Utveckling av testsystem för Interface Test Adapter till Gripen ATE

Bäckman, Tobias, Ehmke, Gustav January 2016 (has links)
The work has been carried out as a product development project at Saab AB in Arboga, focusing on construction. Saab in Arboga develops test systems for JAS 39 Gripen, whose purpose is to verify all the contacts. This is done by using the test system, ATE. Before testing can begin, the wiring harness in the ITA must be verified. Currently this is done manually, and due to wiring extent, the risks of incorrect measurements are apparent. In addition to incorrect measuring, the extent of the wiring can also lead to incorrect wiring in production. These errors can result in the test system fails, which means great financial loss for the company. The project's aim was to develop an automated measurement process and produce a prototype, in order to verify that the ITA is correctly connected before the simulation is done. The main issue for the project has been if an automated measurement process can obtain sufficient precision to replace manual measurement. By analyzing the market for automated movement, a number of concepts for the overall measurement process were generated. The concepts were evaluated with decision-matrix method, as well with regard to the complexity of the required software management for each concept. The measurement process that was chosen based on the 3D printer and its underlying mechanics and automation. To realize the concept to a fully working prototype the process of product development was broken down in segments. This reduced the level of complexity, while it contributed to simplify optimization. In order to achieve optimum design every segment consisted of concept generation and concept evaluation. The construction which is the basis for the prototype is an off-the-shelf solution, and based on the parts used in the milling machine x-Carve. The overall structure is based on the milling machine, however modified to the extent that the purpose can be achieved. The choice to base the design on the X-Carve was made against the background that it harmonized well with the overall concept of measuring process, but also well with the concepts generated in the broken down segments, mentioned above. The underlying factor to the use of components which is an off-the-shelf solution to the design is a result of the project vastness and the provided time. The developed prototype lives up to the requirements. Empirical tests indicate that the prototype obtains sufficient precision to perform measurements. The results of the tests carried out shows that manual labor can be replaced, and therefore leads to the conclusion that the prototype proved useful. The prototype has some potential for development, why it is recommended to examine each segment if additional optimizations must be made.

Implementation of a vision based robot system for SAAB Automobile

Börnstedt, Mattias January 2006 (has links)

This thesis work was done together with SAAB Automobile (Saab) and has investigated how to implement vision based robot systems into Saab's body shop part of the factory (where the car body is mounted together). Vision based robot systems are common in the automotive industry, but not so much in the body shop part of the factory. This thesis work was a continuation of a project where the basics about a camera, Cognex In-Sight 5100, were learned. This camera is a so called smart camera, which means that it can work alone without a computer controlling it. This because it has a small processor built in to the system. The thesis work was solved by looking at an area of an object and compare differences in this area when moving the object. With these differences the accuracy of the camera could be known. The optics, lighting and calibrations were also investigated to learn how to use them best. The work was also to be a part in a team that investigated how to best implement vision based robot systems into Saab's body shop factory. It was members from Saab's factory, professional vision companies and a company that was professionals in the making of jigs and other mechanical inventions. The results from the tests that were made showed that it was important to calibrate the camera right. For example one test was to see how accurate the camera was to guide a gripper to the middle of a beam when having the field of view at the side of the beam. The tests showed that the camera showed wrong in both translation and angle. If both errors were superposed calculated together big errors could occur. The results also showed that this camera system is not advanced enough to handle all different situations that need to be solved in the body shop factory. For example the camera can not take two pictures and then compare them. These functions can be programmed in a PC based vision system where the programmer can program whatever he wants. It is no limitations. The camera that was investigated is best used when it is not too complex solutions. For example it can guide the robot where the accuracy does not need to be very exact.

Seat heating smart algorithm

Jannesson, Johan January 2006 (has links)

The goal of this project was to build a model and a controller for the seat heater and steering wheel heater on the SAAB cars. SAAB manufactures two different car models 9-3 and 9-5. The goal is to control the seat heater in both car models without any temperature sensor in the seat, this due to cost reduction. Several tests have been carried out booth in climate chambers and during road tests. These tests have in the end lead to a mathematical model for the temperature dependence and this model has been used to design an open loop controller for the seat heater.
