Julián Gómez, Esther 10 May 2002 (has links)
The tuberculosis (TB) kills between 2 and 3 milions of persons in the world, in spite of being a curable disease. One the reasons for this high disease incidence in the lack of a rapid, economic and specific diagnostic method that could be used in any laboratory of the world. Serology could be and alternative or complementary tool to the current methods. In the present thesis we have evaluated the serodiagnostical ability of four purified glycolipids fromt the Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell wall (Diacyltrehaloses, Triacyltrehaloses, Cord Factor and Sulpholipid-I), These results have been compared with tose obtained using 9 commercially available kits that use other types of antigens for the serodiagnosis of TB.
