Poliqueixoso: metáfora ou realidade? / \"Poliqueixoso\": metaphor or reality?Chammé, Sebastião Jorge 26 June 1992 (has links)
This paperwork comprises a sociological study that has its object the Public Health brought up through one of its main blocking point: the \"poliqueixoso\". It has been taken into considerations the health-sick conditions of all sick people, as if they were social actors culturally involved by the sanitary rules imposed, not only by the health policy, but also by their daily routine habits. The ample comprehension of this process aims to avoid the minimization of the facts, seeking to understand the existing relation between sickened people (or individuais) and the social and historical sorrounding reality, confiauring their everyday and imaginary life and all systems of social presentations. As users of all healthy services the \"poliqueixoso\" here described are identified, beginning from heart specialists, when and where they point out the symptoms not clinically contihuous process of seeking for health. As they routinize their actions as an effort to reach efficient treatment and cure, they ritualize their bodies and sickness, building up imaginary facts and entities, while they create typical metaphors of their sickened state, in a sickened narrative too, taken in this paperwork, as the foundation of a speech about health, sickness, treatment and cure based on the rules of contradiction, hopeless and alienation. The \"poliqueixoso\" here pointed out as an object of socilogical analyses, as he enunciates himself in metaphors a richness linguistically uttered, he reveals his miserable conditions as a human being.

Film jako odraz společenské situace (v perspektivě sociologické analýzy) / The Film as a Reflection of the Social Situation (In the Perspective of Sociological Analysis)Fikejzlová, Ivona January 2013 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is Film as a Reflection of the Social Situation (in the Perspective of Sociological Analysis). Its aim is to look at the issue of the film from a sociological point of view. This work consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes basic approaches to the film as they appeared during the 20th century in selected disciplines and sociology. Thus, the theory contains rather a basic overview of the possible starting-points for working with film. The next part of this work is a practical research project, which is dealing with a specific area of the Czech historical film in the late sixties of the 20th century. The aim of the second part is to link theoretical principles with their practical use in the sociological analysis of the film, which is set within the contemporary culture and the social context of the Czechoslovakia in the sixties of the 20th century. The practical part, in which four Czech historical films were analyzed, confirms the essential idea of this thesis - the film is the reflection of the social reality. Key words: media, film, sociological analysis, visual sociology, collective memory

Wives of the clergy. A Sociological Analysis of Wives of Ministers of Religion in Four DenominationsSpedding, Janet V. January 1975 (has links)
... for the phrase 'clergyman’s wife' has connotations which the phrase 'solicitor’s wife' or 'bank clerk's wife’ does not.
The content of the meaning it conveys, is a stereotype picture of what the clergyman’s wife is like, and how her life is organised.
The 'typical parson's wife’ is seen as someone who, on the one hand, opens bazaars and dispenses charity to the poor of the parish; and, on the other hand, as someone who visits the sick and bereaved and runs the Sunday School.
The two elements in the stereotype are, in this study, characterised as the Lady of the Manor and the Unpaid Curate, and their origins are traced historically, as well as their contemporary relevance being examined through empirical study.
... But the interesting thing about the 'clergyman’s wife' is that it is a stereotype attributed in a sense vicariously; that is, a set of statements about a 'typical' person, attributed by virtue of someone else’s occupation. The clear implication is that, by marrying a clergyman, one automatically adopts a particular way of life and style of life, in a much more clearly defined sense than does a person who marries into almost any other occupational group.

A sosiological analysis of the nature, extent and comprehensiveness of stigma in people living with HIV/AIDS in areas of the Gauteng region (Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng and West-Rand)Meyers, Maylene Elizabeth 11 1900 (has links)
Besides constituting major obstacle to effectively addressing HIV/AIDS, Stigma has remained among the least understood experiences of PLWHA. Limited knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS related S&D has very much contributed to poor implementation and in most cases failure of HIV intervention programmes at national, regional and international levels. Sociological analysis of Stigma in PLWHA lends verifiable insight into the nature, extent and comprehensiveness of HIV/AIDS related Stigma. With 129 participants from Gauteng regions of Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng and West Rand, the study confirms that Stigma and Discrimination (S&D) still thrives, quantifying its magnitude, implications and impacts in the lives of the HIV infected. Inter alia, the findings showcase the complex matrix analysis of emotion and behaviour associated with HIV/AIDS related S&D. Finally, the study offered a comprehensive recommendation on how to address HIV/AIDS related S&D at individual/family, institutional/community and government levels. / Sociology / M.A. (Social Behaviour Studies in HIV/AIDS)

Analýza environmentálního konfliktu - názory hlavních skupin obyvatel rybničních oblastí ve vztahu k výskytu kormoránů (rybáři a rekreanti) a analýza médií / Analysis of an environmental conflict - opinions of main groups of the inhabitants in the pond water area on the subject of the presence of cormorants (fishermen and holidaymakers) and media analysisŠÍPOVÁ, Martina January 2008 (has links)
The thesis was chosen on the basis of the continuation of the bachelor´s work. This thesis is focused on the literature search of problems of the conflicts between the protection of cormorants and the interest of fishery, further on the media analysis in the Czech Republic and finally on the processing of opinions of various groups of respondents (holidaymakers in the area called ´Třeboňsko´ and Czech fishermen). The opinions of questioned people were obtained from controlled interviews written down and processed in the questionnaires. The available information shows that a number of the protected cormorants is increasing not only in the Czech Republic but all over the world. The increase of the number of cormorant population causes problems especially to fishery, because cormorants cause the damage by catching fish stock. These conflicts in the problem area are mostly promoted in the media. In the problem area there are important opinions of the key groups of inhabitants. Groups of questioned people demonstrated their knowledge: holidaymakers in the area called ´Třeboňsko´ have basic knowledge in cormorants and problems caused by cormorants. On the contrary, fishermen are well-informed about the problem. The fishermen are more interested in the problem. Media are very important for solving conflicts and forming opinions of various groups of people. Media analysis showed that most spokesmen, who initiated writing newspaper articles were just fishermen. Therefore the articles on the cormorants are negative and without opinions on the spokesmen as member of general public or academics. Results of the sociological analysis have feed back on the results of the media analysis. It was found out that in the Czech Republic there had not been drawn up any management of fish protection againts cormorants. That is why I prefer to suggest the management in the near future. I recommend to follow the existing foreign management, forexample, in Great Britain. Further, I propose to change the Czech legislation for lower payment of the compensation for the damage caused by cormorants.
