Influência de adesivos autocondicionantes na resistência adesiva de cimentos de ionômero de vidro resinomodificados à dentina / Influence of self-etch adhesive on bond strength of resin-modified glass ionomer to dentinGiovanna Emann Tavares Menegatti 12 May 2016 (has links)
This research aims to evaluate the influence of five dentin pretreatments on microshear bond strength of four resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI). The experiment was performed in vitro, using 200 bovine incisors. From these, there were obtained 200 dentine fragments that were randomly distributed into 20 groups (n = 10) according to the variation factors comprising five dentin treatment (control group, i.e., no treatment; Polyacrylic Acid 20%; Clearfil SE Bond; Single Bond Universal and Vitremer Primer) and four glass ionomer cements (GC Fuji II LC® CAPSULE; GC Fuji LC LINING® (Paste Pak); Vitrebond® and Vitremer). After preparation of the samples and 24h storage at 37 °C, was performed microshear test in a universal testing machine (Instron 5942 - Canton, MA, USA) with speed of 1mm/min, followed by analysis of the pattern fractures in digital microscope. Statistical analysis of the 400 results was performed by ANOVA nonparametric test for two variation factors (cement and treatment) (p <0.05%) and the post-hoc Tukey (p <0.05%). The tests demonstrated there are statistical difference between treatments, cements and between the interaction of both (p <0.0001). The Clearfil SE (X?=18,26 ± 2,78) and SingleBond (X?=17,28 ± 2,49) promoted the highest bond strength values compared to the other treatments, but showing no statistical difference between them, which represented an increase in bond strength of 121% for Clearfil SE and 109.2% for Single Bond Universal compared to control group. The Polyacrylic Acid (X?=9,94 ± 3,55) has reached intermediate values, corresponding to a 20% increase in adhesive strength compared to control group. This treatment differed significantly from the higher values, but showed no difference compared to Primer Vitremer (X?=8,91 ± 2,97). The control group (X?=8,26 ± 4,17) showed the lowest values, statistically differing from the adhesives and polyacrylic acid, but with results that matched to the treatment with Vitremer Primer. When analyzing the interaction between cement and treatment, all cements tested in this study had higher results when one of the adhesive systems was used as dentin treatment, regardless of which adhesive system. Based on these results, it could be concluded that the two adhesive systems were able to significantly improve the adhesive strength of RMGIs.

Efeito de um agente primer e de ciclos térmicos para cocção de porcelana na resistência de união adesiva entre alumina e cimento resinoso / Effect of a primer agent and thermal cycles for porcelain firing on the bond strength of resin cement to alumina.Renato Savi de Carvalho 11 September 2009 (has links)
High-strength alumina based ceramic crowns are widely used in dentistry due to their favorable esthetic, however, the large amount of crystalline contents jeopardizes their acid etching property and the ideal luting remains unclear. Procera AllCeram restorations exhibits on their intaglio surface micro irregularities optimizing the bonding to resin, with no need for additional conditioning procedures. Purpose: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the influence of high thermal cycles (500ºC to 950ºC) needed to porcelain firing on alumina´s intaglio surface, as well as, the role of a primer agent (Ivoclar Vivadent) on shear bond strength between alumina and resin cement. Material and Methods: Sixty alumina cylinders (3,5mm X 16mm) with intaglio roughness of the Procera AllCeram copings were randomly divided into four groups (n=15). Group 1) Samples no submitted to thermal cycles variation, were G1a - no primer application and G1b - primer treated and Group 2: Samples submitted to thermal feldspathic porcelain firing cycles, were G2a - specimens no primer treated and G2b - primer treated specimens. Over the cylinders top a self-cure resin cement (Multilink Ivoclar) portion was applied. The specimens were loaded to failure in shear mode using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 0,5mm/min. Data were analyzed with one-way analysis of variance and Tukey´s multiple comparison test. Results: The shear bond strength for each group was: G1a = 2.468 MPa; G1b = 4.265 MPa; G2a = 2.339 MPa e G2b = 4.185 MPa. Significant difference was found between the groups G1a X G1b; G1a X G2b; G1b X G2a e G2a X G2b. Conclusions: Thermal cycles did not change alumina´s surface micro structure, besides did not compromised it´s bonding strength to resin cement. Primer agent enhanced shear bond strength between alumina and resin cement. Luting agent´s cohesive fractures were observed only in some primer treated specimens.

