Hur tar man tillvara på, och utvecklar, specialistkunskapen i ett IT-företag? / How do you fruitfully gather, and develop, professional knowledge in an IT company?

När IT-bubblan växte så enormt under slutet av 90-talet pumpade investerare in kapital i företagen. Mycket av pengarna gick till enorma löner, speciellt till dem som var riktigt kunniga. När bubblan sedan sprack gick många företag omkull, och de som trots allt klarade sig fick en svidande läxa och blev tvungna att tänka mer långsiktigt. Med den bakgrunden tyckte vi det var intressant att se hur IT-företag gör idag för att behålla kompetens, utan att för den skull betala astronomiska löner. Vi fokuserar därför på de aspekter som i första hand inte är av monetär karaktär, såsom en hög lön, aktier eller optioner. Uppsatsen innehåller en fallstudie av Combitech. Vi har valt att göra två intervjuer, en intervju med en chef och en intervju med en anställd. De grundläggande frågorna handlar om hur man arbetar med att få IT-konsulter att trivas på jobbet och hur man arbetar med att vara ett attraktivt företag på arbetsmarknaden. Combitech var ett mycket bra företag att genomföra studien på. Det beror till stor del på att Combitech har en platt organisation där konsulterna är sina egna chefer, vilket medför en stor frihet och därtill mycket eget ansvar. Kombinationen av att cheferna har en mer stödjande roll och IT-konsulternas fria arbetssätt ger grund till innovation och fritt tänkande, där IT-konsulterna får använda sin kompetens till fullo. Det ger också utbildningsperspektivet ett nytt djup. Studien visar att det finns företag som arbetar mycket målmedvetet med att vara en attraktiv arbetsgivare för arbetssökande, utan att för den skull göra sig känd för att betala enorma löner. Combitech visade sig vara ett gott exempel på ett företag som arbetar aktivt och metodiskt med personalutveckling i den form vi avsåg att studera.

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey is the major academic research management and funding agency in Turkey. As a policy-maker, the council has undertaken very important responsibility in designing a science and technology policy of Turkey. By means of impact analysis, evaluating the ongoing research support programmes is important for designing more effective ones. However, impact of academic research are widely disseminated, journal articles being published and cited, number of academic staff involved in the supported projects, patents, and prototypes could be used as an evaluation instrument for impact analysis. In this study first time, we have figured out the social benefits (in 2008 TL fixed prices) of academic research projects, specifically physics academic research projects that were supported during 1998-2008 by T&Uuml / BiTAK. Return of funds of T&Uuml / BiTAK supported physics projects during 2005-2008 was calculated as 142%, when rate of return was taken 28%.

The stockholm county proposed legislation in 2010 on the use of studded tires in the city. The aim of the policy was to reduce the use of studded tires by 50 percent. The research question investigates the authenticity of the policy where it was hypothesized that the net social benefits for the imposition of this charge was less than or equal to zero. Emperical literatures were chosen systematically and with the help of theories on welfare economics, a meta analysis was employed quantifying cost and benefits of all outcomes. The findings shows that the NSB is less than zero meaning that it was a wise decision to reject the proposal.

The role of online networks in supporting young people's digital inclusion and the implications for Australian government policies

This study examines young people’s internet access and use in nine locations in Queensland, Australia. The primary aim of the research is to assess if internet use supports young people’s social inclusion: that is, if internet use supports young people to participate in society in ways they have most reason to value. The research findings demonstrate that the digital divide in Queensland – the gap between citizens with and without access to ICTs – continues to inhibit young people’s ability to participate online. This divide is embedded within historic, economic, social and cultural inequalities. To address this, this study proposes that a digital inclusion framework, founded on the concept of social inclusion, offers the Australian federal and state governments an opportunity to extend digital divide policies so that they connect with and complement broader social policy goals. The research outcomes also illustrate that creative uses of online networks provide a powerful means through which young people can participate in a networked society. While young people’s access to a range of ICTs impacts on their ability to use online networks, gradations of use, social networks and informal learning contexts frequently act as mediators to support effective internet use. This study contends that by understanding the social benefits of young people’s online network use and the role that mediators play in different environments, we can move towards a policy framework that supports equitable opportunities for young people’s digital inclusion.

The main objective of this thesis is to compare the standard of living in the Czech Republic and France in regards to state-provided assistance to achieve this level of living standard. The work is focused mainly on familial social policy of both countries, and therefore the examined group of citizens is mainly families with dependent children. The work is divided into two parts. The first part is establishing the legislative framework for state social benefits and definitions of important terms. The second part describes in detail the various Czech and French benefits, as well as examples of the economic situation of selected families and their entitlement to state benefits. The conclusion is devoted to the comparison of these findings.

The thesis deals with the 2011 social reform implemented by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. Initially, the various reform steps are analyzed. Developments in the evolution of change are monitored since their introduction to 2015 and then the financial and social impacts of individual changes are examined. The primary goal of the social reform was to increase the efficiency of the public funds spent on the social benefits system and their overall reduction. The main output of the work is the realization that this goal was not fulfilled, on the contrary there was the depletion of funds in the net amount of CZK 10.77 billion. Research has also shown that individual changes have had a negative impact on the lives of the people concerned. In conclusion, the reform is monitored in the context of the necessity of its implementation and related to the previous large reforms that took place in the Czech Republic.

This thesis examines the impact of the concept of ecosystem services in the evaluation of the social costs and benefits of urban watercourse revitalization. Its possible use is shown on the specific selected project. The theoretical part explains the economic substance of ecosystem services, defines related terms, introduces different approaches of various economic schools to the concept and describes its historical development. The practical part then quantifies the net social benefits and costs of the selected project using cost- benefit analysis extended by the concept of ecosystem services. In the conclusion, the objective indicators are calculated and analysed in order to identify the strengths and weeknesses of using the concept of ecosystem services.

This diploma thesis was devoted to the topic: Support of independent living as a form of field social work. I focused on the typology of disability, Company DUHA, z.ú. and types of benefits for people with disabilities. I dealt with the differences between independent housing support and sheltered housing and social services for people with disabilities. The main aim of my diploma thesis was to find out, if the clients are satisfied with the service of independent housing support and what are the most benefial aspects of this service. Another goal was to find out how satisfied are the family members of clients using the independent housing support service with this social service. To find out he major goal of the thesis I used the technique of structured interview, which included 8 questions. The thesis is divided into 7 chapters. I consider chapter seven to be the most important, in where I present the results of the survey. It is evident that clients who use the Company DUHA, z.ú and their family members are satisfied with the service.
