A vitória na eleição desses vereadores comunistas representa um marco histórico sem precedentes na história da política pernambucana, haja vista a origem proletária de parte substancial dos eleitos e sua procedência partidária. Entretanto, a tendência anticomunista e o conservadorismo das elites políticas pernambucanas aniquilaram essas forças populares. Todo o processo de perseguição culminou com a cassação desses mandatos na Câmara Municipal do Recife, em 15 de junho de 1950. Utilizando como principais fontes de pesquisa os principais jornais pernambucanos dos anos de 1947 a 1950, o acervo da hemeroteca do Arquivo Público Estadual de Pernambuco e os prontuários do Departamento de Ordem Política e Social de Pernambuco, discorreu-se sobre as lutas e vivências políticas cotidianas desses vereadores em sua tentativa de manter seus mandatos até o processo que resultou na cassação dos mesmos. / The dissertation aims to analyze the cassation process of the mandates of 12 communist city council members elected by the Progressive Social Party on 26 October 1947. The election of these communist council members represents an unprecedented milestone in the History of Pernambuco politics, considering the proletarian origin of a substantial part of the elected council members and their political party. However, the anti-communist trend and the conservatism of Pernambuco political elites annihilated these popular forces. The persecution process culminated in the cassation of these mandates in the City Council of Recife, on 15 June 1950. The dissertation uses as main research sources the main newspapers of the State of Pernambuco from the year 1947 to 1950, the newspaper library's collection of the Public State Archive of Pernambuco (Arquivo Público Estadual de Pernambuco) and the records of the Department of Political and Social Order of Pernambuco. The main subject of this research is the struggle and everyday political experiences of these councilors in their attempt to keep their mandate until the process that resulted in their cassation.
