Skateboarding is a very popular sport in our country, practiced with a skateboard, preferably on a flat surface, anywhere you can roll such as stairs, streets, parks or skate parks, doing some trick, jump or just gliding through the streets. Currently skate parks are the preferred places for lovers of this sport, which began to appear in Peru due to the support that municipalities have been providing for these new athletes. The reasons that lead to the practice of this sport are: keeping a good physical shape, spending time with friends and relax. They also use the skateboard as a means of transportation. This is a sport in which clothing and accessories play a very important role that is why there is an entire industry that deals with selling various types of products and promoting their skater look such as skateshops, which are growing thanks to the increasing popularity of skateboarding. The initial purpose of this project was to seek and understand the needs and shortcomings that exist in this sport. It is observed how the image of the skateboarder is being valued and accepted as a potential group for the development of an entire industry aimed at them and start up the development and elaboration of a functional product, that provides a practical and innovative solution for skaters, achieving a well-valued that exceeds the expectations of this consumer profile and that can meet their needs. In order to comply with our value proposition, Xtreme Land has designed a protector made of leather which allows longer life of the shoes, one of the most critical accessories between the skater and the board which they deteriorate due to contact with the sandpaper of the skate and the requirement of its use when performing the tricks. Also our product will have a functional design, efficient and easy to use. / Trabajo de investigación

Clustering of the Stockholm County housing market / Klustring av bostadsmarknaden i Stockholms län

Madsen, Christopher January 2019 (has links)
In this thesis a clustering of the Stockholm county housing market has been performed using different clustering methods. Data has been derived and different geographical constraints have been used. DeSO areas (Demographic statistical areas), developed by SCB, have been used to divide the housing market in to smaller regions for which the derived variables have been calculated. Hierarchical clustering methods, SKATER and Gaussian mixture models have been applied. Methods using different kinds of geographical constraints have also been applied in an attempt to create more geographically contiguous clusters. The different methods are then compared with respect to performance and stability. The best performing method is the Gaussian mixture model EII, also known as the K-means algorithm. The most stable method when applied to bootstrapped samples is the ClustGeo-method.

Yellow Pacific on White ice : transnational, postcolonial and genealogical reading of Asian American and Asian female figure skaters in the US media

Seo, Jae Chul 01 December 2014 (has links)
The purpose of this study is to explore the cultural meanings of Asian/American and Asian female skaters through an examination of the US media narratives of them from a period beginning in the early 1980s and ending in the late 2000s. Main subjects are Tiffany Chin (Taiwanese American), Kristi Yamaguchi (Japanese American), Michele Kwan (Chinese American), and a group of Asians such as Japanese skaters (Midori Ito, Yuka Sato, Shizuka Arakawa and Asada Mao), Chinese skaters (Chen Lu), and Korean skater (Yu-Na Kim). Drawing on Reading Sport Project as a methodological tool and the Sporting Black Atlantic as a theoretical tool, I deploy what I call the Sporting Yellow Pacific as a theoretical reading frame for this project. It refers to a genealogical space that is geographically transnational and historically neo colonial, in which the difference of Asian females is epistemologically subjected as ‘Other’ in the ontological space of American white national imagination. With this frame, I attempt to conceptualize the skaters as what I call the yellow female skater, a racialized and gendered sporting icon, which signifies a number of sets of complex and sometimes ambivalent images: nationally American but racially Asian; culturally favored as a model minority but also perilous and foreign as yellow peril; naturally primitive and/or childish but also hyper-sexual and exotic; and, biologically talented or superior but aesthetically underdeveloped. Through an analysis of these images in relation to representation, discourse, and power, I eventually write this dissertation as a genealogy that traces a historical trajectory of the yellow female skater.

Deep play, urban space, adolescent place: a multi-sited study of the effects of settings on adolescent risk/reward behavior

Shirtcliff, Benjamin A 18 May 2012 (has links)
The extant literature on the play behavior of youth normalizes adolescent behavior in public space as transgressional, resistant, and in need of social control. The dissertation counters this trend by looking to see if physical qualities, peer effects, and neighborhood context of settings play a deeper role in youth behavior. The study documented urban context, peer effects, physical features, and play behavior across 21 urban settings in New Orleans. Unobtrusive observations employed a highly innovative technique based on YouTube videos and analyzed using hierarchical linear modeling. Coded observations of risk-taking and prosocial behavior demonstrated some stability in behavior amongst adolescents—“youth” ages 12-19—within each site, suggesting that site-specific factors can constrain youth behavior. Yet, more interesting, teens appropriated sites. Specifically, the study found that (a) adolescents consistently adapt play behavior due to settings and (b) that adolescents adapt sites to support play behavior. The latter finding is novel and diverges from normative theory on adolescent behavior by suggesting that teens exercise interdependence when engaging in urban environments away from home and school. Interdependence is a term derived from economics that means mutual dependence upon others for some needs. That adolescents display increased risk-taking behavior in environments with low appropriation and increased prosocial behavior in environments with high appropriation advocates for cities to support adolescent appropriation of urban space.

Pravidla projektování komunikací pro bruslaře / Rules designing roads for skaters

Skalická, Petra Unknown Date (has links)
The dissertation deals with non-motorized transport. Specifically, it focuses directly on the new non-motorized traffic sector, which is the riders of roller skates. Title of the dissertation The rules for designing roads for skaters were selected from the point of view of unresolved issues. The main goal of the dissertation is to enable the legislative inclusion of skaters as a separate group into the transport hierarchy so that they can gain space for their movement in the transport area. The result should be primarily a reduction in accidents and an increase in road safety for non-motorized vehicles. Other objectives of the thesis include the creation of design parameter tables for methodological instructions based on the analysis of the data obtained by measuring and determining the critical traffic intensity on existing roads. The dissertation summarizes the current issue of non-motorized transport, but especially the issue of skaters transport. It assesses the situation in the Czech Republic compared to the conditions abroad. It explains the physical patterns of the skater's movements, based on which the spatial demands on the used transport space are derived. The following is an overview of selected methods dealing with measurement and evaluation of transport speeds and intensities. Depending on the values found, rules are then created for designing the basic parameters of the skateboard trail network, which includes, for example, traffic sign design and construction requirements.
