Laiko mašina magistro baigiamojo darbo aiškinamasis raštas / The Time Machine

Mikutavičius, Mantas 03 July 2014 (has links)
O viso to centras esu AŠ. / The Time Machine The Time Machine - invented, but every day visible object - a mirror. Visible reflection does the subconscious mind and changing light - reflection: What has been left behind, who will be standing in front of us. I dream, I look at the sky, I look down unfulfilled dreams. In parallel, we encounter everyday-tion's choice - left or right. And all that I am the center.

Knowledge, learning and reflection : consulting in communities of practice

Lawday, Geoff January 2009 (has links)
The objectives of the research was to identify how knowledge, learning and reflection is mediated in communities of practice. The overall aim was to base the evidence from the lived experiences of those who are part of the communities of practice under study. The research was undertaken through a qualitative inquiry using a social constructionist perspective. The research was pursued through participative action research in one case study organisation, and through participative observation, or observation in fifteen others. The key findings of this inquiry include six sociological elements which were common to all sixteen organisations. Further, four key knowledge flow processes were consistent across all cases. In total forty-one main findings were identified to the pursued research questions. Two conceptual models of learning and reflection were presented as ways to help understand how knowledge, learning and reflection are mediated in communities of practice. The models can be used at different levels of abstraction and conceptualisation. The study provides original insights into consulting activity within communities of practice, and highlights key themes based upon the lived experiences of the participants in the inquiry.

Reflection as a teacher education concept, connotation and implementation : a qualitative case study of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary) Programme at a UK university

Khan, Muhammad Ilyas January 2012 (has links)
This thesis reports a qualitative case study exploring the connotation and implementation of reflection as an educational concept in a PGCE (secondary) programme at a UK university in the light of the perceptions of university tutors and student teachers. Reflection has been an important concept in many teacher education programmes but it has consistently been intricate in terms of its connotation and implementation and despite a vast amount of research aimed at deconstructing its complexity, the matter does not seem to have been resolved. Despite its conceptual complexity it has often been taken in its common sense meaning by practitioners in educational programmes and is, at times, turned into a slogan. This study was, therefore, aimed at an exploration of the meaning and implementation of the concept and the various factors that influence it in the programme under study. The findings of the study reveal that, true to its reputation, the concept defies any agreed upon understanding. On a conceptual level there was recognition of its complexity among the university tutors, although this did not come out in the case of student teachers who predominantly defined it in its common sense meaning. At the implementation level the common sense practice-oriented connotation appeared to prevail among both groups. Factors influencing this orientation included the practical emphasis of the PGCE, the focus on response to the centralised QTS standards, the time-work balance and the under-appreciation for theory in its technical-rational conceptualisation in the predominantly skill-oriented and subject-teaching focused structure of the training. The study implies that for reflection to be appreciated and implemented at the deeper, conceptual and critical level, it should be put into practice more overtly with elaborate theoretical underpinnings. This would call for changes in this and similar programmes in terms of structure, content and aims.

Tectono-stratigraphic and climatic record of the NE Arabian Sea

Calvès, Gérôme January 2009 (has links)
This study describes the tectono-stratigraphic and climatic record of the NE Arabian Sea during the Cenozoic.  Compilation of regional knowledge and subsurface observations has in this thesis provided new interpretations and insights into the records present along this passive margin.  The first is the rifting period (80-65 Ma) and the identification of a syn-rift volcanic sequence, comparable to other volcanic rifted margins.  This is followed by the record of a drift sequence (~65 Ma to present day), composed of extensive carbonate platforms and an infill sequence of siliciclastic deposits.  The analysed drift sequence (sink) is partly the result of the erosion of the hinterland (source) characterised by the India-Eurasia continent-continent collision.  Influence of regional climate and/or tectonic forces on the accumulation rate in the sink was tested, but not conclusive as the study area (Upper Indus Fan) covers only a limited part of the sedimentary record of the Indus Fan.  The thermal regime of the western margin of India is sparsely sampled, but once analysed, allows the definition of first order constraints on multiple rifting events.  The post-rift subsidence of the margin is slow and anomalous for >28 m.y. after break-up, potentially in relation with vigorous asthenospheric convection and a sharp ocean-continent boundary.  Past and present fluid flow is recorded in the sedimentary sequence of the Upper Indus Fan.  The first is related to gas hydrate occurrence and is the result of the migration of fluids by a plumbing system to the shallow subsurface, expressed by bottom-simulating reflections crosscutting stratal reflections.  A longer term fluid migration is recorded in this basin by the longest lived (~22 m.y.) mud volcano field recorded to date.

