Sport v československém denním tisku mezi lety 1918 a 1928 / Sport in czechoslovakian daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928

Kalát, Ondřej January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the status and development of Czechoslovak sport journalism in daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928. It is based on studies of five period newspapers - Národní listy, Lidové noviny, Národní politika, Právo lidu and České slovo. Given the paucity of original literature, these five printed materials are the main source of the analysis. The main aim of the thesis was to determine, how often and in which manner the journalists wrote about sport in that period and if the sports news became an inseparable part of newspaper in that period. One part of the analysis focuses on the people who wrote sport articles in those newspapers, if the sport journalism was their only specialization. It is also partly considered with the status of Czech sport photojournalism, sport advertising and reporting from the Olympic Games in that time. The opening three sections of the diploma thesis are mainly theoretical. The first one outlines the genesis of Czech sport journalism from its beginnings to the year 1918, when the profession became an independent branch of newspaper business. The second one describes the situation of Czech sport between years 1918 and 1928. And the third one characterizes the media situation in the Czechoslovakia in years 1918-1928, focusing on sports...

Football is integrated in Brazilian culture like a symbolic space of social representation. As a relevant audience phenomenon, it occupies even more significant spaces during the promotion of the Fifa World Cup. Thereafter, a defeat in a world competition may reveal conflicts of our very own society. In this sense, sports photojournalism constitutes a relevant resource of information of the facts involving the sport. This dissertation‘s purpose is an analysis of the speech built by the press and photography as the main discursive resource. It attempts to identify which are the key statements of the journalistic speech the day after the game Brazil 1 X 7 Germany, on the semifinals of the championship, on July 8th 2014, at the Mineirão Stadium, in Belo Horizonte (MG). As a consequence of that result, the Brazilian Team couldn‘t play on the finals of the football world championship and was left to dispute the 3rd or 4th place. This dissertation has analyzed 68 front-pages of newspapers published on July 9th 2014, which portrayed the defeat of the Brazilian Team to the German Team at the Fifa World Cup. Amongst the speech recurrences found, images of people crying stand out in 20 of those front-pages. As a relevant coefficient of mobilization, the weeping could represent a latent idea in our society of an emotional Brazilian ethos that opposes reason. Therefore, the main object of this dissertation is to try and understand the meanings of the tears that were watched, photographed and highlighted on the stories told after that defeat.
