Implementation of a vision based robot system for SAAB Automobile

Börnstedt, Mattias January 2006 (has links)
This thesis work was done together with SAAB Automobile (Saab) and has investigated how to implement vision based robot systems into Saab's body shop part of the factory (where the car body is mounted together). Vision based robot systems are common in the automotive industry, but not so much in the body shop part of the factory. This thesis work was a continuation of a project where the basics about a camera, Cognex In-Sight 5100, were learned. This camera is a so called smart camera, which means that it can work alone without a computer controlling it. This because it has a small processor built in to the system. The thesis work was solved by looking at an area of an object and compare differences in this area when moving the object. With these differences the accuracy of the camera could be known. The optics, lighting and calibrations were also investigated to learn how to use them best. The work was also to be a part in a team that investigated how to best implement vision based robot systems into Saab's body shop factory. It was members from Saab's factory, professional vision companies and a company that was professionals in the making of jigs and other mechanical inventions. The results from the tests that were made showed that it was important to calibrate the camera right. For example one test was to see how accurate the camera was to guide a gripper to the middle of a beam when having the field of view at the side of the beam. The tests showed that the camera showed wrong in both translation and angle. If both errors were superposed calculated together big errors could occur. The results also showed that this camera system is not advanced enough to handle all different situations that need to be solved in the body shop factory. For example the camera can not take two pictures and then compare them. These functions can be programmed in a PC based vision system where the programmer can program whatever he wants. It is no limitations. The camera that was investigated is best used when it is not too complex solutions. For example it can guide the robot where the accuracy does not need to be very exact.

Methods for calibration of the vibration measurement system EVME used on the JAS 39 Gripen engine.

Backlund, Ludvig, Martin, Anna, Svantesson, Gustaf January 2014 (has links)
This project investigates methods for calibrating and functional testing an Engine Vibration Measurement Equipment. The equipment uses accelerometers to measure vibrations on the JAS 39 Gripen aircraft engine to ensure that the engine is correctly installed. A model for emulating the electronic signals generated by the accelerometers was created in Simulink and different ways for utilizing the model as a part of a complete test system were examined. Upon examination of different calibration methods it was found that a complete test system needs to have the ability to both send electrical signals directly into the EVME as well as a way of testing the accelerometers mechanically. Both short- and long-term solutions fulfilling these requirements were prepared.

Mediebilden av Saabs kris och konkurs

Forsell, Robert January 2014 (has links)

Spänningsfall i 200 V 400 Hz system / Voltage drop in 200 V 400 Hz systems

Larsson, Niclas January 2015 (has links)
The goal with this bachelor thesis has been to present theoretical material and a calculation model. This is to be used to explain how cable type, cable length, cable area affects the voltage drop in a 400 Hz power system. Measurements have been made on two different cables that are being used in the current system. One of the cables was built symmetrically built with 7-conduktors, where each phase consisted of two conductors shifted 180° from each other around the neutral conductor. To establish the system voltage 115/200 V 400 Hz, a 90 kVA frequency converter was used. The load that was used under the measurements was a resistive, inductive and a capacitive load-equipment. With the resistive load active power is adjusted to obtain the proper power factor for different measurements. This was not an option with the inductive or the capacitive load-equipment since they could not be regulated with a rheostat as the resistive load. The calculation model was compared with the measured results of the voltage drop. It was proven that it approximated the voltage drop good enough to be used in Saabs future work. Furthermore, suggestions are made of how to minimize the distortions that are developed by complex loads, to clear the demands on power quality presented by the standards MIL-STD-704E and ISO 6858-1982 (E).

Omplacering av MDU

Wendelin, Emma, Hallberg, Emil January 2016 (has links)
This report aims to describe the work of a bachelor thesis with a major in product development at Saab. The bachelor thesis is to improve one of Saabs existing products called MIT, short for “Moving Infantry Target”. MIT is used all around the world in harsh environment with high standards. MIT consists of one of Saabs other product SIT, short for “Stationary Infantry Target”, mounted on a trolley. SIT is a standard product of Saab but has to be modified before being mounted on MIT. The modification consists of the MDU, short for “Motor driving Unit”, and is a circuit board for controlling the electric engines located on the MIT trolley. The thesis aims to relocate the MDU from inside the SIT to the MIT trolley and still fulfill the requirements of the MIT. One important requirement is that all products need to have IP classification 67. IP classification is a standard measurement on how water and dust proof a product is. To fulfill the requirements a protective box for MDU was developed. During the process there was some question in focus. Where should the box be located? Which manufacturing and materials should be used? How should the cable go inside the box and at the same time have IP classification 67? This was the basis for the work when developing the concepts. Two concepts were created in total. The first concept is about the location and how to attach MDU with the protective box. Next step concept is about how the lid will be attached and the cable lead-through. A 3D model was created using the winning concepts and from that 3D model a prototype was created. The prototype was manufactured with a 3D printer.
