Commissioning new applications on processing machines: Part II – implementation

The subject of this splitted article is the commissioning of a new application that may be part of a processing machine. At the example of the intermittent transport of small sized goods, for example, chocolate bars, ideas for increasing the maximum machine performance are discussed. Therefore, optimal process motion profiles are synthesised with the help of a computer simulation. In the first part of the paper, the modelling of the process was shown. This second part focusses on implementing the simulated motion approaches on an experimental test rig, whereby the new motion approach is compared to the conventional approach. Hence, the increasing of the performance can be proven. Eventually, possibilities for an online process control are observed which are necessary to prevent unstable process conditions.

The aim of this diploma thesis is detail description of theory, design process and final realization of single-purpose machine for pressing canister funnels. Theoretical section of this work covers manufacturing standards of the electrical cabinets, options for the single-purpose machine control with focus on the programmable logic controller e.g. PLC, PLC control program concept with definition of the main alarm states and description of two types of electrical cabinet. Practical part contains description of the electrical cabinet, its block diagram, photo documentation of the wiring (chapter 4.), chosen PLC type, its advantages and detail program description using Ladder diagram notation, communication with operator realized with touch LCD panel, programming environment for this LCD panel and program realization process. Finalized machine description and its photo documentation in manufacturing process is covered in the end. This diploma thesis is based and extends previously successfully defended semester project.

This thesis describes the design of universal control unit for BLDC motor powered from airplane power distribution system of 28 V capable of driving motor up to 10 A. The maximal engine power is about 250 W. Important prerequisite is possibility of driving various motor size without needs of changing wiring board using only the configuration in the auxiliary memory unit. To control different motors is enough one unit with one program without any way to interfere to the unit itself.

This master‘s thesis deals with design and realisation of a control module for automated measurements of the modern contactless inductive position sensors by a mechanical rotational system consisting of a DC motor and an incremental quadrature encoder. The thesis presents methods of driving DC motor and recording of measured data by a microcontroller. The thesis presents a communication protocol between the control module and personal computer via USB interface. A part of this thesis is also to develop a control software and firmware, including the measurement and evaluation of properties of the control module.

In this thesis is described a laboratory process of example of traction control with frequency converter SINAMICS S120. The focus of this thesis is divided into three parts. Modification of the traction to translational motion for transport of the open vessel with liquid. Proposal of the autonomous operation of the traction without connection to other devices such as a personal computer or PLC, including wiring diagram. The simulation of a dynamic movement for transport of the vessel with liquid in the simulation environment MATLAB and implementation using the proposed laboratory traction. Commissioning and activation of each control functions is described step by step.

This Master's Thesis is focused on the design and control of a small-series production line, for the production of segmetal arches and plastic reductions. It is about the conversion from a semi-automatic line to a fully automatic line. The production line consists of an extruder, a cutting unit, a exhaust unit, three pressing machines and a manipulator. Every single machine has a custom control for which was selected a baseplate with microcontroler ATmega 128 and designed powerful part of inputs and outputs. There is a simple communication between the machines. Appropriate elements were used for conversion of every individual part of the production line. The whole system is programmed with software called AVR Studio4.