Resistência de união de um cimento resinoso a diferentes superfícies de alumina densamente sinterizada / Shear bond strenght of a resin cement to different surfaces of densely sintered aluminaJuan Rommel Medina Valdivia 20 June 2007 (has links)
The aim of this study was to investigate the shear bond strength between a resin cement and densely sintered alumina treated by the fabricant. The resin cement used was the Multilink (Ivoclar Vivadent) and the alumina the Procera®Alumina (Nobel Biocare) made with 99,9% of densely sintered aluminum oxide. Thirty two alumina cylinders were made by Nobel Biocare, and in one of the extremes was applied a own`s fabricant surface treatment. For the application of the cement, a Teflon matrix with a central hole (diameter of 3,5 mm and a height of 3,0 mm) was used. Four groups were created: Group 1 surface without treatment; Group 2 - surface without treatment and with adhesive; Group 3 surface with the own`s fabricant treatment; Group 4 - surface with the own`s fabricant treatment with adhesive. After the cement application, the specimens were stored in water at 37º C for 24 hours. Then the samples were placed in a universal testing machine for making the shear strength test. Statistical analysis was performed with two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and paired comparisons between groups were done with Tukey`s multiple comparison. Higher significant values were detected for Group 3 when compared with all the other groups. The adhesive decreased the shear bond strength when laid on the treated surface, and there were no difference when laid on the untreated surface.

Previous issue date: 2008-01-07 / The aim of this study is to estimate the thermal compatibility of ceramics, contributing to fill in for an important gap in the standard for all-ceramic systems. The objectives of this study are: 1) to determine the shear bond strength (σc) of core-veneer ceramic systems and to evaluate the mode of failure; 2) to estimate the wetting behavior of veneer on core ceramics, using the contact angle measurement (θ); 3) to correlate the values for σc, θ, and CTE of the ceramics. Glass-infiltrated alumina (IA - In-Ceram Alumina) and zirconia (IZ - In-Ceram Zirconia) core ceramics, and Vita VM7, VM9 and VM13 veneer ceramics were combined into 6 groups. The baseline surface roughness (Ra) of core ceramic disk specimens (12 mm X 1,2 mm) was measured A cylinder of veneer ceramic (2 mm X 2 mm) was applied at the center of the core ceramic specimens, sintered and tested for σc to failure in a universal testing machine with a crosshead speed of 0,5 mm/min. For the θ evaluation, a cylinder of veneer ceramic (1 mm height x 2 mm diameter) was applied on core ceramic.Specimens images were taken before and after the firing procedure and the θ was measured using the AutoCAD 2006 program. The mean values of σc (MPa) and θ (º) for the compatible ceramic groups (A7 and Z7) were: 19,4 A e 48,9 c; 23,5 A e 56,0 b; for the groups with poor compatibility (A9 and V9) were: 0,9 C e 54,9 bc; 9,5 B e 59,8 b; and for the incompatible ceramic groups (A13 and Z13) were 0 D e 70 a; 0 D e 67,1 a. Different letters means statistical differences between groups (p≤0,001). Correlation analyses showed that as the difference between the ceramics CTE increases, the θ increases and the σc decreases / Esse estudo tem a finalidade de estimar o grau de compatibilidade térmica das cerâmicas, contribuindo para supressão de uma lacuna importante nas normas de avaliação de sistemas cerâmicos. Characterisation and performance of fibre-reinforced composite restorationsAl-Haddad, Ala'A. January 2015 (has links)
In the modern era of metal-free minimally-invasive dentistry, there is a growing tendency toward using metal-free restorative alternatives that provide not only excellent aesthetics but also enable superior durability. Fibre-reinforced composite (FRC) is one cost-effective alternative that fulfils the requirements of aesthetics and durability, and offers favourable physico-mechanical properties. Many FRC applications are well-documented in the literature, such as crowns and fixed partial dentures (FPD); however, their clinical implementation is still limited, owing to the lack of significant knowledge about their longevity, deterioration signs, optimum design and overall performance. This in-vitro research aimed to address these uncertainties by investigating the performance of FRC restorations, and the influence of fibre reinforcement on particular physcio-mechanical properties, including surface hardness, edge-strength, shear bond strength, fatigue and wear resistance. Basic testing models were used to investigate the effect of incorporating differently-oriented FRCs on the surface hardness, edge-strength and shear bond strength of particulate-reinforced composite (PRC). The results revealed that the incorporation of FRC significantly enhanced surface hardness (by 12 - 19 %) and edge-strength (by 27 -75 %). However, this incorporation significantly reduced the shear bond strength (SBS) between PRC and other restorative materials, including lithium disilicate ceramic (10.9±3.1 MPa) and Co-Cr metal alloy (12.8±2.3 MPa), compared to the control (15.2±3.6 MPa, 15.0±3.7 MPa). The orientation of FRC was also found to affect the efficiency of reinforcement as bidirectional FRCs exhibited significantly higher hardness (76.8±1.2 VHN), edge-strength (67.7±8.2 N) and SBS (14.1±3.9 MPa) values than unidirectional FRCs (72.4±1.2 VHN, 56.8±5.9 N, 9.8±2.3 MPa).Clinically-relevant testing models, employing accelerated aging techniques, were performed to investigate the fatigue and wear behaviours of anatomically-shaped FRC restorations in-vitro. Direct inlay-retained FRC-FPDs with two framework designs, were tested for their fatigue behaviour and load-bearing capacity. Type-I design (with an additional bidirectional FRC layer incorporated perpendicular to the loading direction) yielded significantly higher fatigue resistance (1144.0±270.9 N) and load-bearing capacity (1598.6±361.8) than Type-II design (with a woven FRC embedded around the pontic core) (716.6±72.1 N, 1125.8±278.2 N, respectively). However, Type-19II design exhibited fewer delamination failures. Both framework design and dynamic fatigue were found to have a significant influence (p < 0.05) on the load-bearing capacity of FRC-FPDs. Additionally, the in-vitro fatigue and wear behaviours of FRC crowns, fabricated conventionally from bidirectional FRC and indirect PRC (Sinfony), were compared with those made of two CAD/CAM alternatives, namely Lava Zirconia (LZ) and Lava Ultimate (LU). A chewing simulator was employed to induce some fatigue wear in crowns, while an intraoral 3D scanner was used to quantify the resultant morphological changes. The results showed that FRC crowns had significantly lower mean cumulative wear (233.9±100.4 μm) than LU crowns (348.2±52.0 μm), but higher than LZ crowns (16.4±1.5 μm). The mean load bearing-capacity after fatigue simulation was also the highest for LZ crowns (1997.8±260.2 N) compared with FRC (1386.5±258.4 N) and LU crowns (756.5±290.9 N).Accordingly, the incorporation of FRC in resin-composite restorations is advocated since it increases surface hardness and marginal integrity, improves fatigue and wear behaviours, and enhances load-bearing capacity and overall performance.

