The thesis is dealing with the Regional policy in the EU and its application on the conditions in the Czech Republic, based on example of the cohesion region Stredni Morava. The emphasis was made on the current period from 2007 to 2013. Hence the content of this work is not only the Cohesion policy at the European level and the analysis of its current state but consideration of its further development as well. The main topic is however the analysis of the region Stredni Morava in terms of economic development in the context of the Regional policy and setting of this policy in mentioned region including funding of various regional projects. The goal of the thesis is thus description of this complex task and application of the findings on the specific region.

The thesis focuses on the problematic of Regional politics not only on the EU level, but also on the level of Czech Republic. There are mentioned the main characteristics of its tools and targets. Also are characterized the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and mentioned their importance for the region. Mentioned are even the clusters thanks to their specifics and importance. They actually work as a special organizational form of SME. Based on data on the financial resources from the structural funds that were given to entrepreneurial subjects and on data on the individual region, they were made various comparing analysis. The main task of this thesis is to prove that support of SME's, particularly in the form of EU and Nationally provided financial resources from the various programs, has a positive impact on the structural growth of the regions economic potential.

The goal of the thesis is to analyse the reasons for the low level of drawing of the EU structural funds in Slovakia and provide closer insight onto possibilities for change. Furthermore, it aims to examine structure of resource implementation in Slovakia from the perspective of operational programmes, amount of the funds allocated and objectives of convergence policy of the EU with the consequence to Slovak policy. Likewise the research is expected to provide statistics of drawing of the resources and its influence on Slovakia from a number of perspectives. Suggested changes may also moderate hitherto daunting impact on Slovak economy and regions. The paper is divided into three parts in which regional policy is evaluated and the main focus is on the development of regions.

The main intention of the author consisted in understandable presentation of the application of Structural and Cohesion Funds in a member state of the European Union, particularly in the case of a small-sized company. The purpose of the diploma thesis was to provide the reader with an overview of European Union Structural and Cohesion Funds in general and of those available in the Czech Republic as well. The opportunities to gain funding from European Union of one small sized Czech firm were examined in the last part of the essay. The case study of Czech enterprise proved that the co-financing of projects in a member state can be cumbersome but also very beneficial when approached properly.

The presented thesis is focused on the analysis of possibility drawing financial resources of funds European Union to financing developing activities of region, specification on the example Karlovy Vary. The thesis is divided into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part contains three chapters, that are focused on a region, it's tasks and position in the Czech Republic, European Union and it's support for regions and an economy of region. In the practical part there are characteristic of Karlovy Vary region and it's situation in the selected sectors, the organization structure of the region and budget in the period of 2007-2013. This part contains evaluation of the region from Regional operating program NUTS II north-west and the most frequent mistakes in the drawing from this program and drawing from thematic operating programs. Next there is short comparison of drawing on operating programs of the Karlovy Vary region and the Moravskoslezsko region. In the comparison there was discovered, that these regions are similar not only in specialization on the industrial sector, but the regions drawn financial resources on the similar field like a development of towns, transport, sustainable using of resources and education. The main difference was specialization in the improvement of water management infrastructure in the Moravskoslezsko region compared to Karlovy Vary region, that is concentrated on the regeneration of landscape. At the end of the work there is a summarization of total drawing of region and recommendation for the next development.

Is the significant role of the structural funds in the EU budget appropriate? The main goal of the thesis is to analyze the role and potential of the EU structural funds with a special focus on their use since the beginning of the economic integration of the EU until today and to answer the question raised. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter describes the historical evolution of the structural funds in three phases in parallel with the deeper integration and extension of the EU. The second chapter is focused on the analyses of economic aspects of the structural funds. Research on possible improvements of the structural funds is presented in chapter three. Chapter four compares the structural funds management between France and Czech Republic. Chapter five provides insights into the upcoming 2014-2020 programming period. Based on the outcomes of the past evolution of the structural funds, empirical experience of their usage in France and Czech Republic and in the context of the current financial crisis and rising euroscepticism, we predict the future evaluation and priority of the structural funds in the process of European integration
