Dentre os vestígios arqueológicos encontrados em uma das quadras pesquisadas (Q55), que margeia a Rua de São Jorge, ressaltamos edificações remanescentes de antigas construções ali erguidas. Um conjunto de 14 fundações históricas de grande potencial informativo que materializaram as ações de povos do passado. Esses achados levantaram ao questionamento a cerca dessas edificações, se corresponderiam às primeiras residências erguidas na referida Rua de São Jorge. Desse modo, este trabalho teve por objetivo a realização de análises dos elementos que permitiram situar essas edificações cronologicamente. Para alcançar este objetivo, foi empregada uma metodologia que envolve estudos históricos, cartográficos, iconográficos e análise das estruturas arquitetônicas encontradas. O uso do espaço, a ocupação do “chão” nos levou a entender os momentos determinantes que se refletiram naquele espaço construído. / Between 2010 and 2014 a series of archaeological excavations were carried out in Recife, in the area of Pilar Community, under the Project of Urban Renewal of that community. Among the archaeological remains found in one of the surveyed block (Q55), which runs along the São Jorge street, we emphasize remaining structures of old buildings erected there. A set of 14 historical foundations of great informative potential that materialized the actions of the people of the past. These findings raised the question about these buildings, if they would correspond to the first homes built in the São Jorge street. Thus, this study aimed at the analysis of the factors by which to chronologically situate these buildings. To accomplish this, we used a methodology that involved historical, cartographic and iconographic studies, and analysis of the architectural structures found. The use of space, the occupation of the "floor" has led us to understand the decisive moments that reflected in that space built.