Vliv složení mezivrstvy na pevnost adhezního spoje mezi vláknovým a částicovým kompozitem / Effect of Interlayer Composition on Bond Strength between FRC Framework and Composite VeneerIbarra, Jonatanh José January 2010 (has links)
Vzorky byly rozdělené do pěti hlavních skupin.

Bestämning av skjuvhållfasthet med vridprovning för pågjutna betongkonstruktioner / Determination of shear bond strength through torsion test in repaired concrete structuresPham, Keimann, Olsson, Jesse January 2013 (has links)
Damages and wear on concrete bridges are due to de-icing salt or salt water, reinforcement corrosion and repeated freeze-thaw cycles in combination with increasing traffic loads. The most common repair operation for these types of damages is to remove the deteriorated concrete and replace it with a new concrete overlay. To evaluate how well a bonded concrete overlay is, the bond strength between the new and old concrete has to be determined. The most widely used method for this purpose is the so-called pull off test to determine the tensile bond strength. In practice however the shear bond strength is of greater interest and is therefore approximated on the basis of tensile bond strength, but with a torsion test the shear bond strength can be directly determined. The purpose of this study is to investigate the reliability of the torsion test to determine the shear bond strength in a more direct and accurate manner. The thesis examines the reliability of the torsion test to determine the shear bond strength with the pull off test as a reference. The study includes eight parallel tests of pull off and torsion tests where the lowest measured shear bond strength is compared with the calculated design value of shear bond strength according to EC2. The work is done in connection with the Spårväg city project at Sergels torg, Stockholm, in collaboration with the Traffic Administration Office in Stockholm and CBI, the Swedish Cement and Concrete Research Institute. The results of the tests showed that the failures in the interface between new and old concrete, which are of interest, were more common for pull off tests than torsion tests where only two of the eight test samples showed failure in the interface. The wide scatter of the measured values is a consequence of the low number of failures in the interface. The mean value of the tensile bond strength was 1,43 MPa, which indicates good bond strength. The shear bond strength however made with torsion tests show a mean value of only 1,61 MPa. Lower than the expected value of about twice the tensile bond strength of 2,86 MPa. Interestingly, the lowest measured value of the shear bond strength of 0,83 MPa was unusually low, but still higher than the calculated design value of shear bond strength of 0.59 MPa according to EC2. The study has shown that torsion test is a difficult method for determining the shear strength of the bond between the new and old concrete. The reason for this is mainly due to three factors, the low number of tests, the large scatter of values, and the difficulty to interpret failures of the test samples. Despite this the torsion test seems to be a future method for structural engineers and contractors as a tool to determine shear strength for repaired concrete structures in general and not only the shear bond strength.

