Buscamos, com o presente trabalho, compreender a real situação dos rendimentos paroquiais e os seus efeitos sociais e econômicos nas relações entre clero e paroquianos, bem como destes com a Coroa, responsável pela manutenção financeira da Igreja no Brasil, devido ao Padroado Régio. Assim, investigamos as estratégias do clero para ver seus rendimentos aumentados, o interesse dos fiéis em terem uma melhor assistência espiritual, e a posição da Coroa que pretendia mediar as tensões decorrentes dos problemas econômicos paroquiais. / The low value of the payment received by the diocesan clergy in Brazil had been object of frequent claims during the colonial period, especially on the parochial sphere. The aim of the present work is to comprehend the real situation of the parochial income and it’s economical and social effects on the relations between clergy and parishioners, as well as those with the Crown, responsable for the financial sustenance of the Church in Brazil, due to “Royal Patronato”. This way, we look into the strategies of the clergy to increase it’s income, the concern of the parishioners on having a better spiritual assitance, and the position of the Crown, which intended to intermediate the tensions resultant of the economical problems of the parishes.