Extensions to Jinni Mobile Agent Architecture

Tyagi, Satyam 05 1900 (has links)
We extend the Jinni mobile agent architecture with a multicast network transport layer, an agent-to-agent delegation mechanism and a reflection based Prolog-to-Java interface. To ensure that our agent infrastructure runs efficiently, independently of router-level multicast support, we describe a blackboard based algorithm for locating a randomly roaming agent. As part of the agent-to-agent delegation mechanism, we describe an alternative to code-fetching mechanism for stronger mobility of mobile agents with less network overhead. In the context of direct and reflection based extension mechanisms for Jinni, we describe the design and the implementation of a reflection based Prolog-to-Java interface. The presence of subtyping and method overloading makes finding the most specific method corresponding to a Prolog call pattern fairly difficult. We describe a run-time algorithm which provides accurate handling of overloaded methods beyond Java's reflection package's limitations.

Investigations into the impact of the lower boundary condition on the reflected solar radiance field

Hungershöfer, Katja, Trautmann, Thomas 10 January 2017 (has links) (PDF)
It is presented how the original isotropic boundary condition in a Gauss-Seidel radiative transfer model is generalized to describe an angular dependent surface reflection. A symmetry about the plane of incidence is assumed since the general case of an arbitrary non-symmetric reflection is to costly. As a result using Hapke\'s BRDF the upward radiance at the surface and the top of the atmosphere are discussed and compared to the results with the original isotropic boundary condition. In addition we discuss the impact of Rayleigh scattering and aerosol extinction on the reflected solar radiance field.

Long-term behaviour of E-region nighttime LF reflection heights

Kürschner, Dierk, Jacobi, Christoph 11 January 2017 (has links) (PDF)
The nighttime reflection height of low-frequency (LF) radio waves at oblique incidence is measured at Collm Observatory using 1.8 kHz sideband phase comparisons between the sky wave and the ground wave of a commercial 177 kHz LF transmitter. The measurements have been carried out continuously since September 1982, now allowing the analysis of trends and regular variations of the reflection height. In the time series is found a) a long-term negative trend and b) a solar cycle dependence, both confirming earlier measurements and theoretical estimations. Moreover, a significant oscillation of quasi-biennial period is visible in LF reflection heights, indicating a reaction of the midlatitude mesosphere/lower thermosphere region on the equatorial quasi biennial oscillation.

L'apparition du moi et la genèse de la réflexion chez Maine de Biran / The Appearance of the Self and the Genesis of Reflection in Maine de Biran

Echigo, Keiichi 15 March 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to read the texts of Maine de Biran as a philosophy of the appearance of the self and the genesis of reflective thinking. The first two chapters measure the reach of criticism which Biran did toward the supposition of the innate subject at the time of his "total revolution" of 1804. It is his criticism of Destutt de Tracy and Locke. Two predecessors, presupposing the idea of the self already formed and the reflection already completed, left their researches of the thinking subject incomplete. By critics of these two thinkers, Biran deepened his understanding of "reflection", and based it on the birth of the self. Chapters 3 and 4 examine two fruits of these criticisms, namely the psycho-physiological parallelism which Biran applies to the research on the appearance of the self, and the concept of "reflection" as the process of deepening the internal point of view. Chapter 3 examines considerations of Biran on the appearance of a willing and conscious individual, referring to his criticism of Xavier Bichat. This research concerns the transition between the involuntary and the voluntary, which the spontaneity connects. The last chapter explains the concept of reflection as a formation process of reflective thought with the difference of degrees of depth. This chapter shows that this concept serves to connect the first apperception to the "réflexion supérieure" that provides metaphysical notions, and that this process can be analyzed in two aspects: duplication of the apperception and concentration to the immediate apperception.

Quantum corrections to the classical reflection factor of the sinh-Gordon model

Chenaghlou, Alireza January 2000 (has links)
This thesis studies the quantum reflection factor of the sinh-Gordon model under boundary conditions consistent with integrability. First, we review the affine Toda field theory in Chapter One. In particular, the classical and quantum integrability of the theory are reviewed on the whole line and on the half-line as well, that is, in the presence of a boundary. We next consider the sinh-Gordon model which is restricted to a half-line by boundary conditions maintaining integrability in Chapter Two. A perturbative calculation of the reflection factor is given to one loop order in the bulk coupling and to first order in the difference of the two parameters introduced at the boundary. The result provides a further verification of Ghoshal's formula. The calculation is consistent with a conjecture for the general dependence of the reflection factor on the boundary parameters and the bulk coupling. In Chapter Three, quantum corrections to the classical reflection factor of the sinh-Gordon model are studied up to second order in the difference of boundary data and to one loop order in the bulk coupling. Chapter Four deals with the quantum reflection factor for the sinh-Gordon model with general boundary conditions. The model is studied under boundary conditions which are compatible with integrability and in the framework of the conventional perturbation theory generalised to the affine Toda field theory. It is found that the general form of a subset of the related quantum corrections are hypergeometric functions. Finally, we sum up this thesis in Chapter Five along with some conclusions and suggestions for further future studies.
