Ten years ago plans of starting a new whisky distillery at the Shetland Islands were announced. The plan was to place it at an old military base on the island Unst which is the most northern inhabited island in the United Kingdom. The project never reached beyond the planning stage and was not realized. This thesis project is an investigation in a possible design for a small whisky distillery at the site that was initially planed to be used. The purpose has been to study the conditions for building a new distillery with spaces for visitors. The work is based on an early pre-study that was made together with a busies-plan about ten years ago. The building consists of a production part and a combined visitor and service part with a connecting forecourt. The production volume contains a large flexible space with a few separating walls allowing a linear production. The visitor and service part is slightly higher allowing views of the vast landscape. / För omkring tio år sedan presenterades planer på att starta ett nytt whiskydestilleri på Shetlandsöarna. Planen var att placera det på en gammal nedlagd militärbas på ön Unst vilken är Storbritanniens nordligaste bebodda ö. Projektet kom inte längre än planerings skedet och realiserades aldrig. Det här examensarbetet är en utredning av en möjlig design för ett mindre whisky destilleri på den plats som ursprungligen var planerad att användas. Syftet har varit att se på förutsättningarna för att anlägga ett nytt destilleri med rum för besökare. Arbetet är baserat på en tidig förstudie och företagsplan som togs fram tillsammans med de planer som presenterades för tio år sedan. Byggnaden består av en produktionsdel och en kombinerad besök och service del med en anslutande förgård. Produktionsvolymen består av stora flexibla rum med ett antal separerande väggar vilket tillåter en linjär produktion. Besöks och service delen är något högre vilket ger möjlighet till utsikt över det vidsträckta landskapet.
