks. Therefore, this work proposes an implementation model for video on demand applications in corporative environments. For this reason, it will present the basic requirements of the service, as well as, it standards and models, and also multimedia protocols that can be put into effects to development of the model and to its validity through a prototype.
