Its central point is the analysis of blind children`s books relief illustrations` tactile recognition. For this purpose it has been observed the manner in which this kind of illustration`s resource is being used, its possibilities, its commitments, its extent and limits. For the study four child books have been chosen as research s instruments, considered inclusive, with text and illustration in ink, text in Braille and illustration in relief: A Bruxa mais velha do mundo, by Elizete Lisboa, illustrated by José Carlos Aragão (São Paulo: Paulinas, 2005); Firirim Finfim, by Elizete Lisboa, illustrated by Anna Raquel (São Paulo: Paulinas, 2007); Um Presente muito Especial, by Patrícia Engel Secco, illustrated by Edu A. Engel and Um Mundinho Para Todos, by Ingrid Bellinghausen, with author s illustrations (São Paulo: DCL, 2006). The theoretical base is related to the research about the implications of the blindness and the haptic recognition of bi-dimensional configurations of Yvette Hatwell, Oliver Sacks, Susanna Millar and Maria Lúcia Amiralian. It was also searched Georges-Henry Luquet`s studies on children`s drawing, and for been a special process, the tactile image`s apprehension was interpreted by another way of analysis, experimentally denominated Tactile-Appearance Analysis of the Form. For this, the theoretical support was found in Gombrich, Arnheim and Bernard Darras, who deal with the form as representation, graphical project and iconotipo. About graphical project, blind people drawing`s production and the current cognitive processes of these implications, it was searched to elucidate doubts in the research of John M. Kennedy, Maria Lúcia Batezat Duarte and Bernard Darras. The field research was consisted of registers in audio and video of the relief image`s reading moments by the blind children, with the authors and illustrators interviews, beyond bibliographical research. The methodology used for analysis of these data about the field research was the Analysis of Content. The index of illustration s tactile recognition was low e of bigger occurrence between that they draw. The illustrations with bigger index of recognition had been the plain forms, geometric figures and projects / A presente dissertação, inserida na linha de pesquisa Ensino das Artes Visuais, apresenta-se como requisito para a obtenção do título de Mestre em Artes Visuais, pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina. Seu eixo central é a análise do reconhecimento tátil das ilustrações em relevo no livro infantil para crianças cegas; para tanto foram observados os modos como vem sendo utilizado o recurso desta espécie de ilustração, suas possibilidades, seus comprometimentos, abrangências e limites. Para a investigação foram escolhidos como instrumentos de pesquisa quatro livros infantis, considerados inclusivos, com texto e ilustração em tinta, e texto em Braille e ilustração em relevo: A Bruxa mais velha do mundo, de Elizete Lisboa, ilustrado por José Carlos Aragão (São Paulo: Paulinas, 2005); Firirim Finfim, de Elizete Lisboa, ilustrado por Anna Raquel (São Paulo: Paulinas, 2007); Um Presente muito Especial, de Patrícia Engel Secco, ilustrado por Edu A. Engel [s. n.] e Um Mundinho Para Todos, de Ingrid Bellinghausen, com ilustrações da autora (São Paulo: DCL, 2006). O embasamento teórico está relacionado às pesquisas sobre as implicações da invisualidade e o reconhecimento háptico de configurações bidimensionais de Yvette Hatwell, Oliver Sacks, Susanna Millar e Maria Lúcia Amiralian. Buscou-se ainda os estudos sobre desenho infantil, de Georges-Henry Luquet e, por se processar de modo específico, a apreensão tátil das imagens foi interpretada por um outro modo de análise, denominada experimentalmente como Análise Tátil-Visual da Forma. Para isto, o suporte teórico foi encontrado em Gombrich, Arnheim e Bernard Darras, que tratam da forma como representação, esquema gráfico e iconotipo. Sobre esquema gráfico, produção de desenho por pessoas cegas e os processos cognitivos decorrentes destas implicações, buscou-se elucidar dúvidas nas pesquisas de John M. Kennedy, Maria Lúcia Batezat Duarte e Bernard Darras. A pesquisa de campo constituiu-se de registros em áudio e vídeo dos momentos de leitura das imagens em relevo pelas crianças cegas, das entrevistas com as crianças, autores e ilustradores, além da pesquisa bibliográfica. A metodologia utilizada para a análise destes dados da pesquisa de campo foi a Análise de Conteúdo. O índice de reconhecimento tátil das ilustrações pelos indivíduos abordados foi baixo, porém a maior ocorrência de reconhecimento tátil foi constatada entre os que desenham.
