The Master’s Thesis ‘Relative Solmization System as Training Factor in Primary Grades of Music School’ analyses the importance of the application of the relative system to the quality of solfeggio exercises during solfeggio lessons. The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the main features of application of the system of relative solmization for primary grade pupils of a children music school and examine the development of their music abilities at solfeggio lessons. The hypothesis presented in this thesis maintains that the solmization skills are developed efficiently provided the training process is based on the relative solmization system. Chapter 1 presents a review of the importance of the solfeggio subject within the whole musical ability development process, teaching the solfeggio in the primary grades, main features relating to the application of the system of relative solmization for the purposes of development of the self-expression among the pupils at solfeggio lessons. Chapter 2 contains an analysis of manifestations of relativity in the process of musical education of primary grade schoolchildren. The importance of musical notation, key and rhythm in the primary grade musical education system is discussed. Chapter 3 presents data gathered through a questionnaire based poll conducted among primary grade schoolchildren and an analysis of empirical research which supported the hypothesis of efficiency of relative solfeggio system.
