Evoluzione tematica e strutturale nel Canzoniere di Umberto Saba

Ciampi, Orlando January 1976 (has links)
The thesis deals with some aspects of the Canzoniere , the major poetic work of Umberto Saba, who made his appearance on the Italian literary scene during the first decade of this century. The introduction and the first chapter are intended to provide summary background material on the literary-cultural situation in Trieste at the turn of the century within which Saba had necessarily to develop and work. Particular emphasis is placed on the fact that the city of Trieste, where the poet was born and lived most of his life, was culturally behind the times. This fact, together with Saba's own late cultural "awakening", contributed to the creation of a "peripheral" and "backward" style of poetry characterized by a touch of authentic realism which distinguishes and isolates him from his contemporaries, who were for the most part engaged in the attempts at poetic innovation. Another major characteristic of Saba's poetry derives from his acquaintance with Freud; in fact, the poet's interest in psychoanalysis constitutes the subject of the second chapter. Here the role which psychoanalysis plays in his poetry is defined by differentiating between "clinical" and "poetic" psychoanalysis, with reference to the poems written during the period in which he was undergoing psychoanalysis (1929-31) and to the writings in which Saba finally explicitly rejects psychoanalysis as an authentic source of poetic themes. The third chapter consists of a thematic and stylistic analysis of the poetry of the Canzoniere. with special emphasis on the early collections of Saba's work. The themes of these youthful poems are structurally related to those of the more recent works, where the poet, through a new sense of immediacy, transforms the motifs which dominated his adolescence, and in which a greater psychological clarity is accompanied by just as great a clarity of form. / Arts, Faculty of / French, Hispanic, and Italian Studies, Department of / Graduate

Trieste e a poética da vida: proposta de tradução de poemas de Umberto Saba / Trieste and the poetics of life: proposition of translation of Umberto Saba\'s poems

Dheisson Ribeiro Figueredo 16 March 2017 (has links)
This research arose out of the will of spreading the presence of Umberto Sabas poetry in Brazil. We decided, thus, to select and translate some of his poems, using as a choice criterion the study of the poetical work of the italian poet out of the most frequent approach: the relation between his poetic persona and the city of Trieste. We have chosen this framing because we believe it enables a more embracing view of the work of the writer, since, from that relation, we can study many other important questions that may guide us to the comprehension of his poetry, specially those questions engendered in what we name here poetic of the life. With the expression poetic of the life, we seek to make a trend in Sabas poetry more evident: the openness to what he calls calda vita (warm life), the life realized in all its variety, including those moments of suffer and pain. In such path, we study the relation subject/city having as a north the interrelationship between the inner subject and the world matter, and from then, we establish a comparison among some features of Sabas and Baudelaires poetry, but also Pascolis, Leopardis and the Crepusculares. We also talk about the theme of the visual sense, of the desire, drives and memory, which are intertwined in the relation self/city. We talk, moreover, about the main formal aspects that characterize the poetry of the Italian, as, among others, the narrativity and the prosaicism, which are connected to what the critics call Sabas realism (the representation of scenes, facts and daily characters.)

Carboniferous stratigraphy of the Hall area, San Saba County, Texas

Rose, Peter R. 10 August 2011 (has links)
Detailed mapping of Carboniferous rocks westward from areas mapped by Bogardus and Oden shows that rock units within the Marble Falls formation are traceable across "Cavern Ridge" a "barrier" invented by Plummer and referred to by others. The Ives breccia, Chappel limestone, Barnett formation, and Lower member of the Marble Falls formation formed as a transgressive depositional sequence. A thin zone of bypassing separates the Barnett and Marble Falls, but a hiatus between them in the Hall area cannot be demonstrated. A small-scale disconformity exists between the Lower and Middle members of the Marble Falls. Local faulting during deposition of the Marble Falls produced the Gibbons conglomerate, influenced the accumulation of Middle Marble Falls shale, and elevated the "Hall Uplift." Some lithosomes in the Upper member of the Marble Falls pinch out near the "Hall Uplift." Sandstone and mudstone of the Strawn formation abut against the carbonate mass of the Marble Falls to the north, but whether a period of erosion intervened between the deposition of the two is not known. Analysis of seven species of corals, twenty-three of brachiopods, two of pelecypods, five of gastropods, two of cephalopods, two of trilobites, and fourteen of conodonts suggests that the Chappel, Barnett, and Marble Falls faunal assemblages most closely resemble those of the Chouteau formation, Caney formation, and Morrow group respectively. In the Hall area no part of the Marble Falls should be correlated with the Atoka series. / text

Téma dospívání v moderní italské literatuře / Puberty Theme in the Modern Italian Literature

Grünzweigová, Tereza January 2017 (has links)
The following thesis addresses the theme of puberty through three Italian novels: Agostino by Alberto Moravia, Ernesto by Umberto Saba, and Dietro la porta by Giorgio Bassani. The introduction outlines the history of the children's and adolescents' protagonism in literature since the beginning. One chapter is dedicated to each author, his biographic data and generic work. The analyzed novels are then formally presented whose contents reveal a prevalence of the puberty theme. The authors' life journeys and unique youthful traumas are clearly projected in each novel. We can find the reflection of complicated family relationships, first sexual experiences, and initial problems of adult life in the stories of the young protagonists. Finally, the difference between the characters and their authors is shown with a brief comparison.