A shear bond strength, microleakage and laser microscopic study of two dental compomers.Moodley, Desi January 1999 (has links)
Magister Chirurgiae Dentium (MChD) / Purpose: To evaluate and compare the in-vitro shear bond strength and micro leakage of two compomers with their adhesive systems and to examine the dentine-restorative interface under confocal scanning laser microscopy (CSLM). Matoiats and Methods: For shear bond strength (SBS) testing thirty non-carious human molars were used of which fifteen molars were restored with Dyract AP using Non-Rinse Conditioner (NRC) and Prime&Bond NT (PBNT) and fifteen were restored with F2000 and Scotchbond Multi-Purpose Plus (SBMP). For the microleakage evaluation cavity preparations were made on the facial surfaces of thirty non-carious premolars. These were then restored with the
respective compomer system. The specimens were thermocycled, sectioned and examined for dye penetration. The dentine-restorative interface was examined through a confocal scanning laser microscope. The primers of the bonding agents were labelled with rhodamine B and the adhesive resins were labelled with fluorescein and examined under CSLM in fluorescent mode. Results: The mean SBS for PBNT and SBMP were 12.8 and 18.1 MPa, respectively. The microleakage scores showed Dyract with PBNT leaked on the dentine side in 13 of the 15 specimens examined. On the enamel side 2 of the 15 specimens showed microleakage. With F2000 and SBMP no micro leakage was observed
on either enamel or dentine sides. The CSLM images show clear resin tag and hybrid layer formation for both the materials examined, although SBMP showed deeper penetration into the dentine with longer resin tags. The length of the resin tags and thickness of the hybrid layer for PBNT was found to be approximately 10 um and 2 um respectively. SBMP showed resin tags measuring about 100 um while the hybrid layer measured about 5 um. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that the acid-etch technique ofSBMP with F2000 produces higher bond strength and no micro leakage when compared to the self-etching/self-priming "non-rinse technique" of NRC with PBNT and Dyract.

Influence of surface treatment on veneering porcelain shear bond strength to zirconia after cyclic loadingNishigori, Atsushi January 2013 (has links)
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) / Statement of problem: Yttria-partially stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) all-ceramic restorations have been reported to suffer from chipping or cracking of the veneering porcelain (VP) as the most common complication. There is little information in the literature regarding the influence of surface treatment on VP shear bond strength to Y-TZP after cyclic loading. Purpose of this study: The goals of this study were (1) to investigate the influence of zirconia surface treatments on veneering porcelain shear bond strength and (2) to investigate the influence of cyclic loading on the shear bond strength between VP and Y-TZP. Materials and Methods: 48 cylinder–shaped specimens (6mm in diameter and 4mm in height) were divided into 4 groups containing 12 specimens each according to the surface treatment. As a control group (C), no further treatment was applied to the specimens after grinding. Group H was heat-treated as a pretreatment according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Group S was airborne-particle abraded with 50 µm alumina (Al2O3) particles under a pressure of 0.4 MPa for 10 seconds. In the group SH, the heat-treatment was performed after the airborne-particle abrasion. A VP cylinder (2.4 mm in diameter and 2 mm in height) was applied and fired on the prepared Y-TZP specimens. The shear bond strength was tested using a universal testing machine. Six specimens from each group were subjected to fatigue (10,000cycles, 1.5Hz, 10N load) before testing. Results: The 3-way ANOVA showed no statistically significant effect of surface treatment and cyclic loading on shear bond strength. The highest mean shear bond strength was recorded for the air-particle abrasion group without cyclic loading (34.1 + 10 MPa). The lowest mean shear bond strength was the air-particle abrasion group with cyclic loading (10.7 ± 15.4 MPa). Sidak multiple comparisons procedure demonstrated cyclic loading specimens had significantly lower shear bond strength than non-cyclic loading specimens after air-particle abrasion without heat treatment (p=0.0126) Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, (1) Shear bond strength between Y-TZP and VP is not affected statistically by surface treatment using heat treatment, airborne-particle abrasion, and heat treatment after airborne-particle abrasion. (2) There is significant difference in shear bond strength with air-particle abrasion between with and without cyclic loading groups. This difference suggested that air-particle abrasion should be avoided in clinical situations as a surface treatment without heat treatment.
