Study of the combined roles of the Silica/Oil/UHMWPE formulation and process parameters on morphological and electrical properties of battery Separators / Élaboration du séparateur dans les batteries au plomb : aspects fondamentaux de formulation et de mise en oeuvreToquet, Fabien 17 February 2017 (has links)
This work is devoted to understand the effect of the formulation and more specifically of the precipitated silica on the resistivity of the PE-separators. The PE-separators are designed for the lead-acid batteries. PE-separators are composed of precipitated silica, ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) and organic oil. The first part of this work was to elaborate PE-separator models at a laboratory scale. Then, the factors impacting the structural and physico-chemicals properties of PE-separators were investigated. These factors are mainly the amounts of oil, precipitated silica, the grade of the precipitated silica, the temperature conditions of crystallization and the device used to elaborate the membrane. The influence of the amounts of oil and precipitated silica on the crystallization of the polyethylene wasthoroughly described showing that the oil helps to increase the final crystallinity of UHMWPE and that the silica plays a role of oil reservoir. Moreover, it was shown that the amount and the grade of precipitated silica have an influence on the wettable part of the porosity of the PE-separators. The coating of the pores by the precipitated silica is responsible of the wettability of the membranes by the electrolyte. Thus, an empirical parameter has been proposed in order to quantify the efficiency of the dispersion and distribution of the precipitated silica in the membrane. The more the membranes are wettable by the electrolyte the more the resistivity of the membranes is decreased. To finish, for a same amount of components and a same method of processing, it is possible to discriminate the efficiency of each grade of precipitated silica for the battery separator application

Concepção e estudo de uma unidade compacta para tratamento preliminar de esgoto sanitário composta por separador hidrodinâmico por vórtice e grade fina de fluxo tangencial / Designing and study of a compact unit for sewage preliminary treatment made up of a hydrodynamic vortex separator and a tangential flux fine screenPrado, Gustavo Silva do 15 September 2006 (has links)
Currently, there is a trend among the brazilian designers of valorizing the preliminary treatment in recently designed wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). In this context, a full scale prototype of a unit made up of a hydrodynamic vortex separator (HVS) applied as a degritter and a tangential flux fine screening was designed, built and evaluated. Research about the hydrodynamic of the prototype, based on stimulus-response essays with a salt tracer (sodium chloride) and computational simulations of the flow pattern using the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software, showed that the macro mixture regime of the flow was similar to a plug-flow when the unit was operated with superficial loading rates (SLR) of 746 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd; 1.146 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd and 1.528 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd, however, the flow presented a certain mixture degree that reduced with the SLR increase. In this research, two methods were developed: one for the determination of grit concentration in sewage and another one for the assessment of grit grading. Both methods were used on the evaluation of the HVS prototype efficiency, which was carried out at Jardim das Flores WWT, in the city of Rio Claro, SP. During this phase of the research, the HVS presented a great potential for grit removal when the SLR of 746 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd; 1.146 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd and 1.528 'M POT.3'/'M POT.2'd were applied; for the reason that, besides not significantly removing the particulate organic matter present in sewage (measured as volatile suspended solids), the unit achieved grit removal efficiencies in the range of 85% to 95% for grit equal to or large than 200 'mü'm. However, the tangential flux cylindrical fine screening (self cleaning) did not reveal feasibility.

[en] PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION METHODOLOGY OF MULTIPHASE FLOW METERS IN ALLOCATION MEASUREMENT IN THE OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY / [pt] METODOLOGIA DE VERIFICAÇÃO DE DESEMPENHO DE MEDIDORES DE VAZÃO DE FLUIDO MULTIFÁSICO NA MEDIÇÃO PARA APROPRIAÇÃO NA INDÚSTRIA DE ÓLEO E GÁS NATURALLUIZ OCTAVIO VIEIRA PEREIRA 20 February 2019 (has links)
[en] The multiphase flowrate (MM) was driven by the necessity of the oil and gas industry to measure the production flow of the wells that are commonly composed of oil, gas and water. In October 2015, the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) published the Technical Regulation for Measurement of Multiphase Fluid for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Water produced, which presents
the requirements through plans that oil and gas companies need to prepare and submit for authorization to apply the MM in the measurement for allocation. However, this regulation does not specify the methodology that should be used in the so-called performance verification plan to evaluate the performance of the MM in the field, it being incumbent on each operator to develop its methodology for this
purpose and present the ANP. This work proposes and applies a methodology for performance verification for MM with test results performed in the laboratory with real fluids and in oil and gas field. It was observed that short duration tests, below 1000 seconds, tend to generate higher uncertainties than long tests, higher than 1000 seconds, such as those performed on the platform. Thus, the higher measurement uncertainty results generated in the laboratory with short integration times can be considered more conservative than the results of the tests performed in the platform.

Modelagem dinâmica de separador bifásico com alimentação por escoamento em regime de golfadas / Dynamic modeling of two-phase separator with feeding for draining in regimen of slugRosilene Abreu Portella 07 August 2008 (has links)
Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.
The present work addresses the behavior of a primary processing plant subjected to slug flow pattern at its entrance. The flow in a pipeline system is described by a simplified concentrated
parameter model, which preserves the main physical features that are important to control the plant. The dynamic response of the plant is then analyzed. Using a standard control strategy for
the gas liquid separator, it is seen that the flow oscillations are transmitted to the liquid and gas outlets. In order to obtain a more stable outlet flow, the liquid level in the separator is then
allowed to fluctuate within a given range, by reducing the effect of the controller constants, and establishing an additional control directly on the inlet entrance valve.
