Co-ocorrência de uso problemático de álcool e transtorno mental comum em estudantes de graduação da área da saúde / Co-occurrence between problematic use of alcohol and common mental disorders in college students of the health area.

Yosetake, Lincoln Luiz 13 December 2007 (has links)
The study time at the university is reported as a risky phase for problematic use of alcohol (UPA) as well for common mental disorders (TMC). It is important to evaluate the topic of co-occurrence of UPA and TMC amongst university students considering that this topic has been scarcely mentioned in scientific papers. This cross-sectional study used the AUDIT and SRQ-20 screening instruments in order to assess the prevalence of UPA and TMC and the co-occurrence of UPA and TMC in a sample of university students of the health area, characterized by mean of age of 22 years and mostly female (65.6%). Also it examined the association between these conditions and their relationship with satisfaction regarding aspects of the academic life. The prevalence of UPA was of 23.5%, TMC of 30.6% and co-occurrence of UPA and TMC of 7.3%. The average total score of AUDIT was of 4.8 (SD=4.42) and the SRQ-20 of 4.0 (SD=4.0). Significant associations of TMC as well the co-occurrence between UPA and TMC have been found with: - dissatisfaction with the selected career, dissatisfaction with the academic program and dissatisfaction with the own performance as student. No correlation between UPA and TMC has been found in this sample. The co-occurrence of UPA and TMC is present amongst undergraduate students and its consequences are mental health problems and frustration with academic achievements which occurring in this important phase of life it can impair the future of these young people. The findings of this study shall be carefully interpreted concerning its generality, considering the type of the study being a cross-sectional screening study on a population of young adults.

A selective automatic repeat request protocol for undersea acoustic links

Kalscheuer, Jon M. 06 1900 (has links)
Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited / A recent improvement to the Seaweb underwater wireless network was the implementation of a Selective Automatic Repeat Request (SRQ) mechanism. SRQ is a protocol implemented in the Seaweb link layer as a measure for mitigating unreliability inherent in the telesonar physical layer. In January 2004, an experiment was performed in St. Andrew's Bay, Panama City, Florida. The goal was to transmit large data files through the network, in accordance with a Naval Special Warfare need for imagery file telemetry. For three point-to-point test geometries, SRQ was tested with a noisy and variable physical layer. Through the incorporation of SRQ, the unreliability was overcome. A link-budget model calibrated with the sound channel data collected from the experiment establishes the benefit of a "SRQ gain." / Ensign, United States Navy

The validation of an instrument has the purpose of verifying whether the mensuration carried out consistently measures what the instrument intends to measure.Nevertheless, to be regarded as a valid one, an instrument must also be reliable, which means that its reliability is required, yet it is not enough for its validity status. This current study of validation has been aimed for assessing the fulfillment of two questionnaires: the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), and the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20), which were used in the evaluation of labor psychosocial aspects and in the workers mental health respectively. The accomplished research has involved five studies which differed in selected occupations. The analysis was done in two stages; in the first, the evaluation of the SRQ-20 was carried out by examining the ROC curve, factor analysis of tetracoric correlations, multiple correspondence analysis, the internal consistency was evaluated by the formula of Kuder-Richardson (KD-20); in the second stage, the JCQ performance was assessed, in which it has been used statistical procedures such as factor analysis with the extraction method of main components and VARIMAX rotation and calculus of Cronbach s Alpha. The results showed satisfactory indicators of performance for both appraised instruments. The SRQ-20 evaluation revealed the extraction of four factors confirmed by the graphic of the analysis of multiple correspondences, the instrument showed reasonable internal consistency among the scales, the questionnaire performance was satisfactory since it identified symptoms and correctly classified subjects about the suspicion of usual mental disturbs. In general, the JCQ revealed adequacy of its scales to the theoretical model proposed by Karasek, acceptable internal consistency among scales. The good performance of the instruments evaluated in this study showed that these instruments satisfactorily assess what it is intended to be measured and can contribute towards building of indicators of occupational health and efficient policies for the working class. / Scanear

Does Directive (EU) 2022/2426 foster sustainability reporting quality? : A quantitative study on the compliance with, and quality of, the cross-cutting and topical standards derived from Directive (EU) 2022/2464

Enander, Tobias, Flygare, Hampus January 2023 (has links)
Background: On the 21st of April 2021, the EU Commission declared the adoption of Directive (EU) 2022/2464. This directive will significantly increase reporting requirements for companies within its scope. To this date, these sustainability standards are the most comprehensive yet and they aim to foster sustainability reporting quality. However, the concept of quality is multidimensional and empirical evidence related to SRQ and mandatory reporting standards are ambiguous. However, this new directive has not yet been researched thoroughly. Considering it will disrupt the way companies conduct their sustainability reporting, it would foster a research contribution to explore the effects the directive will have on SRQ.  Purpose: This thesis seeks to measure the compliance with, and quality of, the cross- cutting and topical standards derived from Directive (EU) 2022/2464 in large Swedish companies.  Method: The applied research method is quantitative with a deductive approach, where a hypothesis was generated based on existing literature on sustainability reporting quality. Data was collected from annual and sustainability reports of 45 companies. To measure CSRD compliance and the quality index, content analysis has been used. This facilitates transposition of qualitative information to quantitative data. The data was analysed using the statistical program SPSS.  Results: The results from the study show a significant positive relationship between compliance with CSRD and all the dependent variables of measuring the quality of sustainability reporting. Furthermore, the study shows that the average degree of compliance with CSRD requirements is currently 34% in the population, where the highest achieved score was 58% and the lowest achieved score was 7%.
